Property Ratings at Somerset Park
First of all they charge you $50 per month for a second car and $100 per month for a third car. They charge you $25 for anyone visiting you to park their car if they stay overnight. All cars not registered get towed to some tow yard in Perth Amboy and entire county away. Second the maintenance is horrible. The playground is not maintained. The grounds the basketball courts and the tennis courts are not maintained and the apartments are not maintained. The tennis court is falling apart the basket ball court is falling apart and the playgrounds are falling apart. They only have a pool open 3 months out of the year you have to pay $250 to go to. They have a new 24 hour gym but is tiny with just some equipment and there is zero security. People hang out in the parking lot smoking weed and eating throwing garbage everywhere. They charge you a pet deposit and $40 per month per dog if you have a pet. No dog park available. Windows and front doors are very old with gaps and drafts. The front doors are so poor they can just kick it in and the keys do not work properly. The bathtub in my unit has no proper drain and I have to pay a plumber out of pocket to replace it because all they give you is a rubber stopper. The appliances are very old and miss matched. There are basements but they are freezing in the winter because they have very poor insulation or maybe no insulation at all. This will cause you heating bill to be very high. The do not maintain the hot water heaters the central heating unit or the air conditioning units. I had to pay out of pocket to have the vents cleaned and sanitized because there was black mold growing in the v ents and in the system. I also had to have the dryer vent cleaned and it was so stuffed with lint we are lucky to not have had a fire. The rent here is reasonable if you do not have more than one car or a pet and the location is good.
Worse maintenance and property management ever! I had multiple floods in my basement and lots of mold that was ignored after calling for months. They dont care if your health is at risk.
The size is the only good thing about this place. The customer service is TERRIBLE!! Maintenance comes in your apt without leaving notice they were there. They charge EVERYONE to use the pool. The rent costs too much to not include the pool. The basketball hoops have been broken for months and seems like they will never be fixed. The teens are very roudy and very disrespectful especially during the warmer months and they leave trash everywhere on the grounds. I wouldn't recommend anyone to move here.
These apartments are very nice. Most include washer and dryer, and all first floors have a BASEMENT! Which is great, plenty of storage space, nice carpets, lots of light. Also, apartments are central air and heat, which is great for the warmer and colder months. Apartments also include a rentable area for parties, a pool and spa for an extra fee. The only problem is, the rent goes up, by A LOT, when you go to resign your lease. We have been living here for almost 5 years, and the rent keeps going up everytime we resign the lease, which can be normal, but it is almost EXCESSIVE. And the maintenance staff does half-jobs on fixing things like the washer/dryer, and the AC when it is down.
Somerset Park is a great place to love. The apartments are really spacious. I love the fact that there is a washer and dryer inside the house.
