Place is decent but the move out experience and staff do not make up for it. I have photos of everything before I left and now the counter is mysteriously cracked and they are charging for the kitchen & bathrooms to be redone to match! With extra fees! You will never see your security deposit and you will pay more on top of it. Trying to speak to a human being is difficult and when you do getting one that won't talk to you like trash is near impossible once you owe them money...Avoid avoid avoid!!!

The management company and office staff are terrible. Promises are made and not kept. Services promised are poorly managed or not provided. Example: package service is available for a cost. We paid for it but the provider set up the account wrong. Packages sat for months and the office staff at Scottsdale Horizon refused to get them - yes, they have access. Yes, they could see that our name was on the packages. They keep adding different providers at an additional cost for utility management, parking, mail, delivery, etc. Expect to pay an additional $130 plus a month just to have access to these providers even if they don’t do what they promise. Our internet modem/router was incorrectly assigned to another unit so when we moved in we did not have wifi. Again the front office said it wasn’t their problem. Maintenance requests take months to complete, we’ve had a drippy faucet, growing mold, and noisy AC for almost 3 months. The on site team does like to offer ice cream and small spurious gestures for the residents, if you prefer that over service, security, reliability, value, and effort then maybe this is a good place for you. MG properties is a mega-apartment management company based in San Diego. They don’t return calls or emails. If you rent from Scottsdale horizon expect frustration and don’t expect help of any sort, except maybe a root beer float from the front office.

For anyone looking to rent here, DO NOT DO SO!!! Sincerely. This is not a place to waste your time or money at. I really try to give people the benefit of the doubt, working together to come to a compromise, but I needed to let any would be renters or current tenants know about my experience with Scottsdale Horizon Apartments. During my time at this complex, I had multiple issues with the electrical, AC, roof and plumbing. Each problem I had was rectified at the maintenance team's "convenience". Untimely and of poor quality to say the least. Staff does not get back to you in a timely manner, making any attempt at compromising claims or asking for repairs extremely difficult or a threat to your credentials. Other than the lack of quality maintenance, the move-out process was and is still a nightmare. During the move-out walkthrough of the apartment, I was accused of cracking the granite counter top in the unit. I would assume that it takes an immense amount of weight to crack granite or, because of the initial install, the granite would settle over time and potentially crack because of its own weight (forewarning for any current or would be tenants, look at your counter top before you move in or move out). The crack was deemed a hazard by the staff and could potentially injure someone . I was charged with a $1,800 replacement fee for the entire counter top since it had been compromised. I reached out to a granite professional and he had said that he could have repaired the crack for $500, something I would have been more willing to pay if the crack was indeed my fault. Because of the cracked granite, my credit score has suffered severely and they sent me to claims even though I repeatedly attempted to come to a compromise with them regarding repairing the crack instead of replacing the entire counter top. If you would like to go through this same credit score dropping, poor customer service, paid just above subpar living conditions nightmare that I am enduring, rent from Scottsdale Horizon Apartments.

The place is fine (only fine) until you go to move out! They will charge you for things that never happened! Then when you show them photos of proof you took upon leaving,they ignore you and try to take you to claims. The office personnel will refuse to talk to you and give you the run around. Additionally, any crack in the granite (that is normal wear & tear) they won't show you photos and then charge you to replace the whole kitchen AND bathroom since they need to match. Overall, while appears okay not worth the money or troubles. Out of multiple neighbors/friends...we are the 3rd to have this issue.

Pros: The apartment was quiet. In 3 years, there were only 5 or 6 times that neighbors were loud past 10 pm or people in the building were noisy. The office followed up on the one complaint I made quickly. Safety was never an issue. Single female, living alone, and had no concerns in 3 years. Maintenance is fast to reply to requests. The gym/pool are small, but well-maintained (although the pool closed fairly often). Cons: Maintenance is quick to respond, but not always good at completing tasks. For example, my dishwasher and dryer never worked well, and after I'd asked two different times to have these "fixed" and their function hadn't improved, I gave up asking. Clearly needed new ones, and I knew that would never happen on their dime. I also had a fairly large gap at the bottom seal of my door, which never got fixed when asked. The roaches. The first year I was there, I had one in the master bath, no biggie. But the last year and a half I lived there, they were constant. I'd find one every day for a week, maintenance would bill me for pest control, all would be good for 3 days, then the problem started again. At some point, I gave up and taped over the openings in my tub and sink, and that worked. Communication was lacking. Move out was not an easy process. The office very nicely waived the one late fee I had right before I moved out (my direct deposit lapsed, so granted my fault), but getting that refund back was a fight. Don't waste your time cleaning on move out. I was told that I needed to have my place professionally cleaned and carpet cleaned, although the lease said nothing about this (just to clean it thoroughly and anything over normal wear and tear would be charged). After 6 hours of cleaning, I missed a few small spots on the stove and microwave and was charged the full fee. Just don't even bother honestly. Overall? The price is too expensive for what you get (but what isn't these days). The roaches are a problem in building 11. Don't expect any of your deposit back. And make sure your appliances work before moving in, or you'll never get them fixed properly. Also, management is nice to you up front, but if you have a problem with the apartment, it's not well-received. If they offer you Jetty, I wouldn't go for it btw. It's cheaper up front, but I ended up with $430 fees that I had to pay up front (jetty only would've covered a damage if I was living there when it occurred, and does not apply to move out fees. lesson learned.)

This is a great place to live. The grounds are clean and kept well. Stephanie Olivia Felicia and Rocelle are friendly, helpful and professional. The maintenance crew Hector, Bill, Gian and David are great. Our issues get resolved within 24 hrs. Just signed our 2nd lease.
I have been living here at Scottsdale Horizon for over a year now. From day one Olivia and the rest of the office staff have been Amazing. The maintenance team it’s Great, always working hard to improve the property. Excellent team, great group of people.
I have lived here over two years, never had an issue, obviously things need to be fixed, painted resurfaced etc. Pools are great, staff are friendly, the Gym has all you need. I needed something fixed asap, Bill is the guy,very knowledgeable and informative. This complex is close to supermarkets, banks and restaurants, actually walking distance. I just have an issue with people with dogs in apartments. Otherwise you cant go past this complex.
Parking is terrible. The inside of the apartments have a nice layout. Bathrooms are interesting . They spray paint the tubs and showers after a while it cracks and peals. I have never seen that before. Neighbors on the ground floors have issues with roaches and bugs. You have to pray you get good neighbors that don’t smoke or you will smell it in your apartment. The office staff is very nice and the maintenance crew is very helpful and kind. This place treats you like an adult, you want cable or internet, you get it yourself. You take out your own garbage. You don’t have obnoxious “extras” to pay for. Rent is Rent- it’s no surprise on what you pay each month. Adults live here. If you are in your 20’s I would suggest the Camden apartment down the street. This is a very quiet complex, the neighbors and apartment complex staff do not tolerate a loud party atmosphere at all. A lot of the neighbors have been here for years. They all know each other and are tight. Everyone looks out for each other here. LGBTQ friendly.
We have been living here for 4 months and so far everything is great. We were welcome by Olivia she works at the office, she made sure me and my family were happy with the location and that the apartment was in the best conditions. The place is really beautiful, very green, the gym is quite big and nice, neighbors are very polite. great place really enjoy it
A horribly mismanaged property. Totaly bereft of ethics. New management took over 2017. All reviews since then are extremely negative. While all the negative reviews are accurate. Most fail to describe managements secretive way of collecting extra fees. Just one example, previous management enabled autopay until the renter cancelled it. MG Properties does not do that. Nor will they tell you to renew your auto pay on line each renewal. They rather bill you late fees and in that way inform you of their archaic policy. They combine the late notice immediately with an eviction notice from their lawyers on the 5th day of the month. This they do to tenants who have never been late in five years. A month into my renewal I received such treatment. They take no responsibility to declare the changes in policies. Beware. To be avoided. They will collect fees like you have never seen.

The property is in an amazing location in North Scottsdale. The property is also very pet friendly, which is fantastic. The apartments are spacious and very comfortable to reside in. Lastly, the management staff are extremely diligent and nice people who truly care about their residents' experience. In my opinion, the only issue is the sprinkler system and water usage. The property has a lot of grassy areas (great for pets), which require a sprinkler system. Unfortunately, the combination of the over-use of the sprinklers and the terrain of the grounds leads to over-watering resulting in puddles and pools of standing water. I did see workers on-site last week working on this, so hopefully this issue is resolved. The only other negative I've experienced so far is that guest parking is limited. I've brought the issue up to management, and I was told that actions would be taken to ensure guest parking isn't dominated by the same vehicles night after night. With that said, considering the amazing location of this property and the below market cost of rent (for the location), this issue is not a big deal and the positives more than outweigh the negatives in this case. Overall, we are very happy here!
My wife and I live here with our baby girl and we love it. The pool area is always clean, and the people who live here are very friendly. We have never had a problem with the office staff. I just wish there was more free parking for guests. Prices are reasonable for a North Scottsdale apartment and there is a lot of space. We plan on renewing our lease when it is up!
We were a little hesitant to move here after reading a lot of horrible reviews. Our experience so far has been amazing. The office staff is always available to answer questions. Kevin is our favorite. We plan on staying for awhile!
Who wants to keep moving around from place to place? Life is short and you should love where you live and my place is here.
