Located just six miles south of Wilmington, New Castle is a quiet, unique city in the northern portion of the state. With a small population of just over 5,000, this 3.5 square-mile town is a great place to live, play, and work.
The community is known for its abundance of historical buildings, some dating as far back as the 1600s. The Delaware Historical Society has done a great job of preserving the town's rich history throughout the years, giving residents an environment that radiates timeless charm.
The city’s position along the Delaware River provides excellent views over the water, particularly from New Castle Battery Park.

Property Manager at Sophias Place East, Responded To This Review
Hello Sophia's Place Resident. We can’t thank you enough for taking the time to provide this insight! It is so great to hear we hit the mark with you!
Been here for 4 months, tried to contact the office numerous times and have yet to see any actions taken. Neighbors constantly smoking pot on the parking lot and in there apartment, the smell travels through the wall. We can't stand it
4 mold problems in 5 years (including black mold). At least 5 "leaks" (water pouring from the ceiling) within the past year (lost count of the total amount in the 5yrs that I have been living here). When you report an issue like water pouring from your, ceiling maintenance usually takes at least an hour to show up. Constant "wet basement/mildew" smell because of the mold /mildew within the walls that they refused to acknowledge as a problem. I would not advise anyone to move here. Your health could be at risk because of the mold and with the constant leaks and ceiling cave-ins it is not safe, especially for children. Also, multiple major appliance breakdowns like the refrigerator where I've had to throw out a majority of the food and received no offer to compensate for the loss.
love the area the property is beautiful as well as the apartments themselves. I want to move there more than anything. Its in a great location for all the shops and just minutes away from the hospital. the prices are a little high but very much worth it for what you pay. Last but least, where have you ever seen an apartment complex that has full sized washer and dryers in the actual unit? Barely ever! This place has that and so much more to offer anyone looking for a fun safe and quiet place to call home and raise a family.
Spacious loft, 3bd & 2bathrm. Cathedral ceilings, fire place & patio door to deck from living room. Big closet. Washer/dryer, dish washer. Practically 2 master rooms. Spacious, open and very comfy apartment. Complex also have gym & pool.
The neighbors with a few exceptions are horrid. We've filed complaints with the office and despite being told when we moved in: "if a neighbor causes noise issues, they will get a warning and if it continues they will be evicted." Nothing has gotten better. Children run through the parking lots unattended, and play on cars, the gutters are full of waste from years of neglect. The apartments are advertised as being energy-efficient but the appliances are 20 years old, the windows leak along with the roof, and the electrical work is a nightmare. It takes the A/c in our 1,000 sq ft apartment an hour to lower the temperature one degree. Now that the Galman Group has bought the complex, all of the same issues remain, but they've made it even more expensive to live here. There's now a fee to pay rent by credit card and that's the only way to pay if you can't produce a check (which our bank account doesn't allow for). This is another case of a complex that couldn't care less about the people as long as it's making money. Update 08/03/2015: The incompetence continues. Maintenance is re-shingling the roofs of many apartments. While working on ours, they threw all of the nails, old shingles, old wood, all over our deck, without asking us to bring in our furniture or laying down a tarp. I've been picking up nails from our deck and cleaning off trash for a week after they sent somebody to "clean" it. Furthermore, as they continue to work on the rest of the apartments, they are leaving large roofing and shingle nails all over the parking lot. I've tried talking to the men working, but none of them speak English. Even better, while cleaning my deck and removing nails left behind, one of the workers walked up to the woods behind us, took about two steps in and started urinating out in the open. Totally classy and professional. Finally, while working on the roof, they must have hung off the gutter or something because a panel of our ceiling is now pulling down with a large crack in the ceiling and a drywall nail popping out. On top of all that, we've gotten 4 "48 hour" notices to enter our apartment to change smoke detectors, one of them the day they were supposed to enter the apartment, one in the mail, postmarked the day before (to be fair, I did see a DeLorean parked outside the post office once), and one just recently, so far, nobody has come. Update 8/5/15: Contractors replacing the gutters yet again covered our deck with debris and nails.
My lady and I live in a three bedroom bi-level apartment in New Castle De., the complexe is well run with tennis courts , swimming pool , and an trees saturated nicely thru-out . The rooms are spacious with lots of light from numerous windows ,also all the latest amenities included in rent .
