Sonterra West Apartments

My rating is closer to 4.5 The *only* reason I would take away half of a star is because laundry is not in unit (although this is difficult to find in San Angelo anyway), there wasn’t a microwave. Beyond that, I can’t complain about my experience! While I was living at sonterra west, management changed 3 times, but every time they were attentive, friendly and easy to work with. The apartment complex is in a good location right by a main road, and is quiet and safe. Management will take care of your packages for you. Maintenance was quick to respond and did a good job. They change the filters and spray for bugs every month. When I moved in the apartment was clean and well taken care of. At one point someone kept parking in my parking spot- and management dealt with it quickly.

This complex is always nicely maintained. The landscaping is immaculate. Maintenance is always quick to respond to requests. And the office staff is very friendly and courteous! Very nice!

There are a million things I like about this place, but I , mainly like how chill the community is. Hardly ever hear noise. I have covered parking to protect my baby. And their pet policy is reasonable.

I travel a lot in my line of work, so I needed a place that would accommodate a short term lease that would not cost me an arm and a leg. Fran, the property manager, was able to do this for me at short notice. My one bedroom apartment was more than suitable for my needs. The property is located almost right at the center of San Angelo so it was close to everything! I would definitely rent here again if I ever come back to San Angelo.

The people at the front desk are always attentive to your needs and willing to help with nearly any issue. Excellent customer service

Management is fantastic, the ladies in the office always take good care of us. They pay for our cable which is a big plus. The grounds are well maintained and maintenance is on the ball when it comes to repairs. The rates are reasonable. Unit was clean when we moved in! Would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed living at Sonterra West. Maintenance was great, Management was great. you can tell they really do care about their residents and not just collecting money. My Air conditioner went out in September of 2018 when it was still pretty hot. They didn't just replace the outside unit, they replaced the entire inside unit as well. That was much appreciated. The maintenance guys even helped me get my keys out of my car when I locked them in. Really good people.

I loved living here! Management was always so helpful! Maintenance was always punctual with repairs and never left any type of mess behind. Location is relatively central and is easily accessible from the loop. I would highly recommend living here.

I really like my apartment. It's close to ASU, shopping and the highway. I like they give free cable so all I have to pay for is my internet.

I love my new home its cozy and updated. I love how attentive the staff is to any questions I have had and the fitness center is just added bonus.

My husband and I lived here for about a year and we loved it. The staff are great, and the amenities are awesome.

These apartments are gated,which I love. The people in the office are extremely helpful. I've lived here for a little over 6 months and from what I have seen, the maintenance staff is always on top of it. This really is a great community. Keep up the great work.

Sonterra west is the most friendly, clean gated community I’ve ever lived in. The management is amazing and the maintenance staff are on point and very diligent at there job. They have an area where dogs can play and they have a poop clean up station for the dogs. The outside area also has a place where you can bbq and they pool is so nice in the summer. The laundry mat is on the property which is so nice and the location of the apartments are perfect! Right across from the animal hospital and so close to HEB and other stores! I love living here. God has truly blessed me with the perfect place to live.

I just moved in and I’m loving the community. It’s very quiet and my apartment is great. The location is perfect and so is the price. Maintenance is very helpful and the manager is sweet, she can always answer any questions I have. I looked at a lot of different apartments but I’m glad to call Sonterra West my home.

I have been in the Sonterra West Apartments for a little over a year, and can tell you that it is the best apartment I have ever lived in! We are under new management, and I can not say enough nice things about how well the manager takes care of each resident! Maintenance issues are taken care of immediately, no questions asked. The maintenance guys are always courteous and knowledgeable about any problems. If something breaks, it is replaced and most problems are taken care of as soon as the office is notified, and usually fixed that day, unless parts have to be ordered for anything. I have had no bug problems, and the apartment has exterminating done once a month. The grounds are taken care of constantly. The pool is always clean, aa well as the laundry room. The management is in the process of updating the fitness room. The apartments are quiet and no problems with loud music or people laughing and talking outside at night. I paid extra for the covered parking, and it is nice to be a little cooler in the summer, or for protection from the weather. I cannot say enough good things about the place I now call home. If you are single or a couple, the apartments at Sonterra West, and the most reasonable rent, would make this an ideal place to live!

From the moment that I came in to view an apartment to the moment I moved in, the staff here at Sonterra West have been very sweet and helpful, especially the office staff. They made me feel very welcome and answered all of my questions promptly. The apartments are priced reasonably and they have been updated recently. I really like the wood look-alike flooring they have added. The management here always responds quickly and they gladly pay to replace anything that may break. Again, I can't say how great it is to have a staff that I feel really cares for it's residents. Thank you Sonterra West. ??

The property manager is a nightmare. She has been here for just two months and the entire staff has changed! She’s very rude, inconsistent, and unhelpful. She seems to have a pride issue. Unfortunately after living here for two years and loving the staff, I am looking forward to the end of my lease in August because I do not want to live somewhere with a manager like Krystal. And it’s not just me, I have talked to many other residents who are not happy with her either!

I have been living in these apartments for over 3 years now and I have finally been fed up with this place. Management is terrible and can be very rude. The pool is small and management only allows each resident to only have 2 guests. They also charge you for EVERYTHING! You want to have a covered parking spot? That’s going to be an extra $15. You want two parking spots, that’s $30 extra added to your rent. Don’t even get me started about the terrible air conditioning and water heater problems. Seems like everytime the temperature gets above 85° outside, the A/C can’t seem to keep up and cool off my small 2 bedroom apartment. I even had to buy my own window unit to keep my apartment cool enough because it was so hot. There always seems to be plumbing and water heater issues (especially during the winter months). I had to shower with cold water for 1 entire week before it even got fixed and that’s because I had told the manager in the office about it as soon as it had happened. Also, this entire “gated community” thing that the complex advertises, it’s a fluke. The gate is always breaking and never works half of the time anyway. So, spare yourself the time and the money spent at this complex and take your hard earned money elsewhere. There are plenty more options in town for lesser/equal to the price you’ll pay here (and the other complex’s offer more square footage per unit).

I moved from out of state into Sonterra West Apartment and stayed for just three weeks. During that time I discovered the complex had a very serious cockroach issue. Despite regular sprayings, I saw cockroaches, both big and small, numerous times each day. Clearly their extermination company was failing to fix the issue. They were in every room and there were even dead ones smashed in a cabinet, apparently killed by previous tenants. Because I had not moved any furniture into the unit yet, I made the decision to move to a different place to avoid the risk of all of my things being infested once they arrived. Cockroaches are unhealthy to live with and so I broke my six-month lease. Sonterra proceeded to turn over the next five months rent to a collection agency and did not acknowledge their failure of keeping the unit a sanitary and safe place to live. Again, I was there for just three weeks, left the unit cleaner than when I arrived and they already had my deposit -- which I feel would easily cover the expense of re-listing the unit, or better yet, hiring a new exterminator. Don't let the looks fool you, this place is dirty.

The apartments are very small. There are better and bigger options in town for the price you will pay here. The office staff may appear nice, but they are extremely unhelpful and very rude when talking on the phone. They often do not return calls or follow up with previously discussed issues. The staff made my time living here unpleasant and very unwelcoming.

Sonterra West is a great place to live for numerous reasons. The front office ladies are always nice and extremely helpful, the maintence crew is always working hard, do a great job at what they do, and they are very friendly as well. It's also a safe place to live, I've never felt endangered, and it's also a gated community. I would definitely advise looking at this apartment complex first!

The location in regards to most things in town is convenient, HEB, ASU, and numerous restaurants are nearby. However, that sums up the positive aspects in my opinion. While being close to the locations listed is nice, it is close to a bar that at times can be loud enough that you can easily hear it in your room. They have a gym, though half the time the cables in the machines are not lying on their respective rollers, making the machines useless. The bike in the gym has been broken since I moved in, nearly two years ago. There are no free weights either. When I asked about whether or not they ever walk through or check the gym equipment on a regular basis they answered that they do not, so issues that have been there since moving in will likely remain there and you will be better off going elsewhere, even if that means paying membership fees. Whenever they spray for bugs, they do not do a very thorough job, even when you open and clear up all cabinets and drawers. There is limited covered parking and recently have had frequent maintenance that has typically lasted longer than planned, forcing vehicles to park alongside the fences as there was not enough space. I have also had several instances where maintenance requests on the apartment were not completed. The air conditioning is not adequate to keep the apartment below 80 when temperatures outside reach into the mid 90s or higher. There have also been times where the trash has been overflowing and laying around the dumpsters as well, though this is somewhat a rare occurrence. While the people working in the office may be nice and respectable when speaking to them in person, while talking to them over the phone they have occasionally been fairly rude. Overall, if you can find another apartment, I would strongly recommend considering other options.

Located near everything I need! I could get to the grocery store in just a few minutes, or could jump on the loop and be across town in no time! Loved the gate, swimming pool was nice when it was open. Love it!

My apartments are great for someone just starting out. They're gated and have a nice swimming pool and on-site laundry. The people who run the office are so nice and helpful. Couldn't have made a better decision when looking for an affordable apartment complex with everything you need.

The area is quiet clean and the on property staff are A #1! Close to Harrisburg but far enough away so you don't feel like you are in the city. Turnpike is 4 mins away. You can get anywhere fast and easy. Would recommend this community to anyone looking for a townhome for rent.
