Property Ratings at Soco at Alpine
Building should be condemned! This place is mouse infested and when you put in a maintenance request they do absolutely nothing about it.
Have had random people walking into the property with no locks or cameras on the outer doors. No lights in the parking areas. And water shut offs multiple times a month with horrible communication. DO NOT LIVE HERE
Wow... By far without question the most ghetto apartments in all of Austin. 1. The mailboxes don't lock. Your mail can, and will, be stolen. I've already lost a medical record from Veteran Affairs. 2. The entire complex smells like dog crap because NOBODY picks up their dog crap. There are hundreds, and I do mean hundreds, of piles of dog crap in ANY of the grass. 3. I was lied to about having a washing/dryer in my unit. She told me "It's a european unit so we're taking it out". ...How is that true when we have US outlets in the wall? There never was a W/D. There is a laundromat, NOT A LAUNDRY ROOM, downstairs. It costs FOUR F***ING DOLLARS PER LOAD OF LAUNDRY. Expect your rent to be +$100-160 of what they claim off this alone. I'm so mad that she lied. It would be one thing if she straight up told me, but no. She lied to my face. 4. Dust & Dirt... everywhere. The complex hasn't been cleaned in YEARS. The walls are completely coated in years of dust. Absolutely... everywhere... The really nasty part are the screens on the windows. They have SO MUCH dirt on them that you can't even see outside the windows. All the pictures from the apartments have the screens taken off so you can't see how dirty the windows are. They truly haven't been cleaned in years. I know, because I had to take mine off to clean the windows. 5. The doors don't seal. You will get a really bad draft & have to run the AC 24/7. Roaches will come in through that huge crack under the door. 6. Aggressive dogs running loose. I've already had to mace one dog that ran up on me. Very few people keep their dogs on leash. 7. Front office completely disappeared once I signed the lease. 8. The cost of living here along with laundry & all the other problems, you're seriously better off just paying another +$100 a month to get a unit with a washer/dryer. 9. There's a real-deal meth head living at the end of the complex standing in front of his unit 8-14 hours a day. It's crazy. Always standing there, pacing back & forth, with the door open. The only thing this place has going for it is the units are updated, but they've been updated in the crappy landlord fashion, where they bought new stuff but put in with absolute minimal effort.
I have no idea who wrote the two reviews below. I've lived here for two years and while the property/location is nice, the property management is the WORST. There have been multiple thefts but for some reason they keep the gates open or don't fix them when they break. I live in one of the renovated units and everything is so messed up. The door doesn't open all the way because the floor is so slanted in my unit. Recently the door sweep broke off and the gap between the door and floor was so huge that you could clearly see outside with the door shut. There are massive cracks on 4 of the interior walls where the apartment is sinking and I constantly worry about having the unit collapse on me. Now the bathroom and closet doors won't shut property because the property is literally shifting and no one cares about any of it. When I asked to get security footage of the second theft I was left hanging because of confusion on their end on whether or not I had already gotten it... why wouldn't they follow through instead of just not returning my calls? I can't get anyone to come fix anything and the "renovations" here are just temporary fixes that fall apart quickly. Ive had rats, roaches and black mold. After submitting a few final requests last week and being completely ignored FOR A WEEK I came to write this review- I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
This is the first time in 10 years that I have had great landlords. They are hard to come by and so are reasonable prices at great locations. I highly recommend living here or at least checking it out. Great for first time Austinites especially if you are looking for a great location that has everything nearby!
I really love this apartment. The people are very friendly and the renovations look great. Nice location and the courtyard is really cute. The new management is very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend living here!
