Property Ratings at South Fork Village
ust moved out of these apartments 2/2020. Though we (wife and infant) only lived here for 6 months, we couldn't have asked for a better experience and location. Where to begin? The staff was amazing. If we ever had an issue the maintenance team was on hand almost immediately and treated us with the utmost respect. That being said we had almost no issues, just an expired smoke detector that kept beeping and had to ask for an additional pesticide spray. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but did utilize the workout center which was pretty light on utilization by other tenants. They have a great package delivery system which allows tenants to pick up packages 24/7. There's a great little shop area in the front that includes District 8, a taproom that has a lot of regulars and multiple food trucks a week including a fantastic Indian truck and Cousin's Maine Lobster. The apartments are right on the South Fork river which has a newly built kayak launch and small pier-like structure. There's also a short greenway right beside the apartment. Across the street from the apartment is Goat Island (which has a large play area, paved walking paths, a disc golf course, and immediate access to downtown Cramerton). One of the thread trails is also right around the corner for a quick hike. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
No dog park as amenities state hasn’t been one in a year and half. Construction noise and mud. Water turn off with in adequate notice have the photos to prove notice given. Numerous complaints with no action. Three years ago this was a great community today I would not recommend Southfork Villages. We are current residents three years now. We are now looking to move.
When searching for an apartment a year ago this place kept being the one place I came back to. I loved the vibe, staff and property location. I am due for my next renewal and I am sure we will be renewing for another 15 months. There’s onsite activities and it’s close to many beautiful waterfront parks in Belmont. We lived elsewhere many times before and never wanted to stay more than our term but this property is truly HOME. And it will be our home until we can buy a house ?? Southwoods newer properties are fabulous. We are the top floor with the vaulted ceiling and sunroom. It’s HUGE. The counters, closets and natural lighting is all the BEST. Very little noises issues considering it is an apartment, valet trash is great because it cuts essentially all pest issues inside the home down. I couldn’t be happier with the choice to live here. Well worth the rent compared to what you pay anywhere else in Charlotte. My biggest and only complaint is that they took our pet park down while the construction is happening.
I have been a resident of South Fork Village since September 2016. Due to fairly consistent relocations for my career, I have lived in several different apartment communities over the past 15 years. I recently closed on a house in the Charlotte/Mecklenburg area and they’re moving out and thought I would leave my impressions for any prospective renters. First, to the point. I can say that I have never had a negative experience during my time as a resident of South Fork Village. The apartments are modern and the amenities are very well-maintained. The clientele/neighbors are all of high-quality. I have never had any noise issues or any other types of issues with my neighbor that necessitated management intervention. Garbage pick up is always on time and the areas around garbage facilities are always clean and uncluttered. With regard to maintenance, the very few times that I have had an issue, it has always been repaired very quickly. Typically, I would report an issue in the morning and it was resolved by the time I returned from work that evening. The staff are friendly and well-informed and when one considers the location and proximity to shopping etc., the prices are more than reasonable. Highly recommended.
Awful management. Very expensive & unwiling to work with the occupants. Over 20 old so most units are not new appliances
These so-called "luxury" apartments are nothing but a headache. First of all my dishwasher has broken three times and each time maintenance comes to "fix it" I just get told to rinse my dishes off. Obviously I know to rinse dishes off before putting them in a dishwasher. In the winter the heat broke and I called maintenance again, they opened the closet door and said "sometimes it does that." My neighbor's air-conditioning was broken and they told her that "these AC's aren't the most powerful and as long as its 20 degrees less than outside temperature it is working." That is not very convenient when it comes August and its 102 degrees and the inside of your place is 82. Also, the ladies that "work" the front desk are lazy and incompetent. They forget to call back, never answer the phones, and "forget" to tell you about additional fees. There is a $7 trash fee that is useless. There is only one dumpster for the entire complex- over 100 families are using the SAME dumpster that does not regularly get emptied. If you think "oh that is not bad I will just put my trash-bag right outside the door," you may want to think again. South Fork charges $25 PER bag left outside your door. There is also a $3 pest fee, another useless fee. Last summer I lived here and hornets nests took over. My roommate called for the pest to be removed and was told it would be removed. Two weeks later it was never removed and I was stung multiple times on my body, 3 separate times just walking outside. This caused me to have to sprint out of my apartment any time I wanted to leave. When I called again and asked for the hornets nest to be taken down I was told that it was "my responsibility" and I needed to "take care of it myself." So what is this $3 pest fee for exactly? Just another useless fee for South Fork Village to make a few extra bucks. ALSO, when I moved in I had to pay $300 just to get my key... even though I already paid to move in. Makes sense, huh?
These apartments are absolutely beautiful! I have lived here for 2 years and I'm not going anywhere any time soon! The office staff is always so nice to me and my husband, and they are always sure to meet all of our needs and requests! They are currently doing a raffle to get $25 or $50 off our rent for April if we can guess how many green M&Ms are in their vase! I find this really neat, we have never lived in an apartment complex were we were treated this nice! Thank you South Fork for all that you do for me and my husband!!!!!!
My fiance and I have lived at South Fork for a year now and it has been the best experience I could have asked for. After living in several (even more expensive) places all around the country, South Fork is by far my favorite. First off, the apartments are new and have great amenities...new appliances, nice pool and fitness center. We had a balcony overlooking the river and it was a great location, close to Charlotte and Gastonia. Whenever we had a problem like when our garbage disposal broke, it was fixed within two days and they even left us a nice note on a bag of popcorn saying they "popped in." The ladies in the office were always so friendly and helpful whenever I stopped by and really helped us feel at home in a new state. Our one bedroom was spacious and a really reasonable price for the area. We are leaving because of my fiance's job and are so sad to go. We absolutely loved living here and will miss it so much.
I was very excited to be moving into this property with my boyfriend. We payed our applications fees and security deposit around 8 weeks before we were set to move. About 5 weeks from my move in date I was called and advised that the tenant that was staying in my apartment would not be leaving and I would be given a new apartment. We happily obliged to this and came in to sign the new agreement. Now I am here 2 weeks from move in and I am called today to be told that the tenant that should be moving decided not to move as soon and my move in date would need to be pushed 2 weeks. At this point I am very upset and cannot wait 2 weeks as me and my boyfriend will be moving out of our current residences. The staff was not very understanding and the manager was outright rude. She informed me that the current tenant was well within his rights to extend the move out date and that I did not have a contract with them that I had just signed a welcome letter. This is despite the fact that this welcome letter had my new address, my monthly rent payment, move in date and other pertinent renter information on it and I was required to sign it and they now have around $400 of my money from deposits and fees. This is the absolute worst experience that I have ever had and my family and friends are horrified that I was treated this way. My advice to anyone looking at this property RUN! The place is beautiful but I have learned they are not to be trusted and are business illiterate.
I am normally the person that lists pro's and con's in reviews but I can't do that with South Fork Village. Simply put, there are no cons. In the 6 months we have been here, we have had nothing but the best experience. After living in multiple apartments with the normal apartment issues, I knew what to expect with apartment living (hearing your neighbors, people who don't care about picking up after the pets, rude staff, etc). Imagine my surprise when those things that I was expecting were not an issue here. I have heard our neighbor a total of 1 time in the time we have been living here. And it was when they were moving in her washer and dryer. The staff is very nice and super helpful. While there is still some people who don't pick up after their dogs, it is considerably less than any other apartment we have lived in. If I had to pick one thing to complain about, it would be the trash compacter, because it has been an issue, but it is something that management is currently actively working to fix. Maintenance is quick to respond to any issues that we have had (water pressure was low when we first moved in and needing to have our battery changed in smoke alarm which was too high to reach due to vaulted ceilings). There is actually a good amount of parking as well which is rare in apartments. We will definitely be renewing our lease when the time comes because we don't plan on leaving this place til we buy.
This apartment is so accommodating. The new finishes in kitchens, black appliances, two way bathroom entrance. It's really a nice size apartment to live in.
Being a single mother if two boys I've had to live in apartments for quite awhile. We have made our apartment our home and it is a nice feeling that if something breaks I can call maintenance to fix it instead of trying to come up with the money myself. I also enjoy not having to do yard work. My apartment is very quiet and the people are friendly.
it's a fantastic apartment and i love it. very nice modern layout.
