Property Ratings at Somerset at Towson
I have been a resident here for NOT EVEN SIX MONTHS, and yet my A/C has gone out TWICE within a month of each other. The first time, I had to go TWO DAYS without A/C in 80+ degree weather. It was only after MULTIPLE phone calls that anyone finally came out. The A/C is out again now, and I was told—repeatedly, no less—that someone would come the SAME DAY to fix it. Unsurprisingly, no one ever showed up. It’s honestly baffling how the A/C goes out TWICE in the span of a month, but what’s even more absurd is how no one at the leasing office seems to care. I have been promised nearly THREE TIMES TODAY that someone would come to fix our A/C, yet here we are—still waiting. As if that wasn’t enough, the parking lot is absolutely FILLED with leaves, to the point where I couldn’t see my parking space because it was buried. Thanks to that mess, my car ended up getting towed. I have only lived in one other apartment complex, and things like this NEVER happened there. Get it together, Somerset. This is beyond disappointing, and it’s starting to feel like you genuinely just don’t care.
It has been a pleasure staying at Somerset at Towson! The ladies at the rental office treated me with dignity and respect...they were eager to assist and never treated me unkind. If you are looking for a nice place to stay were you are treated good...don't hesitate, rent at Somerset at Towson. I highly recommend staying here. Tanya K. August 2022

Hi Tanya, thank you so very much for the great review of our on-site team members at Somerset at Towson! They each time such great pride in excelling in customer service, and your review provides confidence that they excel at that. We hope to continue providing you excellent customer service!
Unfortunately it has not been that great after living here for only two weeks. It has been snowy and icy and the parking lots have been very busy so parking has been an issue so much that mine and one of my visitors car was towed twice. My car was towed two days in a row and the people from the office were absolutely no help. The first time I was not correctly parked and I did not have a pass since we did not know the rules for visitors because we had just moved in. The second time I was towed I had my pass on the mirror and it had just snowed so the spots were covered and it was difficult to see what was a visitor spot and what wasn't. In situations like this and since it is a week from Christmas one would think the apartment would cut some slack or would be understanding since it is not cheap to pay for towing. It is just sad to see that this is how they treat their residents that have just moved in and when it is around the holidays. I was hoping for a more accommodating experience at Somerset.

We do apologize that you have not had a great first experience while residing here at Somerset at Towson. At move in our team goes over in detail about parking for both residents and visitors. Our community has a certain amount of parking spots, and we do provide each lease holder with one resident parking permit and the household receives one visitor permit. Should leaseholders have more than one vehicle they are told that they can park free on the street. Our management team sent out memos reminding our residents about parking policies to avoid cars being towed. Unfortunately, the reason behind the towing was not having the proper permits displayed and the second time was parking improperly in visitor parking. While we are sympathetic for the situation, unfortunately the towing company was doing their job and they did provide a discount since you had two vehicles towed. Our hope is for all residents and visitors to enjoy their experience here within Somerset at Towson and we will strive to improve your experience throughout your residency. Should you wish to discuss this matter further, please reach out to the Property Manager directly at 410.296.7725.
Somerset has been an amazing first time renting experience. My boyfriend and I moved here when we were students at Towson and stayed even after we graduated. We even convinced our friends to move in across the hall because they loved it too! We moved into a one bedroom with a den (half bedroom) and its huge. The only reason we are leaving is because we are buying a house! The leasing staff has always been wonderful here. Every time I go into the office, I am greeted like a friend and they are always able to help me. I always prefer to go in person rather than call for anything because of that. We have lived here for over two years now with very few issues. Our fridge broke this past weekend and within 24 hours, someone was here to replace our fridge- on a weekend! Maintenance is always friendly and very knowledgable. Additionally, the pool here is great. The parking is free and convenient, as is visitor parking. Utilities are cheap. In unit washer and dryer. Huge bedrooms, walk in closets, and overall square footage. Within 5 minutes of basically everything you need. You just cant beat it in Towson.
Somerset at Towson is the perfect choice for my friends and I. We all attend Towson University and it is perfect off campus housing for us. 100% recommend!

We are happy to see the 5 star review and that our community is perfect for you and your friends! Don't forget to refer some more friends for a resident referral bonus!
The only good thing here is the square footage per apartment. Other than that, everything breaks. My washer and dishwasher broke within the first week here. My dryer almost caught on fire. The sinks don't drain quickly, water sits stagnant in them for hours. My maintenance requests get ignored. This is not a quiet community whatsoever. My upstairs and downstairs neighbors party all the time to the point where my bed frame literally shakes, but what else would you expect from being so close to colleges...I guess? I regret signing this lease.

This is a good place to live. The apartments are large and the area is good for children. We are close to everything and feel at home. I will stay here a long time.

Thank you for your review of our community! We look forward to serving you for the many years to come!
The location of Somerset at Towson is almost remote it is surrounded by tall trees. It's almost hidden. There's the sound of birds chirping and the sound of the squirrels running down the trees onto the autumn leaves (early mornings and late evenings in autumn) There is a pool and a playground that is located adjacent to each other with just enough privacy of the tall trees. The staff members in the office and the technicians are always friendly and ready to help. The apartment itself is spacious, there is a washer and dryer there's also a dishwasher included in the apartments. The location itself is great because there is a shopping center nearby and the mall, the movie theater and Towson University. I would recommend this location to anyone, if you're looking for an apartment you should give Somerset at Towson a visit.
Don't live here unless you're willing to deal with the following: Mice, sewage flooding, refrigerator/freezer leaking, washing machine breaking, microwave breaking, obnoxious college students (I am a student myself), leak from utility closet, leak in bathroom sink, tons of markings and dents on the walls from previous tenants that were never painted over or fixed, just circled with a red pen, incompetence with repairs, and gross musty smell that never goes away (I'm assuming there is mold growing somewhere). It is important to note that I have been living at somerset for less than a year. Now let me elaborate on these issues. The mice issue was ongoing and all the leasing office did was send out an exterminator to put down sticky traps, time and time again. They would not believe us when we told them the mice were coming in and leaving through a gap in the front door (we saw them enter and exit through here every night). It took multiple requests to the leasing office to have that gap in the door fixed because they never fixed it properly the first two times. The only reason they fixed it properly the third time is because my roommate had to stand over the maintenance guy's shoulder and explain to him step by step how the mice are coming in and what needed fixed. The sewage flooding wasn't entirely somerset's fault, but it took two weeks to finally get all of the damaged carpet out and replaced The fridge/freezer has leaked THREE TIMES, each time it was the same issue (a hose being corroded) and each time it flooded the floor into the kitchen and the living room. Each time we have had the carpet padding ripped up, giant fans in the apartment to dry everything, and new padding put down. We have had two different sets of neighbors live directly above our apartment. Both sets were college boys. The noise level coming from them was INSANE and all at hours during the night and day. We had to call the police on them many times. We have chips of drywall flaking off the ceiling from their constant partying and stomping. The leasing office has done nothing about that. There is also a really disgusting old musty smell in my apartment that has never gone away since I moved in. My roommates and I have tried spray air fresheners, scented wall plug ins, lighting candles, using wax burners, and opening windows yet nothing has worked to get rid of the smell. It is uninviting and puts me in a sour mood every time I walk into my apartment.
The Somerset at Towson has the best apartment for price and the staff that never lets you down. Leasing office staff always makes you feel welcome and take their time to address and questions and/or concerns. They never rush you and understand this is your home. The property is kept nice and maintenance is handled in a timely matter. I cant say enough great things about this community!
I moved into Somerset during college and am remaining here after a year. There are a few set backs of this place. One of those being I was below very noisy people who played music all times of the day, even after midnight on the weekdays, but I emailed the staff about my noise complaint and since then they have been pretty quiet. Another problem was that the apartment seemed to have a lot of problems throughout my time of residence, but I put in maintenance requests and they came and help to fix the problem every time. If you do need maintenance for anything I would recommend putting in a request online. They seem to respond much faster that way than if you were to talk to the staff in the leasing office directly. Besides that I haven't had much of any problems. The staff was always very helpful and willing to work with me. They even let us have a third pet after we asked and had it approved. The staff and maintenance are willing to work with you if you tell them the situation and what is happening. They really want you to feel happy living in this community.
I would definitely recommend this complex. It's better than other similar ones in the area. Parking is great and having a washer/dryer in the unit is very nice. It feels less "college-kidy" than other places I've been but there is still a presence of course. I haven't had any major issues and have been here for a while now.
My fiancé and I lived at Somerset at Towson for just over a year. We absolutely loved the apartment complex from the very beginning. From the friendly staff, to the ability to have a pet, to the large floor plans, we enjoyed it all. We loved having a nice open floor plan that we could really place or move our furniture in any way that we wanted. One of the things that drew us to Somerset at Towson was the big kitchen - we both like to cook so it was a nice sized kitchen for an apartment and was a lot bigger than other apartments that we looked at in the area. We never had any problems with noise or disturbances from other people in apartments around us. As in any apartment there are times when maintenance needs to be done, but somehow the maintenance and management team made it really easy! If we were to call them, they came quickly and were prepared to handle anything. The only reason we moved from our apartment was because my fiancé got relocated for his job - otherwise we would still be there. We would highly recommend this apartment complex.

Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased that you were satisfied with Somerset at Towson's management; our residents are our priority and we are so pleased to have had you as a valuable resident. Best of luck and again, thank you!
This is the worst place i have ever lived. BE warned it is a STUDENT residence. Students party here a lot. There is constant smoking in front of the buildings, people swearing, yelling and partying. The grounds are always dirty. This is not a cheap place, you can find MUCH better accommodation in another building. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE. You will be horrified at how terrible it is.

Manager property doesn't care about resident needs. Old apartments, bugs, leaks inside the walls, mold everywhere and if you call to report something you'll never be attended

Somerset is a lovely community! Many amenities available, very welcoming environment, clean and safe for a reasonable price.
First, some of the leasing office employees can be very rude and often, not helpful, sometimes they don't even bother to return your call and I have been hung up on more than once. Maintenance has great workers and they are quick to respond to requests. I have a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment and the bedrooms are really spacious, with great closet space. The kitchen is nice, there's a lot of counter space, a microwave included and in most apartments, a washing machine and dryer. I've had a lot of trouble with the washing machine however, and they've had to replace it twice. The dining room and living room areas are spacious. For the price you are paying, it's a large apartment considering what's available in the Towson area, but there's also the noise. On weekends, there's loud music and people hanging outside of the building. I've noticed a lot of beer cans and cigarette butts collect around the entrance of the buildings and don't always get cleaned up quickly. You can hear your neighbors walking around and talking, even with your TV on, the walls are thin! The leasing office isn't very helpful when you have noise complaints either, I have had to call the police on more than one occassion and still, the leasing office doesn't act. The complex itself is where I have the biggest issues. The appearance of the complex is dingy, the buildings look old and when you first walk into the apartment buildings, it's very dark and not very appealing. The pool is only open on weekends, and it's in an area surrounded by trees so it doesn't get very good sunlight. The complex itself is surrounded by huge trees, which are pretty, but no matter where you park, your car is covered with sap and leaves, and when storms hit, branches have a tendency to fall, so you have to be aware of where you park your car.
Somerset at Towson is a gem located very close to Towson, both the campus and uptown. Mostly families live in the complex, with a few college students sprinkled here and there. This is because no more than 2 students can occupy any apartment. I always feel safe in the complex. Rent is a little steep, but you pay for what you get. They have a pool, but it's mostly in the shade. Overall, an awesome place to lease.
My experience at Somerset was the worst apartment experience of my life. I have lived in 4 complexes now over the last 12 years. The leasing office staff are rude. Edith talks down to you like you are dirt. Heather the manager doesn't care about the residents. She's only concerned with her paycheck. If you need information, plan on calling or emailing or stopping by at least 10 times to find out something very simple. The entire company is a rip off. They will charge you for every last thing you could possibly imagine. When we moved in, the apartment was filthy. There were holes in the walls and bugs EVERYWHERE. Even after the pest control visited our apartment multiple times, we still had bugs. Huge bugs. The entire apartment smelled musty and damp. You couldn't pay me to live here again. Save yourself the frustration. You will NEVER feel home here.

I enjoy living at this apartment. It is very spacious for the price. I live in a one bedroom with washer and dryer in house. The area is safe and quiet. The management are very helpful and responsive. The kitchen and bathroom are updated. Overall I am happy with this place. A gem among overpriced apartments in Towson.
I have lived here for one semester and am beginning my second. I like it here, however, I live alone and the noises are sometimes creepy. The walls aren't that thick, so when I'm in my living room alone and the neighbors are having a party, I can always hear it. It creeps me out some when I'm in bed and I hear someone else's door open and shut, it almost sounds like it's in my apartment. Other than that, I haven't had to call for maintenance help once. I will say that I feel what I'm paying for a one bedroom is kind of pricy, but at the same time my apartment is very spacious. You could easily fit another bed, even two in my bedroom and still have our own space. The closet space is amazing, and I love having my own washer/dryer.
The apartments are big and it is located well but the place isnt very well kept and the buildings are old and need repairs. The photos in the website have been photo-shopped because the grounds are pretty ugly and the pool is not well kept.
Ginsey was a great help. Warm feeling is what I felt. Hope to become a resident of one of the larger 2bd with patio or balcony and the new renovations a must have.
