Property Ratings at Somerset Park Apartments
I am living in Somerset from the past 1 year and now for my lease renewal they increased my rent by $200 per month, but when I see on their website the rent for the same model apartment, they have listed it for even less than what I am currently paying and this is not only with me I have talked to other neighbors as well and everyone have the same problem. When all of us went together to the leasing office to talk about this, they bluntly said that they just want us to vacat the place and go so that they can get new people and earn more on the deposit money everytime. So my suggestion if you just want to stay for a year then its good but you dont want the hassel to mive your stuff every year than dont come to somerset they will heavly increase your rent when renewal comes.

We recognize your concerns regarding the lease renewal and we understand that any changes can be unsettling. We assure you that our rates are competitive and are influenced by various factors. Our aim is to provide a positive living experience for all our residents. We would like to address your concerns further and find a solution that works for you. Please reach out to us directly at admin-somerset@solomonorg.com. Thank you.
Just for getting reply on my application status it takes more than 1 week and meanwhile they do not also pick your call. You just have to keep on dialing their number in a hope that they might pick your call after you submit your application. They will be really nice and quick in reply before you submit your application but once done you will be given a treatment as if you have done some crime and avoid you.

Never ever live in this community their hidden charges would live you with many surprises When you break the lease you have to pay 2 months flat rate with a $125 move out inspection fee which i never heard off Walls are painted with poor quality paint , walls are thin you can hear you neighbors talk, washers are mostly broken most of the time. The only pros is community is very peaceful thats all i loved in the property.
The walls are very thin. Full of rude neighbors who constantly let their kids run through the halls and above you at all times of the day. Management does nothing to deter the behavior.
DO NOT RENT HERE. They will literally attempt to steal your entire security deposit with BS charges. I just received my security deposit disbursement form. I moved out at the end of October but my lease end date was in the middle of November. I turned my keys in and a week later I get this form expecting my security deposit back. NOPE. They tacked on unpaid rent charges (which is untrue because I specifically asked how much I owed before I left and paid it in full) then they charged $175 in "cleaning fees" which is a complete lie and I have pictures showing I cleaned the place spotless before I left. and listen to this, which will probably be the most important thing I say, no matter what you do or say they take out a $125 "turnover" fee that apparently was included in the lease. No one can explain what this fee is for and essentially what it sounds like is a penalty for moving out....or in their words "getting the apartment ready for the next tenant..." Now they are claiming that I OWE THEM money after they took the entire security deposit. Not only is this baffling, but the amount I paid in rent was never worth it, which is why I left. The floor was uneven, like literally there was a dent in my kitchen floor, the basement looks like crypt there are spiders everywhere and the ceiling is falling apart, the flooring is a mess (insects constantly got in the apartment from outside due to cracks under the windows), the doors into the apartment building were broken, leaving animals and rodents free to stroll in at any time, packages went missing all the time that people literally had to leave signs saying "Please stop taking our Amazon packages" and all in all, not a single person who works there can give you a straight answer when you ask them about rent/maintenance issues/ or essentially anything else. They don't want to help in any way, just tack on as many charges so they can drain your security deposit. Bottom line, really be careful and read your lease before moving in here. Also, make sure you really inspect the apartment before you do. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
While I highly recommend the apartment units themselves, the staff at Somerset Park Apartments is very unprofessional and unapproachable. The staff is rude to tenants as well as the leasing process was a headache, as constant misinformation was being relayed via different leasing agents as well as the leasing manager. I was hopeful these problems would resolve once moved in, but I have found the administration staff to be just as difficult to work with over the past year I have lived here. I would not recommend moving here due to the numerous interactions I have encountered with staff. I will say that the maintenance staff is not included in this review, as they are very helpful and friendly.
Buckle Up, it has been a crazy couple of months. We moved into these apartments on April 30th of this year, after filling out the Move in Evaluation Form we began having problems. On May 22nd we began to notice that our apartment was way too hot, even when we ran the air conditioning it was always over 79 Degrees, even in the middle of the night. On May 25th we notified the apartment complex of the issue and they sent someone out to check, but they quickly left. May 27th we called the office again and were told that it would be fixed on the 28th. We were told that the damage was our fault for not checking the unit out when we filed the Move in Evaluation Form. The air conditioners are not labeled with the apartment numbers and they are not listed on the Evaluation Form at all. We did not have a functioning air conditioner until May 30th. Next came the rodent issues. On July 9th we found that something had gotten into our breadbox and eaten through multiple packages of bread. We immediately notified the apartment complex, they didn’t respond until the following day. We found a note taped to our door telling us that nobody would be coming to check out the problem until July 14th and: “If you do not know what type of pest you have, please save a sample in a zip-lock type bag for [the exterminators] to identify. Please leave on the kitchen counter…” We were horrified, but we set a trap and kept a dead mouse multiple days for them. The exterminator that came in on the 14th left additional traps just in case. August 5th we had 2 dead mice, we notified the complex immediately and on August 6th they were removed and new traps were set. That evening we got another mouse and immediately contacted the office once more. We asked for the full trap to be removed, and if the apartment would be doing more than placing traps for the infestation. August 7th we found a note again notifying us that they would not be coming until the 11th. We tried calling the office, maintenance, and the emergency but nobody answered any of the phones, so we left messages on each. They expect us to live with a dead animal in our home for four days! Although these apartments seem nice, the office will not take any responsibility for the problems happening in their buildings. I was told by a staff member that the apartment complex was not at fault, he also expressed that “we [Somerset Apartments] are not negligent”.
I stayed there for a year, from March 2018 to March 2019. Management was responsive, and I got the deposit quickly after I moved out. I really liked the area, though I didn't love how it was hard to find parking after 5 PM, when everyone got home from work, unless you rented a covered space. Otherwise, it was a good stay!
Huge black ants even during winter made it to my bed twice in 3 month !! Expect Nasty Odor from your neighbors apartments and hallways !! Management and Administrators are the worst. Their personal opinion is over your documented evidence. Unless you enjoy smelling and hearing your neighbors breath, avoid under any cost.
I moved in about a month ago. The apartments are very decent. The area is really convenient and nice. The rent is a bit pricey but that's because it is the Troy area. I can definitely see a lot of improvements being done around the property. Not a bad place to live. Staff is nice.

Worst female employees sitting in office without giving proper response. Money suckers. These people are dangerous than beg bugs. I gave them a deposit of 1400 out of which they returned $800. When I asked them they gave all stupid reasons for deductions. And the attitude in their voice is like they are returning that money from their pockets. Apartment staff behave disgustingly! Outside -21C degrees, heating does not work. Called emergency service. An employee came to repair the heating after he left the heating works for several hours and then breaks again! When he came back and I asked him why the heating was constantly breaking, he started yelling at me! threw everything and left! The heating is still not working! This has been going on for several days. It is very cold outside! My son freeze in the apartment! Disgusting service! Call to the administration is not possible!

I'm sorry your experience warranted a 1-star review. We have standards every team member should adhere to and it seems that these standards were not upheld in our interactions with you. We are aware of your situation with your heat and have responded to all of your calls. Unfortunately this happened during the coldest days of the season. We sincerely apologize and will have the Property Manager to reach out to you.
Stay away if you ever want to see your deposit back. I cleaned the apartment spotless and they still charged "turn over fee" which they sneaked in the contract (and doubled over just 2 years) without notifying me. They charge $65 for someone to drive 2 minutes and open the door with a key if you locked yourself out (once in 2 years!). Not an honest business model. Overpriced for what it is.

Management couldn't care less about its tenants except for their $$$$$$$ ... stay as far away from this money grabbing place as possible.

On the surface the place looks wonderful. You think "oh newly remodeled, nice looking floors" until you really look and realize my six year old could have laid this flooring better. And after a few months the closet doors start to fall apart and you're replacing lights every month bc something is wrong with their electric. Then if for any reason you have to talk to anyone in the offices do not expect them to be pleasant or care. Had our storage unit broken into and the manager still could not manage to be nice or helpful. Also, the security is a joke, they drive aimlessly around for a bit then park in the back of one of the parking lots and smoke.

Poor management. Nobody ever knows whats going on and nobody ever has a straight answer for anything. Very unorganized management/administration department. the apartments are nice inside but in order to get to the apartment you have to go through VERY poorly maintained hallways with wallpaper peeling off, old stained smelly carpet and much worse.

I wish I had taken the previous reviews seriously when choosing an apartment community. We had signed all of the agreements before the lease, dropped off the security deposit, and were ready to move in two days. Then they email us that they accidentally quoted us the wrong price and we were going to owe $2k more over the life of the lease. "Sorry, nothing we can do." Save your self a hard credit pull and the time and effort spent questioning why the customer is going to pay for their mistake, and stay away from this unethical housing management.

Three months living at Somerset. Great location, very nice remodeled unit, amenities, and price level reflect all these pros. Seems to be friendly community and I like seeing people walking around the complex since early morning, giving the place live and safe feel. My building is quite, probably because of one-bedroom units, but outside the building gets to be very loud, especially throughout the evening, 4 pm – 9 pm...and on weekends when I am at home. It seems that parents just let kids run around, between the buildings, screaming (literarily), instead of taking them to a specious park down the road. That would be the only con so far…I guess (hope) the noise will go away once the cold weather kicks in. All in all good place.

I moved into a renovated one bedroom apartment in April 2016. The apartment was great, the renovations were amazing, and the building (with only 4 apartments total) was quiet. But a few weeks ago, Merry Christmas! We want you to renew your lease and we're raising your rent too. Though I do like my apartment, I can't justify living here for THAT much money. Guess I'll be moving out on March 31.
That basically sums it all in one. The ladies work in the leasing office are very unprofessional. As soon as I walked in there were three working no one acknowledged me and my interest in the property. Then one quoted "I already had five walk ins". Really it's your job don't like it find something new to do. Thank you
i have been living here for almost 2 years now. The buildings are full of roaches , how much you try they wont go away. one of the apartment had a murder during robbery and the worst part is her neighbour did the robbery, that was a shock for the whole tenants
Somerset Park Apartments just changed ownership. The new namangement is much more clear and organized in their execution. They have given the grounds an entire facelift. They offer newly renovated untils which have so much to offer. The maintenance staff is always quick and works hard to get issues resolved. Questions get answered quickly when needed by the new administration staff. The property is beautiful and tranquil. Safety of residents is withheld very well and there are little no no safety issues on property. While the property is pet friendly there are not a lot of pets on site to pose any smell hazards. Newly planted trees are so nice to see. There is ample parking here. Tennis courts, golf courts, community garden, children's park with brand new outdoor grills are totally rare in most places but here it is the norm. Quiet, nice place to walk around, and very attentive staff make this place an over all nice place to live. It would be difficult to replace the type is place we have here at Somerset.

This is a fabulous place to live. The staff is friendly and helpful. The maintenance is superb and came out in a timely manner. I couldn't have a better experience. There are several pools in the complex and the park is beautiful. The people are very nice and say hi as you pass, very friendly.
I love this apartment. We have lot of amenities like swimming pool , golf course , cycling path , gym . We are enjoying to stay here .

I really like living at Somerset Park. The grounds are beautiful and the complex is really quiet in the evening. The apartments are spacious with tons of closet space. There are some minor things that can be improved, but the complex it's under new ownership and management, so I'm optimistic. Overall this is a great place for the price and location.
