Canton’s most recognizable landmark is the Pro Football Hall of Fame, a shrine to the legends of the game and one of the state’s biggest tourism destinations. The annual Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival is the city’s flagship community event, featuring a parade, cook-offs, a hot air balloon festival, and the inter-league exhibition game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.
The Canton Arts District has grown into one of the city’s signature attractions, a popular section of Downtown full of studios, galleries, and performance venues. The growth of the Arts District has also spurred renewed interest in Downtown, which has seen a new crop of restaurants, coffeehouses, bars, and breweries appear in recent years.

Property Ratings at Shakertown Apartments
These are great places ! The management team are great at maintaining the property . Safe , clean and adorable! Thank you Shakertown staff for all your hard work and friendliness ! Would highly recommend!
I lived here for two years after relocating to Canton for my job. It is a safe community and the staff is very friendly. It is also affordable, but not modern. I wasn't a fan of the electric heat, but my apartment was always warm in the winter. I only had a few maintenance requests in the two years I lived there and maintenance was very quick to fix the problems. The area is very nice and the apartments are conveniently located right across from Lake Cable. Belden Village is also only a 5 minute drive away. I would highly recommend if you are looking for an affordable place in the area.
The landscape is beautiful, completely surrounded by trees, which blocks out any noise from the city. The neighbors are also very friendly, which can sometimes be hard to find. Maintenance is quick to help whenever there is a problem, and the apartments have a beautiful interior. In particular, I love the brick accent in the apartments and the woodwork is exquisite. The office can sometimes be difficult to work with though if you have a problem about paying rent. They also chopped down the trees that provided shade and thus cooled down the apartments without telling anyone, and my apartment has been a lot hotter this summer from the sun beating in. They also love to raise rent every year you want to renew, which does not keep a lot of people staying here after the I leases end.
I got a single ground level unit with a fireplace. I didn't really want the fireplace, but it was the only ground level unit available. The fireplace makes the main room really awkward to set up, I can only have my couch right behind where the front door opens, creating like a little hallway in my main room. It makes it feel smaller than the space truly is. All electric heat and cooking. I kept my apt. about 65 degrees in the winter and still got hit with a $309 electric bill, so watch out for that. During the summer it stays around $100 and I keep my A/C on a lot. Had some maintenance issues early in my lease, but they were taken care of quickly. The snow had built up on my air conditioner and the roof drained consistently on the ground outside my window the whole winter, when it started to melt, it flooded my bedroom through the air conditioner. They fixed the drainage problem by putting a tarp over it. It was very loud with the water hitting it all winter. There was another plumbing problem in the bathroom, it soaked the wall so much that the mirror fell of the mushy wall and crashed all over my bathroom, flooded my apt again. Both things were fixed as soon as maintenance could get to it. I am overall happy. Bathrooms are nice, walk-in closet in bedroom, another 6ft coat closet, car port, my unit had new carpet. They have a raccoon problem in their dumpsters. Multiple times I'd go cautiously take out the trash, kick the dumpster first and wait for them to run out. Then open the lid and two run out both sides and scare the living bejesus out of me. They also hiss at you and aren't really afraid. This probably could be solved with people just keeping the side doors closed, I close them every time I have trash, or they need an exterminator. My rent for a single is $585, I think they advertise lower, I don't know what other floor plan they would even have for less. Mine appears to be the smallest you can get.
