Property Ratings at Somerpointe
I have lived here since 2018. It used to be a great place but now i cant wait to leave. Their online portal has a problem with how it manages rent. Sometime in fall last year i was charged twice the rent and when i went to ask the front desk they said there is nothing they can do about it and the money would be counted as credit for the next month. I was lucky that i had enough funds in my checking account at that time or i would have been charged overdraft fees by both my bank and the apartment complex. Since i got here, i have always paid my rent on time and in full. This month for some reason the system didnt save when i paid my rent so it didnt go through. I didnt notice of course cuz i though i had paid it. When i looked at my bank statement and saw nothing was withdrawn i went to pay but was changed a fee worth 10% of my rent. I tried calling the office but no-one picked up. I then sent an email instead asking the fee to be waived, i only heard back from someone 2 days later after another failed attempt at calling and leaving a voice message for a call back. Since an extra 2 days had passed another fee was added on and they did not care to listen to the actual details. Other than this, they have changed the way the do billing without notice to the tenants. I am a single person living in a 1 bed apt and even when i was away for months i would still be charged about $55 over my rent for water and trash fees. This makes it abundantly clear that i am not paying for my own water but for everyone elses. I have had various maintenance issues with my apartment as well. It took them close to 2 years to fix a leaking ceiling! I had to live with the anxiety that my ceiling might cave in any time it rained. They just kept changing management and whenever i would ask theyd say they would need to reassess the situation. I was also left without a working AC twice in the hot months of summer for over 3 days each. They also randomly turn the water off with no prior notice and sometimes its off for hours. The laundry room always has broken machines that are not labeled. I have had to take home soaking wet clothes so many times that it feels like a gamble doing laundry, Overall, these apartments only care about your money. Im not sure what the purpose of the office is, since they dont talk to tenants or care. Alas, im very disappointed and expected better . Would not recommend staying here if you have other options.

We would love the opportunity to re-discuss your payment concerns and late fees that might’ve been incurred, so together we can produce a plan prevent this from ever happening again. We truly value you as a resident here, and we want to ensure your residency with us is the best possible. One of our team members will be reaching out to you soon so we can further discuss and answer any lingering questions you may have. We look forward to speaking to you, thank you.
Office manager needs classes in basic customer service! She’s very rude and parking is a pain even if you pay for it! They say they will tow but I was out of a spot for 3 days because the tow company apparently doesn’t work on weekends or after office hours. They also just implemented a change which is not in the lease that the want us to split the water bill amongst our neighbors and refuse to put a meter on each apartment so we can pay for only our usage. Maintenance will come immediately but aren’t willing to answer basic questions if you happen to see them out. The apartments are ok if you need a starter home but definitely over priced and out dated! Can’t wait to move out!

I have been at Somerpointe apartments for about 5 years...this property is friendly clean...and the residents watch out for each other...and also they will work with you if your financially having problems...I'm a single mother with a 4 year old son who has some serious health problems...and I ended up losing my job and have had a hard time finding a new...so instead of kicking me out. They have made it possible to have me and my son to stay here.I couldn't be more grateful...but I'm afraid as I'm running out of money to stay here they might have to let me go...and I wouldn't like that...this is our home and like family here...so I would appricate it very much...u wouldn't know if u would help me out...before we lose our place to live...
While cabinets are definitely last century, the apartment is spacious with tons of storage. The walk-in closet in the master bedroom is huge, and the inclusion of a decent-size pantry makes up for the cabinets. Management is attentive, and the grounds are well maintained. You do have to pay for covered parking, but it's worth a few bucks to keep your car out of the Arizona sun. All in all, it's a quiet, well-kept place in a terrific location near shopping, restaurants, pharmacies (3) and mass transportation.
