Property Ratings at Somerset
Sommerset apt just had an ice cream social & I one a free laundry card ??!!! I have been here for almost a year & I will diffently sign a new lease. Management & maintenance are all super nice & is always helpful ??
I absolutely love my place ! Coming from New York, You get a lot more for your money. Glad I live in Somerset because It has the best looking complexes in the area. The staff is nice and accommodating. The apartments are also more spacious than others. Everything is pretty much at ease, from paying your bills to receiving your packages w/o hassle. Don't have a complaint at all. I love it here !
Apartment complex has gone downhill! Poor management/No management. Hallways dirty, smell. People smoking pot in hallway - management could care less. Worst apartments around. Worst place I've ever lived!
Definitely one of the better options for a low income area. The management is reasonably nice, and maintenance is decent. It's a smoke free campus but you can always smell smoke in the building. The air conditioner leaves definite room for improvement and when I moved in the apartment wasn't very clean though I had brand new carpet.
This complex is fairly large but the office staff doesn't just treat you like a number. It offers peaceful areas to relax with the family at the pool and park. Some apartments offer great views of the lake with a fountain. The summer time offers the sounds of kids playing and the management always comes up with different ways to show appreciation to the tenets with gatherings and parties. There are also convenient grocery stores and a new mall and shops right across the street. Overall, this is a peaceful and enjoyable place to live!
I have lived at Somerset for about 5 years now and have watched the management team decline. The maintenance team is spot on and will get things fixed quickly. It's nice to be allowed pets but it doesn't come without a steep price. Tenets are also required to pay for the water, sewer, and trash which I've never seen required. If you are planning on moving to Somerset make sure you get into one of the newer buildings because the older long buildings need a lot of update. The appliances are out of date. The dumpsters could be places more conveniently for some of the buildings instead of across a road and a large parking lot. The pool is nice to enjoy on hot summer days, when its open and the computer lab is closed because there is no internet. Enjoy Somerset!
These apartments are really so nice, a short distance to DMACC, Southridge mall and many stores. Very conveniently located. The management are really and kind. The grounds look kept and clean, the maintenance workers are quick at repairs. My 4 year old daughter loves this place, there is a pond with many geese we can go feed right by our building. We got very lucky as this is such a quiet building and community. Feels like home.
Pretty nice apartment. Located in a nicer area of the south side of Des Moines. Good price for a two bedroom unit. We pay 715 a month, but unfortunately, no utilities are included. We have a good sized living room that can be split off as a dining room too. A good sized balcony too. A lot of restaurants and stores are really close too (within a mile). The landlords are very nice and are very good about taking care of problems when necessary. The maintenance staff usually shows up within 24 hours unless you send something in on the weekend. Overall, I like this place a lot. I just wish it was closer to downtown. That's the only real con that I have about Somerset.
My husband, daughters, my mom, and I moved in to a 3 bedroom apartment in March 2015. The apartment is pretty roomy for the price, although I wish the third bedroom was bigger. It's a bit of a tight squeeze for me and my husband. The kitchen and living room is a nice open floor plan. However, there's not a dining room/kitchen table area. The area is pretty quiet. Our neighbors have been friendly ad there are lots of kids for our girls to play with. The pool area is great and the fitness center is nice. I like having a card for laundry instead o quarters, but it's a little pricey for a load of laundry. I dislike having to pay for utilities as I've never lived in an apartment where utilities weren't included in the rent. Overall it's been great and I can see us here for a while.
This is my second time posting this as it appears that my first post was deleted! I have neighbors above me that are very inconsiderate!! All day I hear stomping, running, jumping, slamming, etc. I have reported this to the office twice and was told the issue was addresses but still the issue continues!!! I have only been here a few weeks and I regret moving here! Initially I was only going to sign a 6 month lease and lord knows I wish I had've followed my first mind!
Best Apts I've Lived At. Great access to everywhere in walking distance, well kept areas, and just overall great. I hope to move back soon.

I really wish I would've found somewhere else to live!!! I moved here from out of town and was in a bit of a hurry to find somewhere to reside. My neighbors above me have no respect for us living underneath them. There is constant stomping, bumping and jumping all day. It's horrible. Even if you have kids, you should respect your neighbors!!!! I hate I didn't follow my first mind to sign a 6 month lease!!!!!!!!!! I also work from home so this was a huge mistake! I really wish I could find someone to take over this lease. When our lease is up, we are out of here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
