Property Ratings at Serenity Place at Dorsey Ridge
Extremely disappointed with management's handling of a towing incident & the general policies around additional parking. While one parking spot in the garage is included with the lease, an additional garage parking spot costs $75 extra each month. Additionally, any extra garage parking spots must either be on the 1st or 5th floor of the garage, and your car can be towed for being on the incorrect floor. Living on neither of those floors, I accidentally left overnight our additional car on the floor we live on, and the car was towed by the next morning. While I can understand the technicality of why the towing occurred, I am in disbelief over the $360 I had to pay up to get my car back the following morning, and I am in further disbelief at management's handling over the situation and the general parking policies. After management made it clear they couldn't do anything regarding the situation, I asked if my permit could be changed for the floor I actually live on, instead of the 5th floor. They initially responded that they can't do that because the garage floors fill up from those who actually live on the floor, which is completely untrue. When I mentioned failing to see either floor at max capacity, management replied that it still couldn't be done, because the number of parking spots was designed in a manner to ensure each unit on that floor had a parking spot. (Side note: After the conversation, I was curious and checked. I counted 50 units on my floor, but there are not 50 parkings spots in the corresponding floor of the garage. There are actually close to EIGHTY (80) parking spots in the garage on the same floor, and that's not even counting a handful of Disability designated parking spots.) I then asked about discontinuing & forfeiting the extra parking spot. Apparently, one cannot simply stop having any extra parking spots during a lease. Such a change can only be made during lease renewal. How convenient.
Counting down the days until I move out. I will say that Joey at the concierge and Josh at the office have been great. Now the not so great. 1. Ceiling between floors are paper thin. If you don't have a top floor apartment don't bother. Current upstairs neighbors are rhinos. 2. For our renewal they charged us $225 more a month. We asked if there was a way to reduce it they said no. We told them we weren't renewing and they listed the apartment for over $100 less per month than what they were going to charge us. 3. If you live in serenity you have to go to the villas to get your package. Serenity itself no longer has a concierge. With the money they charge they can hire one for each building. 4. The gates to the parking garage are constantly broken 5. You have to pay $75 a month to park on a different floor. If you have 2 cars for an apartment only one can park on your apartment floor due to lack of spaces. 6. Food trucks are cancelled about a 1/3 of the time. 7. Complex has weed smell in some areas.
My husband and I regret moving to this community and looking forward to moving in a month. The leasing manager is unprofessional and incompetent, which reflects in the entire leasing staff. No security in the community, cars vandalized and stolen in the parking garage, which has a security gate that works sometime. No lighting in the parking garage. The smell of marijuana in the parking garage and hallway is alarming for a smoke free community. Overall property not well managed and no action from the leasing office.
Absolutely beautiful. Everyone is friendly, the facilities are cost-effective and comfortable. It’s living in the lap of luxury. I’ll live here for the rest of my life.
Love it! I live here at Serenity Place and must say that the property exceeded all of my expectations the moment I moved in. The community is nice and quiet. The management and maintenance team are very hands on and have made my transition as seamless as possible. I'm glad I chose this property as my new apartment home.
Serenity place is not as expected. I wonder if employees wrote some of these reviews. I was new to the area and chose a place close to work but will definitely not be renewing the lease. The information I was given when looking at Serenity Place was misleading. I would not have rented if I'd known the truth. Pros: maintenance is timely and friendly, concierge is great and location is convenient. Office staff is friendly but getting issues resolved is hit or miss. It has a feeling of safety and the property is well maintained/clean. Pool area is nice. Cons: 1. Noise is a big issue. You can definitely hear neighbors above you and even on higher floors you can hear neighbors music or dogs barking. Not the quiet enjoyment I was guaranteed. Other neighbors have stated they have the same problem. 2. Garage is not monitored. My vehicle has been vandalized/hit three times. Management is aware but no actions have been taken that I'm aware of to address the issue. 3. There is a huge fee to pay rent online. It would cost over $55 and for the amount of rent paid it should be complimentary. This is a new policy just implemented. There is quite a bit of nickel and dimming residents. 4. The community is gated but the system to remotely give guests access does not work. It's a huge hassle walking outside to get a guest in and just ridiculous for a "newer" community. 5. Apartments are upgraded but lack basic features like coat and linen closets. Storage is a huge issue but they will rent you a storage locker. 6. Apartments are small for the price. I would not recommend.
This is a great apartment with a lot of amenities and located in a great area. The location is near the airport, Anne Arundel Mills Mall, Marc and Metro train station, Live Casino, twenty minutes from Baltimore and 45 minutes from DC. This apartment will catch you breath when you drive up to it. Come see for yourself!
We loved our stay at Serenity Place Dorsey Ridge apartments! The community is beautiful, the inside hallways and common areas are immaculate and well maintained, and the location couldn't be more convenient! The only negatives I can point out are the leasing staff (not helpful, not friendly, and don't care to do any actual work), and the parking (they tow often and do not have enough outdoor spots available). Those things aside, I would definitely still recommend this great community!
Sanctuary Place at Dorsey Ridge is a new luxury midrise located close to BWI airport and all major thoroughfares between Baltimore and D.C. It boasts energy efficient and quiet living in attractive apartment homes with hardwood floors, granite counters, gas fireplaces, and gourmet kitchens. The facilities are immaculately maintained with resort pools, a fitness club, covered parking and all of the amenities you would expect. While certainly not the lowest cost option in the metro area, it's a great value if comfort is a priority. Apartment living doesn't have to be counting the days on the calendar until the lease is up and you can go somewhere else.
I have lived here almost a year. The rent is high (but I got a good move in rate), but staff, security, and maintenance are always friendly and prompt, even for an unimportant garbage disposal fix. As a young female, the grounds are safe and clean and I feel comfortable walking around the complex at night. Neighbors professional and courteous. Not a lot of kids here, no playgrounds, which I think is great. I even had my dropped wallet returned by another renter to my door with all my money and cards intact! The pools are nice, but only go to 5 ft at the deepest. Great lobby coffee, great gym, computer room, all amenities. Since it is newer construction, there are big bathrooms and nice kitchens. Located very near to Arundel Mills mall, off 100, 20 min to downtown Balt, 40 to downtown DC, 5 to Meade. Downsides are the highway noise and a lack of convenient pedestrian paths towards any nearby shop. Only reason I am not renewing my lease is the increase in rent. As of 2014-2015 utilities tend to be around $80 a month, $20 water/gas for a 1 bdrm.
