Property Ratings at Sierra Vista Apartments
Sierra Vista Apartments is an absolute dump. They advertise as if they are luxury living however they are far from it. The staff turnover is extremely high so you never know who you will speak with from one day to the next. The “smart technology” is always going out, internet is always having issues and the smart locks only work sometime. The internet is included in the rent but nothing but issues since I moved in. Also, I had to rent a router to fix the internet issue and was never told it would increase my rent by $10 a month. The gym is never cleaned and always dirty, you can visibly see thick layers of dust on the machines and light fixtures. The ice maker on the refrigerator works occasionally and the solution is for management to lend you a counter top ice maker. The stairwells to the apartments are extremely filthy and I was told they are pressure washed each summer, this has never happened since I lived here. Lastly, this has been the most ridiculous lease I have ever signed regarding move out expectations so if you do choose to live in this dump make sure you read the lease!
They will have you submit an application only to take your money & throw it in the trash. Never again.
I lived there for about 2 years. Terrible experience from day one, but difficult to get out of the lease. The common areas and stairwells are never cleaned, littered with cigarette butts and dog poop. The smart devices frequently stop working or run out of batteries. The internet (which you are charged $100 per month for) is often down or not running properly. Staff is poorly responsive to emails and work orders. It took 3 weeks for me to get my mailbox and key, and even then, throughout my entire time there, boxes were lost or placed in the wrong boxes. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. I was incredibly disappointed in this “luxury” apartment complex.
This place is terrible, they suck you in with pretty interiors of the apartments that are nice but that's where the good ends. Everything else is awful, the pool always has something wrong with it and management does not care to fix it. It is impossible to get anything in your apartment repaired and service requests will sit for months and office staff will do nothing to help and seem to know nothing about where maintenance is. No one here EVER picks up after their dogs it's disgusting and managements fault for not properly vetting residents. The outer façade of the buildings were supposed to be getting redone but have been sitting for months and construction left trash everywhere and no one has bothered to clean up. Truly terrible.
Corporate and management only care about getting you to sign on the dotted line and taking your money. It seems like there is one issue after the next and it takes screaming and weeks of fighting to get things resolved, if they are even ever resolved. Just yesterday I had to put in 3 separate maintenance requests. We will see how long they take to get resolved. With each issue there is just another excuse of why it isn't their fault. It took 4 months for them to rectify the package locker system and get me in it. When I would call to inquire about when it would be fixed they had no clue and I didn't get the impression that anyone was actively trying to find a solution. The icemaker on my fridge was broken for months. Again just a bunch of excuses and no communication unless I reached out to them. The app for all of the Smart features in the apartment wasn't working, again just pushed off each time I complained and was told that isn't their department. The warped floorboards were scheduled to be replaced and then cancelled. No follow up until I made several calls. There is zero communication from the office. The pool has been closed for the last two weeks. I found out because I went down to use it and it was empty and the gate was padlocked. If you complain about the amenities being closed, you will just be told that it isn't part of your rent. You can't have it both ways. If you sell the property by promoting the amenities, you can just tell residents too bad when they don't get to use them. The current manager Carmen is incompetent and blames everyone else for issues. When in truth, it is her blame and treatment of employees that is causing all of the good ones to quit. The property looks like nobody cares about it with dog poop everywhere. The dog poop receptacles are often overflowing. The gym, which they claim in being sanitized daily for Covid, is always filthy. You have a 50/50 chance of there being paper towels in there to sanitize and clean the equipment off. When I brought these concerns and others to Carmen, on more than one occasion, I was told to report my neighbors. How about you show that you care about the community and create a culture where the people who live there care about it too and want to take care of it? Install cameras to find out who isn't cleaning up after their dogs instead of putting it on the residents to report their neighbors.
I REALLY liked this apt when I just moved in. The interior design job done to these apt are great! But then after living in here for almost a year I realized that all these features and good looking stuff are really just for look. Let's do some pros and cons: Pros: (1) A lot of windows for a lot of sunlight to be in! (2) Cable and internet prices are included so you don't have to worry about those. But this is also a con i'll mention later. (3) Appliances are new and modern. (4) Mostly floor so easy to clean but it's also a con i'll mention later. (5) Staff so far have been helpful and friendly. Cons: (1)Noise insulation is NON-EXISTENT! You can hear EVERYTHING happening upstairs! Every foot step sounds like hammering, dishwasher and AV vibrates your whole apt with low humming, garbage disposal jump scares you at night if they use it, TV, music, even talking above normal conversational level can be heard( when people talk on the phone they raise their voice natually, and I'll get an earful of everyhing they talk about.) The noise issue is so bugging, i've decided to move away when my lease is up. (2) Cable and internet. My cable was down for 4 months! I called Directv and Directv told me to call GigaMonter because Directv is not resposible for the cable in this complex, everything belongs to Gigamonster. I called GigaMonster and the first avalible appointment is 4 months away. Since you are trapped with their service and u can't use any other service they know you ain't going anywhere, so they really don't take you seriously. Another review mentioned that the internet and cable is not stable when it's rainy and windy outside, well this is true, sometimes when the weather is bad, your cable or internet tend to stop working for a bit. (3) I highly doubt the kitchen exhaust fan does anything, u have to open windows after you cook, unless you eat salad everyday. (4) The way they goes in your apt with a VERY SHORT notice. Usually the night before they gonna go in, they put a note on your door and on the note they are citing the "free to enter" policy that we signed on the leasing agreeement. Since you have less than 10 hours of time before they come in, no matter how much of a bad and exhausted day you had, you still have to pull through everything to clean up your apt to save your dignity and you have to wake up early at 9AM to wait for them even that's your only day off and you wan to sleep in. Can't wait to move out.
Sound insulation poor (no insulation, really - built like a hotel, quick). No kitchen vents to vent smoke / smell to outside the bldg - all that smell and smoke gets stuck inside your apt. Floors difficult to clean. Paint chipping off, already. Batteries in smoke detectors had to be replaced after 9-10 mos (cheap batteries). Bldg is actually 3 stories, not 2, as ad claims. 'Convenient' USB charging ports not in convenient location. Cable has tendency to go out when it rains or snows. Internet very slow and unreliable. (Cable charge 'included' in Rent but they charge $100 cable fee. That and your regular cable bill cost (premium upgrade, etc..) will push 'cable' bill to well over $200 / mo.) They are now having apts come with 'upgraded' entry where a code is used to enter and control temp, etc. - this is an extra $50. $50 a MONTH ($600 a year!). High turn-over of renters and getting expensive. No entry into garage other than garage door opener, so you have to take that with you upon exit rather than a punch code or keys like other apts. Garage sizes differ. The mail boxes are on opposite ends of the complex from where your apt is throughout.
