Property Ratings at Soma Towers
Soma towers is by far the worst complex I’ve lived. Amenities are constantly broken. Hot tub has never worked after living her for 10+ months. AC was down for a month and staff refused to send out updates, elevators will be down for 6 weeks and there are no accommodations for people moving in or out during the time. The office is supposed to be open until 7pm but more often than not they leave closer to 4 or 5pm. My apartment had issues with the smoke detector for months, and eventually had the carbon dioxide issue portion removed for over 2 weeks and no staff came back to fix it. Office staff is a joke, does not return calls, emails, or follow through with their own requirements. Run, don’t walk to literally any other apartment complex.
Otherwise great building and location, but these qualities are undermined by management not consistently enforcing noise policies.
I lived at Soma Towers for about 2 years in 2 different apartments. When I first lived at Soma towers there was an amazing, kind management team. The units were a nice size and building was well kept. Things changed after new management, building wasn’t well managed/cleaned. Horrible commutation skills from people in the leasing office, no intention to take care or provide a good experience to tenets. The finishes are a little outdated for the price you are paying in my opinion. The location is a great location, but with current management there is no reason to live there. Rude, inconsistent, dishonest staff. Also watch out for move out fees, both of my apartments were never cleaned when I moved in and I ensure it was spotless when I moved out/ I didn’t damage or hang anything, no need for paint, took good care of my apt. They will charge you a lot of move out fees and send it way after you moved out. I’ve had 3 co workers live in soma and all have the same experience with move out.
Horrible customer service of Soma Towers leasing office and the Corporate Team! The only thing they care is the money. The reviews speak for itself and I can confirm everything written here as being a tenant here for 8 months. I had an issue in December when my ceiling started to leak. It took 11 days for the maintenance team to fix it after multiple back and forth communications. 3 months past that, the issue came back and I had to reach out 8 TIMES in total in 10 days to get someone’s response and attention to the ceiling leakage issue. I have sent out an email(which I spent 4 hours to compose) to the Corporate Office escalating my issue and providing detailed and in-depth background of what has been going on. I asked for only one thing - to terminate my lease with no penalties and fees so I can move out from this greedy place and never come back. They declined my offer saying they can move me to another unit with a price increase and paying the application fee of $400 again. I don’t wish this to happen to anyone else so avoid signing your lease here. I have not mentioned every single detail in my review but I hope you get a high level picture.
Do not rent this apartment! We are the current resident in soma tower. We are charged around 3000 dollar of concession fee while doing transfer from one unit to another unit. No one ever mentioned this fee during the transfer process. I certainly understand the company wants to make money but I do not think this is the correct way. In addition to this. The new unit wash machine is very dirty and it takes 2 weeks to fix this. The light in bathroom is broken after 1 week of use. We have waited for 2 weeks and it is still not fixed for us.
My neighbors keep waking us up almost every night. This unit next door is occupied by the building employee. It is beyond reasonable what residents who also happen to be building employees are allowed to do here. In July, these neighbors, had a lot of guests, got drunk and screamed profanities at me outside my unit door for several hours at night (recorded on video), because I asked them to stop smoking marijuana (our unit was filled with marijuana odor because of them smoking inside; while this building is advertised as non-smoking). They calmed down only around 2 am. For several months, they have been keeping us awake at night. They themselves or their kids keep hitting/kicking the wall between their unit and our unit (which happens to be in our bedroom). They make noise at night in the adjacent bathroom. Yesterday, they started (not finished, but started) hitting/kicking the shared wall at 10:20 pm and it has been going on for at least 40 minutes now. Today, they started kicking the shared wall at 10:30 pm. This continues to happen again and again and again. Some nights they have loud drunken parties until 4 am. Just a few days ago they were screaming profanities at me outside my unit door after 12 am midnight, this was after they were partying with multiple guests for several hours, screaming and hitting our wall. After that they decided they would slam the front door non stop (all after midnight, and again recorded on video). There is no sound insulation between units or floors or between units on the same floor. Management has been notified multiple times. Nothing changed. The property manager keeps protecting the employee, making up stories that the noise is coming from a different unit, that they got drunk and are profusely sorry, that the screaming outside my door was domestic in nature, etc etc. Complete nonsense. But the fact is that this continues non stop.

Thank you so much for the review and for briefly touching on why you enjoy calling Soma Towers your home. Please be sure to let us know if you were to ever need anything.
Do not rent from this building! Anyone who said their move out fees are ridiculous is not lying. When Black mold showed up in one of the bedrooms, they allowed us out of our lease and then lied about our move out reason. They will bill you for anything they can, and when you ask to speak with anyone, you are told the management company is the owner. Please review the photos for yourself. Elevators were broken down for weeks at a time, pool shuts down without explanation, the building lost water without any communication from management, gym equipment breaks without repairs...and my personal favorite “the windows are cleaned 3 times a year”, the drops you see on your window are permanent damage they are not disclosing. DO NOT RENT HERE ???????
We've lived at SOMA for just over two weeks now and are loving every minute of it. Pam was a huge help in making sure our move-in was easy and the lease process was very easy to understand. Everyone in the building is so friendly, the location is perfect and the amenities are awesome. We don't have a single thing bad to say about SOMA or the people here!
Property Manager at Soma Towers, Responded To This Review
Thank you for sharing your great experience! We are so happy to hear you had a easy move-in and happy to have you as part of our community!
Horrible experience end to end! Please do not trust what you read here and go to yelp, google reviews etc. I will post photos and maybe videos, shortly as I am so frustrated by my staying here that I cannot even type!
I believe the charges Soma tacks on are borderline fraudulent and have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They include: 1) Monthly water, sewer, garbage charges of close to $300 in addition to the rent you owe 2) A nice gift when you move out charging you cleaning and pain close to $700 Want to warn all potential renters to beware of this in their consideration.
Living at Soma Towers has been wonderful. We have had next to no issues, and the issues we have had have been minor and were quickly remedied by the fantastic staff! The inside of the apartment is clean and modern, and the "warm" color scheme we live in is beautiful. For a smaller apartment, the windows make it feel like we have twice as much space as we do, and the view of the lake and Seattle is stunning. The apartment also stays warm when we are cold or cools off very quickly when we switch on the air conditioner. We enjoy all of the perks of living here too. For example, the indoor swimming pool and hot tub is fantastic, as is the theater room, both of the gyms and the golf simulator. It's convenient to be able to take the elevator downstairs and go right to the gym, instead of having to pay for a gym membership and travel after or before working hours. The mailroom is indoors and the special package delivery system they have is secure and we never have to worry about a package getting lost or taken. Also, all of our friends who have come over have complimented the look and feel of the place, and it makes us feel good to know that our friends prefer to visit us over other places! All in all, we hope to be living here for as long as we can. Thanks Soma!
Living at Soma Towers has been a disappointment from the moment we moved in. Management was rude the day we moved in, telling us we couldn't move in because we arrived during the last half hour of our move-in time even though we fully intended to only use the half hour. Then we were told we would get a second parking space by October but surprisingly enough that never happened and now we're told that was never an option. We never would have lived here had we known that. And most importantly, our 19th-story full length inside window pane shattered weeks after moving into our apartment. The window shatter was a freak accident; we still have no idea how it happened but we do know it happened on a Friday and we had to call the front office on the following Tuesday to see what was going to be done about it. After that things only got worse. Management was incredibly rude, even accusing us of breaking the window which is ridiculous for 3 reasons: 1. we have a young child and would never put her safety at risk. 2. we had friends over when it happened so we have proof it was not our doing. 3. we just moved into a what we thought was a lovely apartment, why would we immediately want out? The fact that our window shattered was extremely frustrating and the treatment we received was even worse. But the biggest frustration was it took months to fix and in that time our rent was not reduced even though we had a boarded up window for 3 months! There are a lot of other wonderful apartments to call home in downtown Bellevue that I would pick over Soma any day. I hope no one else makes the same mistake we did.
