Property Ratings at Sheridan Court
I lived here for 1 year and it was not ideal. During my time there, I lost heat, power, and water multiple times. There were cockroaches in my unit (despite frequent cleaning, pest treatment, and traps). I was convinced to move in because the building is in a good location, rent is competitive compared to the area, staff were nice, and there was "new management making improvements" in 2023. The building was re-possessed by the bank later during my residence and finds itself in a similar position with "new management" today. My unit itself had poor lighting and sloppily done flooring with tiles coming off of the ground in the bathroom, and laminate floor panels that had large gaps in-between or some that were literally coming off of the floor. There were also frequent leaks through the building (one in my bathroom down the wall and above the shower, and multiple in the hallway down the walls). The hallway on my floor also had a foul odor that was untraceable. The front door was frequently unlocked or open (due to the lock mechanism frequently breaking), concerning for safety. When I would ask for pest control, maintenance, or concessions to be paid, I was frequently met with "we are working on that (issues were sometimes addressed, but mostly would go unresolved), or "your outages were prior ownership, so we are not responsible for concessions." New management is always a good sign, and I hope that they are fixing issues in the building because it does have charm and is in a good location. However, I was not convinced that new leadership was making change enough to stay, so I moved, and would suggest a different property if you want to have a better experience.
Its NO parking unless u park blocks away at a restaurant for $100 a month.Even if management (which they change constantly) do respond they incompetent & dishonest.Water & heat breaks down & not if but when something breaks down because they have a bad history of paying their bills it's hard for them to find someone who will deal with them. multiple people try and walk into my apartment and others have had it happen to them leading to police incidents. Super squeaky floors, you will constantly hear your neighbors above you walking around & they have cockroaches
The new management is gradually improving things. It's cleaner, repairs are being made all over the building, they do pest control regularly. Unfortunately the elevator breaks down at least twice a week. They do call for repairs quickly but it keeps happening. The bit about providing gated off-street parking isn't true. There's free parking on the street, very limited, or you can rent a parking spot in a fenced lot from a separate company down the street for $100 a month.
I lived here for one year. They changed management 3 times in that period. When I first moved in I didn’t have a lock on my door for THREE days. Smoke detectors never worked, no screens on my windows and most of my outlets had paint been painted over before i moved in. The dumpster area was always a mess and the basement was extremely dirty. Contacting management for anything was like pulling teeth. I lived on the fourth four so I never had problems with the cockroaches HOWEVER, i had three other friends that lived on the first floor and it was disgusting how bad the bugs were. I had draining issues in both my shower and bathroom sink. I had no space in the kitchen and no drawers to put my silverware. The ONE small elevator they had was constantly down. I had so many people in the building that were unhappy with how the management was taking care of the place. A huge let down for the price point.
Do not move here. There are cockroaches everywhere and management does not keep up on basic duties. There has been nobody in the office for 3 weeks now. I am still waiting to pick up packages from the office. Packages get stolen. Management is constantly changing. There has been a washer in the basement filled with literal BLACK water since I moved in. While standing next to dead cockroaches you can expect to swipe your card 20 times before the washing machine reads it (does not take quarters). The trash does not get picked up in a timely manner and overflows into the alley surely adding to the cockroach infestation. Noisy tenants and screaming kids from across the court will keep you up well past midnight especially since there is no AC and you are forced to open windows / run an AC unit. No security cameras throughout the halls or lobby even though the front door states that there are cameras. I've had multiple people try and walk into my apartment and others have had it happen to them leading to police incidents. Super squeaky floors, you will constantly hear your neighbors above you walking around. The only good things about this apartment is that its in a great location with a decent view, and a decent amount of square footage.
