Beneath a canopy of cherry blossoms, woven between national monuments and government buildings, Washington DC is a city full of excitement, surprises, and historic treasures. Washington DC’s breathtaking landmarks aren’t just for tourists. After finding your perfect apartment in the city, you’ll visit them more often than you think! Many are free, and they offer residents a one-of-a-kind backyard, including the Smithsonian, the National Museum of History, the Jefferson Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the National Zoo, the National Mall, and so much more.
But historic monuments aren’t the only thing that make Washington DC so special. The incredible park-like atmosphere offers a stunning background.

Property Ratings at Sedgwick Gardens Apartments
I have absolutely loved living at Sedgewick Gardens so far! The location is great, super quick walk to the red line, target, and lots of dining options! The staff is friendly and very helpful! The building is always clean and quiet. By far the best place I have lived!
Property Manager at Sedgwick Gardens Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking time to post a terrific review. We look forward to continuing to provide top notch service!
I lived at Sedgwick Gardens for 1.5 years (I would have stayed if I didn't have to move to a different state for work). I've moved a lot for work (within the DMV and in other states), and by far this is the best place I have lived. I was in one of their renovated studio converts (the 02-A model), and it felt like a one-bedroom. The layout made it feel much larger than the square footage would suggest. The kitchen was stunning with plenty of countertop space. Plenty of natural light. Still kept the art deco feel within the building/elements of the apartment while keeping modern touches/appliances in the apartment. No cockroaches/bedbugs/etc. Heat and A/C unit worked well. Common areas/hallways/laundry room were kept clean (I regularly saw cleaning staff around). Parking was convenient (a bit pricey, but in this city you take a parking space when you can get it), but not necessary with two bus stops just steps from the building and a metro stop with food/Target/etc. just a couple blocks away. But most important of all was the Daro management team. They are responsive, friendly, and eager to make sure residents are happy. They regularly kept residents informed of crime rates, etc. in the area (which, for the record, I never had any issues or noticed anything, and the crime rates for the area are low overall) by having the police department come to the building and answer any questions/give updates (I've never had a building go to those lengths to ensure their residents were well-informed). If I ever had an appliance/maintenance issue, they were right on top of getting it fixed, then called to ensure I was satisfied. The front desk staff and managers were around 24/7 if you ever needed them (which was great since I worked late hours, so I could get my packages from them at any time [a big perk after having packages stolen at other apartment buildings in the past]). When my lease was up the first time and I was looking for another place (I couldn't afford the normal rent raise), they agreed to keep my rent the same when I extended my lease six months up to my move...unheard of in my experience. Frankly, I do not have enough words to express my incredible experience at Sedgwick Gardens and with Daro Management. If (and when) I move back to D.C., they are my only stop to find a new apartment (and hopefully there will be a unit available at Sedgwick Gardens when I do!).
Our 1-bedroom apartment is beautifully old, in a good way and a bad way. I don't think the company before Daro took over in 2014 took care of the apartments. My boyfriend and I moved in last year and a number of things have broken since then because of age. I requested a new sink faucet when we moved in and Jackie at the front desk worked with me to get a correct size up in. But, our apartment has reached over 90 degrees with all of our first floor windows open multiple times this winter. We've talked with them for nearly 6 months about the heating issue, and all the front desk says is, "we know, everyone is complaining, we're working on it." My pantry food was literally melting at one point. The apartments really are beautiful, and the updates like the gym downstairs are nice, but Daro seems to be forgetting to fix basic issues like heating.
Management company is awful, most units are outdated and building has been poorly maintained. Lots of issues with water shutoffs, banging from radiators and maintenance requests that are never properly resolved. You can do better for the money and hassle of living here.
I have a fantastic one bedroom with den apartment here and I am thrilled. We are going through some construction right now, but I go to work Monday through Friday so I do not hear anything. My girlfriend and I are really looking forward to the brand new gym. I am a huge fan of art deco architecture so this building especially the lobby was perfect the moment I walked through the door. The front desk staff is fantastic and helpful especially Michaela. My rent covers the utilities which is a huge help every month. I would love a washer and dryer in my unit but the 24 hour laundry center fits my needs. I would recommend this property to anyone who appreciates a well run historic building.
Stay away until construction is complete. Loud loud loud.
