Property Ratings at Skyline Tower
Management is a liability to themselves and their tenets. Moved in 9/23. They had me provide utilities and renters insurance on the wrong apartment. I was paying utilities via (autopay) on an apartment that was not even mine! Turns out I was paying on a vacant apartment for them. When the vacant unit was finally rented after a year, no one even communicated that to me. Skyline did receive disconnection notices on my unit. Again no communication about this until my power was disconnected in December 2024. I could not even turn it back on because I was not the account holder for my unit. Even worse my renters insurance was on that vacate unit as well, leaving me at risk if something happened.
I never had the opportunity to live here. You can’t just walk into the office and speak with a leasing agent. I made an appointment and after waiting 15 minutes after our designated time, the property manager finally showed up after I had to call and remind them of my appointment. The tour seemed rushed and there was absolutely no available apartments to show me. I had to get something lined up because I knew I’d be moving to Ft. Wayne in the beginning of March. I was told that there would be a studio apartment available for me at some point in March. I told the property manager before I left that I would take it. I turned in an application and my pay stubs and had to follow up a week later to find out that I was approved. Another week later I had to follow up again to try and see if they had a move in date for me yet. I was told they were hoping to have a date by the end of the day. I haven’t heard from them since. It’s been a week, I have tried calling multiple times and left a message on their answering machine with no call back in more than 24 hours. Here I am, not able to get a call back and have no place to live in Ft. Wayne next week. If this is how they treat prospective tenants, I can only imagine how they treat you once they have you under contract.
Great apartment complex. Maintenance requests are typically completed the day of, and at latest the following day. The leasing office responds immediately to any email if you have any questions. The only *minor issue* I would say is that there is no electronic access if you have a friend that arrives at the front door. Almost every newer apartment complex I have ever been at, they use a remote access key that you can give to friends/guests so that they can be let in without having to go down to the main entrance. With that being said, that is the only minor inconvenience that I have noticed. Great place to live!

Our experience with Skyline Tower has been quite different from the earlier review. While there have been a few start-up inconveniences, the management responsiveness has been positive and timely. The temperature and sound insulation in our unit seems very good. The unit is so well insulated that it stays a comfortable temperature even in very cold weather. The HVAC heat barely needs to run at all. We are aware of occasional door-closing sounds from the hallway, but the unit is generally quite well-isolated from outside sounds. As for security cameras and the use of security fobs for elevators and entry doors, this is a very attractive feature and contributes to our comfort and peace of mind. Our prior residence was unresponsive about providing good security. We have recommended Skyline Tower to several friends. Downtown Fort Wayne is definitely becoming an exciting, walkable environment. Check it out.

This building was constructed so quickly that the contractors cut major corners to get it done in a year. The shower and tub water runs cold in less than 8 minutes. It doesn't matter how high they turn the water heater up. It's freezing in here in the winter. They failed to caulk properly and management never sent someone to fix the floor trim around all the windows in my apartment. They became unglued and they are a major source of cold airflow. I had to spend a little less than $100 to weatherproof the windows, and it's still freezing in here. I was told by management when I was looking at the apartments that the walls have soundproofing and possibly the ceilings. Neither does. You can hear everything from your nextdoor neighbor and upstairs neighbor. Flat paint is throughout the entire apartment. Not exactly ideal in bathrooms and kitchens. There are stains on the walls from hair products and kitchen grease now. The electricity was overloaded one night with just the TV and two portable heaters on. It does no good to complain to management. They could care less about any problems you have. They do however don't blink to blame residents for problems when it is really coming from the brokerage firm, visitors, the bank, etc. You're monitored by cameras around the building and the key fobs track your comings and goings. Big brother in an apartment building. Obviously I recommend you look elsewhere, unless these things aren't an issue for you. High rent doesn't equal high quality.
