Covina-Valley is a large area south of Arrow Highway, about 20 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles. The town is densely populated with modern amenities and several businesses scattered throughout. Property Ratings at Serrano Apartments
We've been living here for about 3 months now. It's safe to say we're definitely gone once the lease is up. We were told that the neighborhood is quiet, but inconsiderate neighbors up stairs stomp on the floors and slam the door when they come in and out of their apartment. We understand there are kids in the complex, we were prepared for that, but the level of noise and the frequency it happens is unbearable. People park outside on the street blasting loud music in the middle of the night. Roommate saw someone sneaking around the parked cars in the front just outside the main entrance at night, then he made his way to the grass behind the bushes near the apartment windows at 3am (roommate works graveyard shift). There are holes and cracks around the electrical sockets and AC units that we had to seal with tape to prevent roaches, crickets, and ants from coming in. When they say "Water and trash is included in the rent" You still have to pay for those things monthly in addition to your actual rent. It just means the landlord includes the the provider's bill into the monthly bill. The person giving us the tour told us not to worry about the water and trash/sewer. I guess I should have read the contract more closely, but wording it in such a way during our tour of the apartment just seems really misleading whether it was intentional or not.
These apts are Run down and old management "fixes" them up with paint and cheap floors. The windows need to be cranked open/closed. The floors are cheap and boards constantly shift. During the summers it's extremely hot in the units and extremely cold during the winter. When there's an issue/concern in your unit management takes forever to send their "workers" to do Mikey mouse jobs. There is never street parking. Only one carport space is assign to you and if you want an additional space you have to pay extra IF they have one available. Rent gets increased every year and all they have to show for it is a remodeled basketball court and play ground. Walls are so thin you can literally hear your neighbor... As if they were in your unit. This is a great place to live if you can afford a rent increase each ear and don't mind that they're old.
Well. Been here for 5 years. Still have roaches. Every summer I lay out traps, they die, but then I must spend hours, and my money to clean up the dead roaches. I’ve had 5, FIVE windows break, replaced, only 1 doesn’t work now, and I find that a success... The gas to my heater was never unlocked and so 4 Winters have gone by with no heat. When called and told about the heater I was suggested to call the gas co. (Although should of been ready before moving in) the gas co. gave me an apt for 5 months later, and because the gates wasn’t allowed in so missed my apt. BACK TO THE ROACHES . YES THEYRE AROUND ALL YEAR LONG . But I kill clean and repeat. . Every year ! My suggestion , if you’re a person looking for lot of space but a “do it yourself” spot . This place is for you. I don’t suggest for elderly, or families. These units are unhealthy .
Best Apartments I've stayed at... bottom units have their own washer/dryer (for a higher rental cost)... complex well maintained. Hard wood floors open concept kitchen/living room. New Management Sylvia and Maria are GREAT ppl. They have really turn the place around. Night security staff walk complex all night.
