Property Ratings at Somerset at Deerfield
I could write a 5 page paper on why to not rent from here. Just save yourself the stress of dealing with these people and try to find another place. Especially if you’re wanting the townhome. Windows are awful, hardly open and close and cold air comes through in winter. They will nickel and dime you to death. We were charged for things at move out that we documented with them were like that at move in!! Just corrupt and money hungry. They removed all the dumpster leaving one for all the units and it gets so overloaded trash everywhere. One pool wasn’t open at all this summer. Volleyball court is non existent as well as their pathetic thing they call a dog park. If I could go back and never give them a dime I would.
PLEASE DO NOT EVEN APPLY!!! The application comes with a "lease agreement" that once signed, even you change your mind next day they will try to use it to force you to stay, the manager had made intimidating calls and emails, they have contacted my employer to get pay stubs I do not want to share with them. This has not ended yet to me... I'm getting legal advice about possible options besides to move in AND PAY FOR ALL THOSE HIDDEN FEES ... or go to collection :(. STAY AWAY!!! from them.
For the past two years this has been an amazing place to live, however a new company has recently purchased the property. They are currently painting the exterior paneling to blue, red and white which does not match the current orange/yellow brick and it looks ridiculous. They are removing many of the trees between condos and apartments that provide privacy between the complexes. They have not addressed the plethora of shopping carts that have recently popped up in many of the complexes and they have gotten ridiculously behind on maintenance work. I fear that all of this is significantly decreasing the value of the complex while rent costs remain high and are steadily increasing.
Staff who hides from Tenants, Lousy Maintenance who attends to work after 2 months of pestering them, never seen such a useless management in life

I just moved in a few weeks ago and its been great so far. The team has been so attentive to my needs and my apartment is beautiful! Can't wait for the pool to open

Hello, thank you for your kind words and this wonderful review! We appreciate you! It was a pleasure helping you and that sweet pup! We are also pumped for the pools to open!
I stayed in Somerset for 5 years and planning to move out in a few months. While the stay was ok I really felt bad when I approached them to month on month extension as my move out date is not confirmed. They are charging 50% increase in the rent for month on month renewal which is just ridiculous. Even after staying here for 5 years they do not give you any concession in these difficult times and they are only thinking of making money at expense of people. When you ask them to help they refused and saying they cannot do anything as their management has already decided on the rates and nothing is in their hands. They are not even ready to talk to the management on the problems of the tenant and if they can help in these difficult times. I wanted to end my stay here on positive note but had this bad experience so wanted to share with everyone.

We are sorry you are not happy with your month to month rate. 50% seems excessive and does not reflect anything our team has done here. We'd love to hear more about your 50% increase as that's not something we've given any renewal. While we are not able to make changes to the rates we have offered, we can happily provide you with the correct amount. We want to be sure everyone is treated fairly and equally.
My husband and I have been here 3 years, first year was wonderful second year was alright but this third year has been miserable. We have very rude neighbors who stomp all day and night with no regard of essential workers. Rent is high but the area is wonderful. They don't answer phones at office and maintenance is just that..BLAH!! We are moving soon and our mortgage company can never reach them just so they can get records of our on time payments through the years. After new owners took over it has been an inconvenience. Staff first year were the best, not so much now. In the past 3 months our unit has been flooded in both bathrooms and have mold and bug issues now and all they tell me is they'll have maintenance come take a look. Yeah our move out date can't come fast enough!

Have been apartment hunting for a while. A friend recommended we check out Somerset at Deerfield. We had a great tour, friendly staff, and several great amenities to consider. When our current lease is up we will be moving in. I am so excited, as it has a beautiful pool and fitness room is great. I can even get the pet I've longed for. Thank you to a wonderful friendly manager for all her help in answering our questions.
Decent place with good staff and service. Staff are friendly and well maintained community.
From the outside everything looks great. Our nightmare began we moved in. We currently have over 10 service request that have not been fixed but the worst one is the mold. the new management does not care. My lease ends in April and i am scared for my children’s health. Do not move in here.
I moved into Somerset a few months ago, and will not be renewing my lease. The apartments themselves are really really nice, very roomy and look great. But, that's about it. The gym is very rarely cleaned, machines are broken, and the AC has not been on, so get used to working out in an 85 degree room. It's June 4th and the pools have not been touched, and any given maintenance request will literally take at least a month to be addressed. That is not an exaggeration, literally a month. Also, the walls are thin so you're going to hear everything your neighbors are doing. The location is phenomenal, and it would be an incredible property if they could just maintain the place. Rent is expensive, but didn't seem bad once I realized the place had two pools, a 24/7 gym, etc., but both are hardly usable due to the lack of upkeep. Really sad to see such a place go to waste.
Horrible management who refuses to do anything for their tenants. Trash everywhere, dog poop cans have been overflowing for months, trash in breezeways. There's also been a fire alarm going off for two months straight. Tenants including myself have called to see if they will fix it but they continue to ignore and even screen calls from their upset tenants. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Did I mention my one bedroom apartment costs $200 a month in electric?
Please stay away from this place. The leasing office people sugar coat stuff and make you get the lease. There is absolutely no luxury in this apartment. We were never shown the actual apartment that we were moving in. Instead a model one, we believed them that the house would be clean. It was simply worse and is worse now. The place stinks. And lots of molds which they said we have to live with during the initial inspection. Nothing was given to us clean, not all the places were painted. We couldn't find an apartment for the time we moved from a different state, so we got this place. Biggest mistake. Nasty apartments ever. The Connor group deceived us and now the new management has taken over. Earlier the connor group would take up request only after 48 hours, at least they did do something after 48 hours. But the new coastal ridge doesn't care about whatever service request we give. They are never done on time, we give request two to three weeks and still not taken care of. Just giving away food or hot chocolate will not help. Make the people live here happy by fulfilling their request. And oh well, they increased the trash service to everyday in the weekdays and charge us around $70, we didn't ask you for this management. I am definitely waiting for my lease to end. So I can move to a better place without molds. Wish I could give 0 rating for this apartment.

I do apologize for your experience with previous management. Unfortunately, I cannot speak on their behalf; however, I can do my best to correct your issues moving forward. We are in the process of hiring additional maintenance technicians. Please be patient with us during this transition. The work load is rather abundant for our current staff members. If you would like to speak with me personally feel free to contact the contact the leasing office or stop in. I am confident we can address your concerns in a timely manner. Ashleigh Wagner
Please avoid this community. They would verbally say that sublease is possible, but then they would ask you to pay off the entire year. Also trash is not disposed off regularly. Leasing office is very arrogant. No action is taken for complaints. You would definitely get better apartments in the same school district.
Our closet door came out of hinges and we reported multiple times, after long wait the maintenance guy came in picked up the door to fix it. And we have been following up for many times and atlast after 6 weeks later they called us and said the door was completely broken and need to be replaced , and they are going to charge for it!!! I don't know what were they doing so long and it was just unscrewed from the hinges need to be replace with new one??? Please keep away from this apartment for peace of living.....
Me and my wife just moved it. It's really nive a spacious, clean and airy. The staff is cooperative especially kelly who came by herself for a final inspection and the minor issues have been resolved promptly. Besides all this we have two big grocery stores at a walking distance, the walmart and kroger.
I moved to Somerset starting this year. These are comfortable homes in mid of the city. You have everything you need within 1 mile radius from the apartment. Even the management is friendly, appartments are excellent. The prices are little high comparatively but it is worth when you consider the location.
The room is huge compared at the same price with other apartments. Walk-in closet is very large to store tons of stuff. The interior is great. I love the kitchen set. The range, microwave, fridge and dishwasher looks pretty high standard. The ceiling fan is helpful that it saves money for buying the light. The environment is good as well. Clean and quite.
Close to all possible day to day needs. Quite society. Good for families.
The management team sucks! Apartment over priced! They pay people to write good reviews, do not believe these 5 star reviews! 100 late fee for rent the second day after the first! Should be considered an affordable apartment and not a luxury apartment complex. The person who I dealt with was Megan and she was horrible. Super rude and very unprofessional! Do not waste your money!
Please do not pay the admission fee ($300) and security deposit ($400 upward) unless you have looked at the apartment, reviewed the contract and 100% sure that you are going to move-in as they forfeit all that money if you do not sign the lease. Please pay attention to all the negative reviews - I ignored them and lost $800. They do not have a lease breakage buy-out policy to cater to the needs of the people who are in a transferable job. This is very uncommon as all other apartment complexes in Mason and Sycamore have the lease breakage policy which is generally 2 months notice and 2 months rent. So if you are in a job in which you may be transferred to another location, this is not the place for you.
We found out about added expenses only after living here. Trash is like 47 dollars with 3X a week... they have added expense of commom electric and plus they will also charge for administrative fee every month which just ridiculously overpriced. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to sign the lease here
I moved into my apartment a month back and have been very pleased with it. I had an issue while moving, Shereen and the maintenance staff were quick to resolve it. I also like the near by places and school district is very good.
its in good environment with available everything which are necessity in near by place. Staff is very helpful like Shereen!
very nice community close to regal, restaurants ,Walmart and Kroger.
Very helping staffs in leasing office . Specially Shereen and Brad
The quality of apartments is OK, but its too expensive to live here. For that matter, its the same case with most of apartments in Mason. My expenses are increased by 40% on a whole compared to my previous place, so i am definitely not happy. But, the advantages are school district, good neighbor hood and walk-able grocery and shopping centers.
The company head needs to pay attention here - the management is terrible it needs training !!!!!! The girls working there are extremely rude, no manners , un informed and has no managerial skills ! You call them and give them a work order it is never done for months. Somerset calls you for feedback and you give your feedback and then nothing is changed. The manager is extremely rude. They think they are God gift to mankind. Please give them training. Fortunately there are many new good apartments coming up like latitude and grand stone. This place is running because of Indian community. They fell prey because of Walmart and Kroger right next. Please educate your team. I have lived at many apartments around this one has the worst management . Also do not trust the ratings you have to live here to know how Terrible it is.
Good place to live in...very much caring people in leasing office
The apartments are conveniently located with easy access to grocery stores and amenities. The (current) maintenance/tech guy is really knowledgeable and helpful so a shout out to him! But being severely under-staffed maintenance staff cannot address the problems right away. And the positives end there. The staff at the leasing office is only 'nice' and 'sweet' only at the times of lease signing and when it is time for lease renewal - they start hounding you at least 4 months before the lease is actually up! We already got the ceremonial 'call the office' door tag last week and our lease is not up until the third week of October. We have been staying here since October 2013 (we weren't able to move out for various reasons). Apart from paying a premium price for a not-so-premium apartment complex extra money for trash removal couple of other admin/service fees, what is appalling is the RUDE behavior of the leasing office staff. The handful of times that I have 'dared' to call them with a service request (they have discontinued the online service request service and no, their app does not work), they have just been outright rude, condescending and not ready to listen. I have written emails before to all the email ids available regarding the rude behavior of the leasing office staff but to no avail. Just today. I had to remind a staff member that I am a paying customer and she, being the customer service representative, owes me at least 2 minutes of her time so that I can tell her the problem I am facing in the apartment. PS: I am sure after this review, we will get even worse service from them and will be hit with fees and charges, but I am really frustrated at their rudeness.
I am living in Somerset Apartments from last couple of months and don’t have any complaints so far…. I really liked the location of these apartments Kroger’s, Walmart, Mathnesium, Regal Cinema , Lifetime fitness, Banks all are just on walking distance which makes these apartments different from others. The Rent is definitely on little higher side but that is most likely the premium of location. The only feedback I would have for the management is on Trash Charge which currently is $36.88 and next month they are going to increase it by another $5.00 , these Trash charges are too much for the Trash which just gets picked only 3 times a week and just 1 garbage bag… (this service should be optional)
Stay away from these guys. These guys work all ways to lure money from the tenants. The property they showed me was way different from what they offered. They charge nearly $100 on maintenance. So add up $100 more on the rent. You are just not done yet. They will charge $100 on late fee just by a day, even if you pay on 2nd of the month. Pay thru card or online extra free. Surcharges for using a 3rd party company. Wanna know more, they pay you for writing a good review. Property not kept clean and you see piles of trash all over the trash area. Will have a very tough time with the management on any maintenance issues.
NOT a luxury apartment. I don't want to be rude, but it is what it is. I thought, "There aren't many poor reviews, so it can't be that bad." But it has been after leasing, and I'm a fairly understanding person. Good and bad, but not worth your money. You can find better or the same for cheaper not too far away. I've lived here two months. People should know what they're getting into before they sign a lease here. PLEASE fully inspect your unit BEFORE you sign a lease. Don't sign anything until you're seen the apartment. If it's not ready, either don't move in. Pros: Staff is nice and personable Floor plans are spacious Complex has several good amenities Laundry Hookups Cons: Expensive Apartment was filthy on move-in. Walls were covered in grime in kitchen and bathroom. Grease, dirt, and dead gnats in kitchen. Kitchen cabinets not cleaned out. Large stain on the living room carpet. Apartment had a lot of repairs needing to be done. Entry security was not up to code, deadbolts broken or not fully functional. Several outlets were not in working order. Deck screen was non-existent. Several nicks in the walls. Light switch and outlet covers broken. Bathroom sink not fully functional. Laundry door guide broken. Thermostat cover broken. Did not provide offered services immediately (i.e. valet trash). Took at least 2.5 weeks to fix any major problems. They started working on repairs once I stated that I already intended to leave once my lease was up and asked for compensation. Have not compensated me for the 2.5 weeks during which I lived in the apartment when it was not ready to be moved into and prohibiting me from using their services. Neighbors, at least mine, aren't very courteous. Leave garbage, (chicken bones, water bottles, etc.) all over the place. Are often very loud (And lots of noises normally don't bother me.). Someone stole my trashcan since it was clean and replaced it with their filthy one. Summary: You can have bad neighbors and lots of problems at some other apartment complex for cheaper. Poor excuse for a luxury apartment. UPDATE: After living here for five months, I have a stack of maintenance receipts from issues. Some are single issues, and some are issue that have been covered multiple times because they don't do quality work. The ONE and TWO STAR REVIEWS that can be found online are true. I've always thought those reviews were simply posted by overly biased, bitter people, but they are actually true. For your own good, do not sign a lease.
Hi all , I am currently staying in somerset . I would like to share some points for new comers 1.The over all look and feel from outside iS too good as these are new apartments . 2.Before choosing somerset, don't look for all 5 star ratings as management is giving $25 Amazon gift card for 5 star rating . So many people just for $25 sake they are giving 5 star 3. Management is too worst I can see . First they will say all units are filled and later they will pull up one by one vacant units .So be careful with price tag and unit choosing . U should u should definitely bargain for rent . 4. The maintenance bills will be $100 with trash charges .l 5. Power bills are higher as the apartment comes into commercial area . In winter the power bills will be $300 . 5. As uploaded in pics the Maintenon in some times too worst and some times it's best .. They will not clean outside pool areas .
My name is Zach and currently at Somerset . Somerset has amazing amenities and a great location! Super happy with everything they have to offer!
My Name is Mariam and i am currently a Somerset apartment resident. I really like the environment and the services they provide. Gym is awsome and also the location of the apartments is good as everything is so close by like grocery and lots of good restaurants. I would definitely recommend my friends and family the Somerset apartment.
Super Location. It's very close to everything. Sumerset at Deerfiel.
I moved into Somerset Apartments in 2013, renewed in 2014, and have finally decided not to renew my lease come 2015. The apartment and staff have been wonderful; work orders were completed quickly, staff communicated well, the area was quiet, and its hard to ask for a better location as I am only steps away from any shop I could ever want. If I were solely rating this apartment for the above, it would easily be 5 stars. The only complaint I have is their rent system and coercive sales tactics. This apartment, with all other Conners Group apartments with whom I have spoken, ask for a base rent that is higher than the areas average then add a utility package (some that I have spoken with charge $150-200); the additional fee at Somerset averaged $80-90. They then use pressure tactics in an attempt to close the sale before one looks at other places. The first year I renewed, they permitted me to keep my rent the same, but this year they attempted to raise it by $100. When I held strong, they lowered it to a $50 increase "if you answer now." This is still a significant increase and, as expressed above, I refused. They expressed the rent increase to be in line with the area, however my research has not found this to be true. When adding my current rent with the utility package, other apartments in the Deerfield Township area have rents (with water, sewage, and trash) that will save me $40-130 a month. Also consider, this is savings based on my current rent, not the increase for which they are asking, so add $50-100 to those numbers. Overall, my experience has been wonderful at Somerset. They have great amenities (big gym, two pools, tennis courts, trash pickup) and location (steps from Kroger, Wal-Mart, Starbucks, and Lifetime Fitness); in addition, the staff have been courteous and helpful, when it is not renewal time. If it were not for the rent situation, I would stay here for many more years. Hope this helps in your decision. Best of luck!
So... You're considering Somerset at Deerfield? Here's the thing, I'd advise against it. It's not that this is a BAD place to live, actually far from it. But when the rubber meets the road and you consider what you are paying for, you will realize that you are being taken advantage of. It's not that the overall experience here is terrible, just that the details are overlooked and the prices will nickel and dime you to death. I've lived (and payed for) very very nice accommodations before and it is my opinion that Somerset at Deerfield acts as though they are better than they really are. The bill you as though they are High End Luxury Apartments, but they really are not. 1) When you move here please disregard the sales pitch that an apartment has "just become available" because a previous prospective tenant fell through. This is a story I've heard the employees spin several times on walkthroughs (including to me when I moved in). 2) The kitchen looks great at first glance... but the drawers are too small, the counter space is lacking, the counter surface is chincy, and the floor is that awful fake wood linoleum. 3) The entire apartment seems like it was painted by a 5 year old, or at best a painter that has not yet discovered the brilliance of painters tape. 4) I haven't seen carpet this cheap and unattractive (coarse pale gray) since I lived in a college dorm. 5) Outdoor community grills aren't cared for at all, and I do not trust them to use them... Other than a very nice pool, most of the community assets are in poor condition. 6) The insulation is minimal, so pray you have quiet neighbors. 7) The dumpsters are often overflowing and reek of foul smells which carry well beyond their fences. 8) Trash service, that you can not opt out of, picks up 3 days a week and will run you $39/month. This is laughable service at a ridiculous price. 9) Utility bills come with a $9/month admin fee. Paying online will run you an extra $3/month. For a single person in a 1-bedroom I'm paying $80/per month for utilities not including electric. 10) This is more of a knock on the whole area, not Somerset, but there is no night life to speak of. If that is something you are looking for please be prepared to drive 30 minutes south to Cincy every weekend. 11) The gym is probably the only feature that meets my expectations Overall, Somerset is not a bad place to live. But for the cost you can most certainly do better.
