Property Ratings at Second Street Station
You can't beat the location. Midway between hwy 7 and hwy100 and Knolwood and Target stores can be walked to. There have been several managers since I've moved in but the one they have now does a fantastic job! He's always available for any concern you may have. The grounds are well maintained. No trash around EVER and the flowers in planters on the property look beautiful. I work at the main Bachmans store and I can get there easily in about 15 minutes. You will feel welcome here and so will your pets. Each building has a laundry room and buildings are kept clean
Management is great. They are always able to help me out and fix any issues that come up right away. Definitely recommend living here!
This property is just beautiful! I love living here. Management is also very helpful, and any issues that may come up, are resolved almost immediately. For this area, and this quality, this is an amazing price! Definitely recommend Second Street Station!
There are cockroaches everywhere in the buildings. It is infested. Terminated my lease early because it was so bad. Do not live here. There are nests of cockroaches underneath the appliances
Property will not allow any accommodations for leaving your car in the lot while traveling. If the lots need to be cleared while you are gone, and your car is there, it will be towed, even if you tried to organize with them before leaving. The benefit of having a parking lot is not very beneficial, especially in the winter months.
I moved here a few months ago and I like it here. It's a good, safe neighborhood. The apartment building is pretty quiet. It's an updated look throughout. It's a good amount of space. Maintenance is great! They vacuum every week. If I send in a request to fix something in my place, they will fix it the next day. It's nice that they have washers and driers in the building. They have this nice walking trail right outside the building. It's in such a good location. It's right next to Knollwood mall and Excelsior blvd. This place has everything you'll need and at a good price. You will be very happy living here.
I have been living at Second Street Station for about three months now and it has been a great experience. The apartments are fairly nice and updated. I especially love my kitchen with the wood floors, stainless steel appliances and granite like counter tops. If I ever have an issue, maintenance is usually on it within a day or two. There are laundry machines in every building and they are never all in use at once, so there shouldn't be an issue on getting your laundry done. The apartment complex itself is fairly quiet, which is nice after a busy day at work. The location is great, right across from Pizza Luce and just down the road from other great fast-casuals and restaurants. There is a Target, Knollwood Mall (great for shopping) Cub, liquor stores and more, plus it's only 5-10 minutes from Uptown depending on the day. If you like to workout there are endless options nearby. Second Street is right in the middle of two LA Fitness locations (Hopkins or St. Louis Park), not too far from Life Time Fitness SLP and other classes like yoga, cycling, barre, etc. The greenway, is basically right outside the apartment complex, so if you like to run, bike, walk, etc. this is a great trail system that interconnects with paths all over. I love living at Second Street Station and the location. Thus far, I have had a great experience and could see myself living here longer down the road.
I moved in a little over a year ago and I love it here. For starters, the apartment is great. We have modern appliances and being a lazy person, I am so grateful for the dishwasher. The AC works wonderfully and with a small fan, the entire place is comfortable. Sure, I can hear the folks above me walking around and maybe I just have quite folks above me but it really isn't a bother. It is an apartment, so that kinda comes with it. I've never been to an apartment where I never heard the neighbors. The other tenants here are awesome. Everyone is friendly and respectful. Recently, management has been doing a lot of work around here with new washers and dryers, resurfaced the parking lot, and made things very easy. Certain times of the day are busy for the parking lot, but even being a lazy guy, I'm not gonna let a few extra steps from my car to my place ruin my day. Haha. And then there's Brooke, our building manager. She is awesome. She's very kind and eager to help. We get texts when packages arrive, emails about everything going on here, she's quick to respond and overall a great manager. I absolutely love it here. I know this is a place I will call my home for many years. I highly, highly recommended that you check this place out.
All the issues I've seen below have been addressed and tbh what some people expect (pools, etc.) really surprises me. The cost goes towards the quality of the apartments, not the cost of "fancy fun" so if you don't need all the fancy stuff but want a nice apartment this is a great place to be! The lots were recently redone so no more visitor parking/towing issues and there's even going to be new washers and dryers installed soon which I'm super excited for! All in all I'm SO glad my fiance and I picked this place. Also, Brooke is amazing! All our questions were answered same day via email and our one maintenance request got fixed same day too!
Lived here for a 6 month lease, and I'm gonna be very candid on this review. Only problems I see is there's no gym, pool, or balcony... Other than that, place isn't bad. I've heard many complaints from other residents, but I don't see any... Floor noise is about the only issue but if you live on the top floor it doesn't matter. Managment is great, Brooke, the property manager is willing to work and professional. Soderberg apartments is great, and is willing to work with you.
My husband and I have enjoyed our time at Second Street Station thus far. We get compliments on how nice the apartments are each time a friend or family member sees it for the first time. The kitchen and floors are awesome. We're on the second floor and so noise hasn't been much of an issue. But there are train tracks near by and you will hear the trains! Our biggest complaint is lack of central heating and air, but that's common for apartment complexes. Working with management has been a pleasant experience each time we've been in contact. Also, our maintenance requests are addressed in a very timely manner. This has been a good first home for us together.
I lived at second street for one year, overall had a good experience. Yes it's true the parking situation is not the best, but across the street there is a basketball academy that I would have friends park at if they were staying over night, and it wasn't an issue. The walls are very thin, but my neighbors were respectful and it wasn't often that I was bothered. It's defiantly worth the extra money to live on the top floor, it's much quieter. The unit itself was nice and newly remodeled, great coin free laundry facilities. The nice part is the building is also completely smoke free now. The location is also nice, close to uptown and pretty much everything you need. The management staff was always friendly and cared about me as a tenant. Overall I enjoyed my stay at second street station.
I've lived at Second Street Station for four months. It's been years since I lived in an apartment. These apartments have an updated appearance and are very clean. I especially like the security access and that packages can be left at the office if I'm not available. I always get a parking spot near my building based on the campus layout. They also have new, clean and secure storage areas available to rent. I find these apartments very comfortable for the right price in this area.
Second Street Station has been home to my girlfriend and I for three years now. We keep re-signing that lease for several reasons. The microwave, dishwasher, and sink have been updated. We love the hardwood floors. Biking is important to me and we're on the hub of 3 main trail lines. I like to think that I can go anywhere in the metro in 15 minutes. More importantly it's the people here. Neighbors are kind and quiet (for the most part) and our management team has been very good to us. The maintenance men (Adam and Sam) have especially impressed me. They are prompt and kind; made me feel respected when walking me through what was fixed, they made me feel comfortable. And it smells good in the shared spaces. We have been happy with our time here at Second Street Station.
I've lived at Second Street for just over a year now and have had a positive experience so far. The buildings are clean, maintenance is speedy, and management seems great. I have never had a problem with parking. All neighbors are very quiet, and the building feels safe. The colors in the hallway are not my favorite, and the floors show everything.
I've lived here for about 2 years and moving out due to getting married, so needing a bigger space. I live on the 2nd floor and rarely hear my neighbors inside their apts, just occasional people walking in the hallways. I transitioned to a telecommuter position after I moved in and was amazed at how quiet it is during the day! For this area, the new SS kitchen appliances, large windows and wood flooring make it stand out. My biggest issue has been parking as both my fiance and I have both been towed from this lot. The new property manager now is MUCH better about communicating and reminding via email when work will be done in the lots, so hopefully this will help reduce headaches like this for others. Overall a nice, safe place that's priced evenly with neighboring buildings.
I have lived here for a year and I love it so far! The usual apartment woes are to be expected really- hearing neighbors (less of a problem if you get an upstairs unit) and the parking situation (the price to pay for exclusive parking and all it takes is being prepared when having friends over- and there is always parking at Pizza Luce or Knollwood if you really don't want to deal with the permit situation for friends). Cats are allowed and there is no monthly payment which is great! And as of September 1st 2015 its all smoke free! Maintenance is super responsive and office people are always friendly. I face the courtyard and I'm assuming that is better than facing the ugly surrounding apartment buildings or the parking lot. Neighbors are ninjas and I hardly ever see or hear them! With all the new appliances, great floors and design, being close to the highways, definitely worth it!
I have lived here for almost a year, and they installed new dishwashers and microwaves, and also love the wood floors and 3 huge closets for clothes and storage. Management is great, and have always been prompt in fixing any problems I have. I have a cat and theret is no pet rent which is nice, but there was a deposit for her. Never an issue with parking or safety of the area. Decent place for the price!
I have lived at second street for three years and have been totally satisfied with the management and maintenance staff! I would recommend this property indeed!
I have enjoyed my stay at Second Street Station. I have lived here for over three years but since I am getting married it is time for more space. The apartments are incredibly well appointed for the area, the buildings are kept very clean, neighbors are quiet, management is awesome and in my opinion it is very safe and secure. Management has been quick to deal with any tenants who are causing problems. I will miss it greatly!
Only offers 1 bedrooms, I have lived here for 3 years. No problems, first floor, good neighbors, so much is with in a mile. I would recommend Second Street Station.
I've lived here for two years and it's been very positive. I love the appliances and new floors. The bedroom is plenty big for a single resident, and there are three different closets that can easily function as storage space. The office staff has always been responsive and will work with you as long as you aren't abrasive right off the bat. My car got towed one night from a spot that I had seen other tenants park in, and I explained the situation and got my next month's rent lowered to compensate for it. A lot of places wouldn't do that from what I've seen in Minneapolis. A similar apartment in Uptown would easily cost $1000-$1200 so this is really a great deal in my opinion. It doesn't offer the same things as downtown or Uptown, but there's decent walking/running/biking trails around as well. Sometimes I can hear other tenants, but it's only when they are blasting music or TV. The bathroom is decent, but the vanity is pretty small. You can only get cable through Comcast so heads up on that. Overall I give the place a 4/5.
