The sunny and tree-filled city of Davis is probably most famous for being a college town -- this is, of course, the location of the University of California, Davis. This artistic city is filled with public art and murals -- it is also filled with bicycles. Biking is big here -- it is considered a platinum-level city for bicycling by Bicycling Magazine, it is home to a multitude of bike lanes and bike paths, and it is even home to the Bicycling Hall of Fame.
Davis apartments aren't just popular with UC Davis students. This beautiful city features several parks, a farmers market, and several festivals and events, making it a terrific option -- especially for those commuting into nearby Sacramento, which is just 11 miles east of Davis. The city of Davis celebrated its centennial in 2017 -- be sure to take the walking tour of this historic city after moving to Davis.

Property Ratings at Sol at West Village
Sol really catfishes you. Management is terrible. They are not absentee landlords, but they are pretty close to that. Maintenance takes days if not weeks to get to anything you ask, and the office is closed many weekdays. When it is open the hours are limited and the staff are not super competent. You get excited about luxurious looking amenities and apartments, but even that is not guaranteed. Many nights the pool would not be heated and the hot tubs would be closed. In regards to leasing, the moving out conditions are very harsh, and they nickel and dime you majorly for the security deposit. Its really not a fun process living at Sol. For nearly half the year the wifi in the Solstice apartments was spotty at best. The wifi in the study rooms was just as spotty. After months of complaints from residents and scrambling to move places so I could do assignments with working wifi, the management added only slightly less spotty wifi. Trash would end up blowing around all over the parking lot, making the place look more like a landfill than luxury student apartments. Message to Sol Mangement: Get the trash in order. Dumpsters would always be overflowing and it would often attract roaches which was a pleasant surprise when living at such an expensive place. Landlords have a duty to fill to their client, and for the prices sol charges, they really do not fulfull their duties. If I were looking for housing, I would keep on looking, and save some money somewhere better.
Management is awful, maintenance takes 3-4 weeks to respond to anything, wifi is NEVER WORKING. LITERALLY NEVER. Huge waste of money!!!
So you are paying $1,000+ surely the internet would work right? Wrong! The wifi has been down for 3 days straight and what’s worse, it’s not the first time! Even worse they don’t tell us why or when it will be fixed. Ethernet connections don’t work, it’s so bad people buy their own WIFI!! If you plan on being a student… which is 100% of everyone here…DONT come here. Also bad customer service, lost mail, keys don’t work. Moving in everything was disgustingly dirty.
the rent is $200 more expensive than most of my friends' places all over Davis, but the gym and pool amenities you pay premium for are badly maintained and used by non residents who take your spot. takeout, Amazon packages and locked bikes are stolen from your doorstep all the time, and trespassers making noise past midnight every week rarely face consequences from cops, while ineffective leaf blowers grass mowers blow your roof up 7am the next morning 100%. staff are unresponsive, apathetic and arrogant like you owe them half year salary, but expect them to work hard to withhold every last penny from your $2000 deposit. it's so west you would think you lived in Oakland's crime center
What a terrible place. The apartment is right next to the freeway, very loud. All the furnishing, carpets, and flooring is very dirty on the day of move in, shows very little sign of cleaning before lending it to another tenant. The internet is terrible. I can't even upload homework using it. The staff dooesn't care much otherthan taking your money. Don't come here. I am sure there are better places in Davis.
This is one of the worst places to live in! The staff is so unresponsive and downright rude.. due to the health issues os a family member I needed to terminate the agreement only a couple of days after I signed the lease.. I hadnt even moves in then and immediately approached the office to enquire as to how to terminate.. for one whole week they avoided me and didnt even bother to respond to my numerous emails and calls. In addition to that when I visited their office a staff member actually lied to me and told me he would take care of the termination from him end and has already made that request in their portal. He actually took my keys and possess under that pretext and yet I got no reply for another fifteen days when I asked for documentation on the same. Only after calling them out on this less than legal and courteous way of treatment did they callme back and tellme that actually no process is in place and I have to start looking for smone to take over the lease etc. I was horrified that they would downright lie to my face earlier and take away my possession without even informing me about all this Save urself and avoid these ppl and this community..they are sure to make your life miserable
PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU EVER DECIDE TO RENT HERE!!! During the summer while I was at my hometown, the apartment management had my unit cleaned out when it was on an EXISTING lease. I went there in September to grab some things and arrived there only to discover that my entire 1-bedroon apartment had been COMPLETELY cleaned out, leaving only the food in my kitchen. They denied any responsibilities and insisted that I call the police to report it as a break-in even though there were no signs of forced entry. Not one day later, the police found out that the apartment management did in fact have maintenance clean out my apartment, which by the way contained about 70K worth of items, NOT including many sentimental items that money can never buy back, and things that had very private personal information including bank info, school notes, and my journals. According to the police report, they entered my apartment under no work order and without notifying me. Apparently, they have no trouble reaching out to remind you to pay them, but they won't reach out to let you know they're taking all of your things. To anybody considering getting an apartment here, let this be a warning of just how negligent, incompetent, and careless they can be. They want one thing and one thing only, and that's your money. They have no respect for your things or your privacy. They have made these past few months very hard for me, that I've had to go to therapy to deal with the trauma that they've caused me.
Do not live here. The rent and parking is way too high, not worth at all. There up your rent and parking prices a lot every year, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve lived there. It’s impossible to get an maintenance done, even if it’s an emergency. It’s also impossible to get a response to an email or to get anyone on the phone, the phones don’t even ring most of the time. The staff does not care about the residents at all and the WiFi is terrible. There are break ins in apartments and cars all the time, and it’s really far from everything. The amenities are not worth the insane rent, and the staff is incredibly rude. They advertise restaurants and a grocery store in the complex but they all closed last year and when they were open everything was extremely expensive. They act like this is the perfect place to live but they just overcharge for everything and then give away crap no one wants at UCD events and give out free frozen waffles once in while. Not worth the money.

I was a tenant school year 2017-2018 and still haven't received my security deposit back., it's now May 30 2019. After multiple emails (NO REPLIES) and several phone calls I keep getting the run around or no answer (leave a message, no one returns call). I'm Writing this review as the last resort, GIVE ME my $$$$$ back. Several other students I know haven't received their security deposits back either. Maybe the University should know how students are being treated at West Village. "RENTERS BEWARE"

When I toured West Village the staff was friendly and everything looked great! Sure it is the most expensive apartment complex to live in in Davis, but I figured that we would get what we were paying for. I could not have been more wrong. Even before moving in, management was incredibly unorganized and there was no way to get in contact with them. They wouldn't answer emails or calls, and when we left messages, they would never get back to us. Moving in, we found our apartment to be incredibly dirty, appliances moldy, and other appliances just broken. We had very urgent maintenance issues that weren't resolved for at least a week, and even getting that required persistent calling. In addition, management does not take students seriously! They give us false promises and never follow up. The only way we could be taken seriously was if our parents contacted them, which makes it hard to live "independently". One of the main reasons why I wanted to live at West Village was their bus schedule, where busses were supposed to come every 15 minutes. I found that, in fact, the bus system is completely unreliable, especially at the beginning of the year. Sometimes busses would be an hour apart and wouldn't follow the schedule at all. I understand that Unitrans is in charge of the bus schedule, but West Village should have taken the initiative to try to fix the problem. Do not fall for their facade! These apartments are way to overpriced.

For the outrageous price of this apartment/dorm, you would expect good service. Sadly you won't receive it. They constantly change their story and don't follow through on their promises. They have a nice tour, but the room you get will not be cleaned. It might have mold, filth, and smell bad. They don't honor roommate requests, and often are entirely clueless about the property, and their own rules. If they assign you a horrible roommate, that is your problem. If the roommate does damage to the common areas then you have to pay to fix it. The tour is a trick! If you already have friends you want to room with then pick one of the many other better priced, better managed apartments around Davis!

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us at West Village. We're happy we could meet your expectations!
Their staff is AMAZING. Cassidy, at the front desk, is always super helpful and nice whenever I need help in the clubhouse or just have a general question that needs to be answered. But overall, all of the staff is always eager to help! Not to mention, they are by far the nicest apartments in town! And they really make you feel like you're getting your money's worth with all the fun events they do for their residents monthly! LOVE LOVE LOVE West Village!

Hello there, thank you; we appreciate your feedback!
West Village Ramble Apartments are environmentally sustainable and close to campus. There are many amenities, including but not limited to a 24 hour gym, gaming clubhouse, beach volleyball court, and pool. Wifi, cable, water, and electricity are included in the lease, although the usage of the latter two are capped. Units are amazing with washers, dryers, walk-in closets, and private bathrooms. So far, I've met and dealt with a nice staff and community. My only pet peeves are the extremely high rent, slow maintenance response, and (personally) cheap choices of furniture for their furnished rooms.
A bit pricey but a great location near Google and the train. The pools are wonderful and kept clean. Apartments are a little outdated but the neighborhood is safe and quiet. Plenty of parking and the management and maintaince crew are friendly and responsive to problems and concerns.
I've lived at Ramble for three years and I've never had any real problems, the management is really nice. The area is really quiet and safe. All the units are furnished and the come with televisions, and everyone that lives here has to be a student or faculty member of uc davis which is nice.
