Beloved for its proximity to both the Jersey Shore and New York City, the central region of Middlesex County sits about 40 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. Nearby New Brunswick, home to Rutgers University, provides access to a rich, local arts and culture hub. This neighborhood is ideal for those seeking a quiet, suburban setting not far removed from nearby entertainment and amenities. Mid- and low-rise apartment communities in the northern section of the neighborhood give way to more single-family homes fit for a variety of renters. Interstate 95 and a host of other thoroughfares make commuting around the area a breeze.

Property Ratings at Skytop Gardens
Very bad, the apartment is not clean and full of cockroaches and insects There’s no solution to this problem So disgusting
Don’t move here. They charge us for property taxes every year when we don’t own the apartments. They increase rent every year but don’t see any renovations or improvements done to the properties, buildings look extremely dirty, with black molds all around. Management is also very rude. Nothing special
extremely poor management, garmen Roches lives with you as a tenant. ground floor adds mice issue to that too. no one maintains. no such thing as super.
Clean, prompt maintenance , nice office staff. Huge layouts lots of closet space. Just needs updating. The pop corn paint and 1910 bathroom tiles and mirror. And the 1910 windows are impossible to clean.
The rent is cheap especially for what's included but the staff are lazy and most of the time not helpful. Walls are also paper thin so if you have noisy neighbors welcome to hell.
I called to see if I could come look at a model unit or anything like that. Lady on the phone was immediately rude and honestly acted like she couldn’t care less. It was like pulling teeth to get any information out of her. Honestly, won’t be coming to look at this apartment based soley on the fact that I do not want that lady to be my point of contact with management. Maybe it was an off day, but even when having a bad day, if you are in customer service you should at least try not to be rude and short with people just calling with simple questions like “can I look at a model unit” jeezzz
I have been staying in skytop for the past 6 years in Building 8 Apt 4. I really would love taking time appreciating and thanking the owners and the managers in the front end (Jennie and team in the rental office). Excellent and wonderful service. They are highly adjustive and approachable. Readily accessible and perfect in service if needed. Never felt different all the 6 years staying in skytop. A real home away home. I carry all good memories with me back to my native country. Thanks Jennie (Rental office), Skytop Management for the excellent time !!
I moved in November of 2020 and it is absolutely amazing between the Staff in the leasing office to all the supers and they always maintaine a clean property I would recommend skytop to any body I know looking for an a apartment
I moved in 9 months ago and I absolutely love it here!!! Everyone from management, the leasing office and the superintendents are always so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Skytop Gardens!!!
I arrived in America from Canada three years ago. I had so many other places to live but decided on Skytop Gardens. I would never go back on my decision. The other tenants and the staff here at Skytop took me in and made me feel at home. I would highly recommend Skytop Gardens.
Skytop is a good place for living is quiet and neat . Skytop have the best management they try us ( tenants) like family also best maintenance people that they keep it the buildings in a good condition. Plenty parking lot, great laundry with new machines always garbage truck pick up the garbage. Skytop is close to the best chains stores like Walmart, Kohl’s, Marshall’s, Dollar Store ... I strongly recommend it Skytop ??
I have lived here for 13 years the office and maintenance staff are always there to help with any issue.
I have lived here for over 5 years. I can't speak for the entire complex, but the section I live in is very quiet. The interiors are spacious! The grounds are well maintained. Maintenance requests are handled right away! The ladies in the office are lovely!
Very poor attitudes when calling the office, simple questions get a totally unwarranted nasty response & some maintenance help is just as obnoxious. Horrible job with shoveling snow off steps and sidewalks, when I asked a maintenance guy if he needs me to move so they can plow out the spots, I got a response of do whatever you want, it doesn’t matter to me.
You do not own the apartment however you do PAY A PORTION OF PROPERTY TAXES. Aside from NOT being in the lease, you are assessed a rent increase and then a month later assessed PROPERTY TAXES. Something they don't tell you when you move in and obviously NOT listed here under 'expenses' Cats and dogs are allowed. people had their dog 6 months after being here over a year without one. There are dogs everywhere here. Very nice staff and helpful
I just moved in recently - they do have bugs, which was my biggest concern. On my second day of being there they had what looked like NJ pinchers, and on the fifth day my cats killed a roach. There haven't been many, less than five a month - more like they are coming from the baseboards or walls, I have no idea where the infestation is, this was before I even had put food in my apartment. Called the office for extermination - they put down sticky traps. My neighbors confirmed they see bugs and have handled it themselves. There is no central air or vents, the whole apartment is powered by one ancient AC unit they provide and then any that you need help installing - this means that your electric bill will be at the very least 50 a month if you want to keep your apartment under 80 degrees. In getting the apartment and contacting the rental office, I will admit they don't seem overly helpful or friendly, and when you schedule maintenance you have no idea of when they are coming - they give you no window of time within that day, however the maintenance guys are super helpful. There is no assigned parking and the spots are tightly spaced. Any time after 8 pm, it is almost guaranteed you won't find a space in front of your building. They have a lot of windows that let in natural light, but with shitty blinds, and the kitchen storage space is limited. No microwave. Stove is electric. What will make up for it is a one bedroom that can fit a king sized bed. Double closets in the bedroom, walk in closet, and two hall closets. The laundry rooms are constantly busy and close at 9 pm - however there are two laundromats within walking distance, once which is 24 hours. That being said the apartments look almost exactly like the pictures provided, aside from the bathroom - it will be outdated and it is either pink or blue. When I say outdated, picture 70's bathroom and popcorn ceilings. However, the hardwood floors look gorgeous, they will inform you that you have to put down carpet covering 90% of walkways if you live on the second floor. The apartment was clean when I went to move in and it is spacious. I don't really hear my neighbors - the walls must not be that thin, which is a plus. Overall, the location is the selling point if you are a commuter. The bus picks people up across the street from the entrance. Nearby you have access to everything within 15 minutes. A bit pricey for being so outdated, but one of the better complexes in the area.
Hello All, I have stayed in this apartment for more than an year. It is wonderful. Staff is really very nice. They have helped me a lot for my lease break as I kept extending date for issue with my work. The reason for 5 stars is that Nearest access to NYC Bus, train station, all shopping and grocery store. Even without car one can happily stay here. Wooden flooring for one who prefers it, Maintenance is very quick. and there is place where you see sunrise and sunset. Lot of parking place. Even thought It is at very prime place it is calm and peaceful. I had to stay couple other apartments in the same area but I loved Skytop Gardens. Siddaram
I lived in this apartment for 1 year and they have so many problems. they are very lazy to provide and customer service and the stuff is even worst when ever you call they appear to have excuse for everything. for example I tried to setup and appointment with super to walkthrough the apartment before I hand them the keys, they say I don't need an appointment. so next day I got the apartment and call them they say you have to wait for 1 hour then we will send him, and there are more incidents like that. I will not recommended this to anybody.
Stay away!!!! This place is littered with roaches, no matter how clean you are. They leaked from the walls. I'm assuming that some units are better then others but the amount of roaches and mice questions that anyone is safe. I lived there and couldn't get out quick enough. I tried to call and fix the situation and I was forced to wait a week for an exterminator. The exterminator tried to help but the problem is just way to big and the kept coming back. Heed my warning and stay away.
I have lived in apartments all of my life. Most of my life I was in an apartment complex in Bloomfield, and it was miserable. I moved to Parlin, and it is 100 times better to live here. It is quiet, neighbors are quiet and super nice, the people who run the property are great and accommodating, and our apartment is spacious and very nice for the price. I didn't even know Parlin existed until I found this place, and I love it here. The grounds are kept nice, parking is ample, and there is even washing machines and dryers on property. Convenient location to shopping and highways.
You get what you pay for. Building were built in early 70,s. No central ac/heat. Your are given one antiquated AC unit in the living room and that's all. You pay for any additional units you put in. . Heating units are baseboard units.Everything is run by electric no gas Your monthly electric bill is over $125. each month for a one bedroom so include that monthly bill. Staff is friendly, Parking is ok but don't expect to park in front of apt as tenants are allowed to have as many vehicles as they want. Including if you own a company you can park them here too. Maintenance team is great , Ground are kept clean. Over all Grade is C plus. Once lease is up I am gone!!
