Uptown Portland is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Portland. The lively community spirit serves as a consistent draw for the neighborhood in addition to its unique historic charm and central locale. A broad mix of eclectic local businesses provides residents with tasty eats and entertainment options while quiet residential streets create a pleasant, small-town vibe.
Located just northwest of Downtown Portland and the popular Pearl District, Uptown Portland is a top choice for those seeking a short commute. Most spots in the neighborhood's residential areas are less than three miles from downtown, making a quick trip by bike or public transportation feasible.
Along with being close to downtown, the neighborhood has plenty of its own charms. Uptown Portland is often nicknamed Nob Hill, a nod to the upscale neighborhood in San Francisco.

Property Ratings at Slabtown Flats
I've lived in slabtown flats for a number of years. I've been here as it's been sold a couple times and through the pandemic. The maintenance team has always been amazing - quick and thorough if there's any issues. Management has been consistently nice and facilities are still overall decent. Definitely have seen the building decline though, no longer worth the increasing price tag.

Slabtown Flats is a wonderful home. Friendly stuff and neighbors, secure building and great community events and common space.

Hi User thanks for reviewing us! We're happy to know that you've had a great experience and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Building has been well maintained during Covid with frequent cleaning. Staff have worn masks when necessary and still addressed any issues Throughout a year's time the dryer, dishwasher, bathroom sink pipes and garbage disposal have had minor issues. But the maintenance staff have quickly responded and fixed them.

Although this property is new, it simply is not worth the high rent. Parking garage rates are high and if you opt for the parking stacker, plan on having your car trapped inside. The car stacker repeatedly is inoperable and you will not have access to your car. Barking dogs can be heard at all hours of the day/night and management does little to help. There is one elevator to service the entire community. The elevator is closed down for hours (reserved) when a tenant is moving in/out. The elevator ALSO breaks down. This property has a high price for the quality in both management and construction. Service requests can take a long time to be resolved and plan to get alot of excuses about the timeframe of repairs. The doors are loud and can be heard shutting at all hours. This includes the garbage chutes which also smell terrible. Although this building looks nice, that is where it ends. We noticed many tenants moving out when there lease was up and we understand why. We are glad to be out of Slabtown Flats!

We moved to Portland a couple months ago and couldn’t be happier with our choice to live at Slabtown Flats. The management (Annie and Zach specifically) have been outstanding (to say the least). They made the move in process seamless. They are always available and find a solution/answer to every question we have had. The management alone is reason to live here! We don’t have a single complaint. We have had no issues with noise and appreciate that we feel so secure here. And our apartment is awesome! We love the big windows and the finishes are beautiful. We felt at home almost immediately. Location is great. We feel like we found a special gem! We highly recommend Slabtown Flats!

Living in Slabtown Flats was a great experience. I had lived in a couple of residences during my time in Portland, and none of them rivalled Slabtown in terms of professionalism, building cleanliness, and low noise level. The management was extremely knowledgable and friendly. Reading the other review, I am a bit surprised, as none of the complaints listed were issues for me. I am highly sensitive to noise, and that was one of the things I loved about this building--I rarely if ever heard neighbors. The "2 second" opening/closing of doors are a good thing, as it keeps the building secure. It is in a great and easily walkable location. I had to leave the wonderful Portland due to a job change, but I would have definitely renewed my lease at Slabtown! Thank you!

Parking garage rates are on the higher side at $180 . Pet rent $40 (most range $25-35). If there are charges for each item then it's not really an amenity if you ask me. To top it off, each door on the interior of the building has a closer--that means that every door slams shut unless the user/ guest takes 2 secs to ease it and close it slowly. If you live near the stairways or trash chutes expect to hear slamming more often than others; even in the bedrooms and living room areas, not just near the apartment door. When this was brought to management they said they would look into it, but never did. If a neighbor enjoys music with a bit of base expect to hear it and feel it. I suggest getting to know your neighbors. Dogs bark more often than not and reports to management seem to do little/ owners never really apply methods to lessen the nuisance. As a dog owner myself I understand, but it's not acceptable for barking to occur every time you enter the hallway/ elevator. With the foot traffic that means dogs bark almost all day. The building boasts "Valet recycling" but fails to enforce the Thursday PM container put out and Friday AM take-in. You will notice blue bins lined up in the hallways when you tour the building, get used to it. Very attractive! In the year that I have lived here I will be happy to no longer call this home and to save some money too! It will be worth the time and energy it takes to move. It goes to show the newer construction around town is of low-quality.

The building is new and has fewer units than most of the newer builds going up around Portland. at 80 units it has a cozy feel. The finishing are nice and common areas are well designed and spacious for their size. The city of Portland is set to install a streetcar line on 19th in the near future so be ready for the noise and commuter traffic. The area is heavily populated by transients as well so practice care when parking street side. I parked street side ($175 for Zone M parking for the year) and have not had any issues. Unfortunately, this property has a steep price tag for the quality in management and construction compared to other similar apartment buildings. Be weary of move-in discounts (6 weeks free, can be pro-rated over the 12 months for a lower monthly rate) as you will certainly take a hit when prices go up after your lease goes into renewal period. Rent for those of us who pro-rated the move-in incentive rose over $200 from our base rates. Many of us are not renewing our leases and opting for comparable places a lower rates. Of the 20 places I have viewed this building nickel and dimes for every "feature". Bike parking $25 per month. Renting the community room for a few hours $150 plus $300 deposit.
