With its shady, tree-lined streets and attractive homes on manicured lawns, Temple Hills is a cozy suburb situated about 10 miles southeast of Washington, DC and roughly six miles east of Alexandria, Virginia. Commuters enjoy easy access to the Capital Beltway, Highway 5, and I-295 as well as mass transit -- particularly the Metrorail Green Line -- to travel throughout the region. Temple Hills is close to Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, and the Pentagon. It is also close to the National Harbor along the Potomac River, with attractions that include the Capital Wheel, the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, and Tanger Outlet National Harbor.
Temple Hills is mostly residential, but residents can follow Oxon Hill Road just outside of the community to find a shopping and dining district, complete with a movie theater. More stores, including a grocery store, banks, and hair salons, are located off Brinkley Road.

Property Ratings at South Pointe Apartments
I'm new to the apartment community, however, I know this area of the DMV very well. I hope my review (from a local's perspective) can help others struggling to find an affordable and safe home in the DMV area. I've observed this community over decades, and it has always been quiet and well maintained even when the neighborhood was at it's worst. First off don't judge the book by the cover. SE DC is well on its way to gentrification. This little spot is one of the last places you can get an apartment at a reasonable price. Yes, you give up a little on safety and quiet but what do you expect you are living in a lively city. If you need new everything then maybe vintage buildings are not for you. I grew up in a house built in the 30's and I think of this type of brick walkup style apartments as "Boutique Apartments " Considering that these are 1949 apartments ole girl is holding up well. If you want amenities like a dishwasher or in unit W/D, remember that this place more than makes up for it by having several laundry areas throughout the community, easy access to public transportation and location and savings. Management has done a great job maintaining the buildings and landscaping. Maintenance keeps the buildings and property free from trash. They even tidy up and organize the dumpster when people drop off their trash. This apartment is located less than a mile between 3 metro stations. Naylor Road metro is a 25min walk; Southern Avenue Metro is a 15-20min walk and Congress Heights is a 30 min walk. Not bad if you work in DC. They have a lot of renovated apartments make sure to specify that. They have done a terrific job at restoring my apartment. Stainless steel appliances, Granit and cherry cabinets throughout. Huge windows and new mini blinds. New carpet and nice laminate wood style flooring. (It actually has the same inside that my previous 2021 built apartment had.) So, I felt totally at home from day one. I've seen no dead roaches or evidence of it. I'm a very clean person and I would consider that unacceptable. Staff is nice and I believe if I had an issue, they would be on top of it. As far as safety, be aware that you live directly across from DC and are in PG county so with that in mind don't go exploring the area after dark, mind your business, keep/get off your phone in pocket and head up on a swivel. BUT you should be doing that no matter where you live.
If I could give 0 stars I would ! I’m a first time renter, so I was excited when I found this place. But a week before our move-in day we did a walk-through and the place looks nothing like the pictures. The only thing that was new in the apartment was the carpet. The refrigerator was old & had grease splash all over it and there was a baby roach on top of it . When we looked in the cabinets you could tell there were mice because there were mice droppings. The kitchen is very much small when I saw the oven I thought it was a kid play oven. And the straw that broke the camels back was there was a mold and water damage in the kitchen. We asked her was maintenance gonna come and fix it. She told us that maintenance will come and paint over it. I said so they’re not gonna take the mold out she responded saying I’m not a contractor, so I don’t know. Overall, these apartments are very old and they need some update from the light fixture to the bathroom floor to the carpet. Honestly, the only thing I liked about apartment is that the walls were made of metal so you couldn’t hear your neighbors and your neighbors couldn’t hear you.
I moved here 2020, looked like someone had recently vacated, so it looks like my apartment is stuck in 70's nothing updated, had to patch up a few holes to keep mice out. Never really needed maintenance tho they will paint over stuff and say it's fixed. Overall not a bad place from my perspective
First Problem: The Office Staff, they all need to go. Arrogant, and Rude. Don't pay attention to detail. Second: To many homeless People sleep, and use the bathrooms in the buildings. There are no locks on the doors and anyone can come off the street. All the other Apart- ment Community's have locks and secured facilities. Third: The appliances are very cheap, and the blinds they put in the windows are very cheap and break easy. Fourth: Too much drug activity. Fifth: Curb Appeal. The need better landscaping. There is no grass in the Courtyard area and the buildings are not attractive. The hoods are dirty and need to be cleaned. Sixth: Too much turnover. The property is always being sold, and they have too many empty apartments and a lot of deliquencies.
They are mice infested I don’t caught over 15 mice in my apartment they keep sending the same exterminator that don’t do nothing put down traps
i moved in while i was four months pregnant and the problems started as soon as i moved in. roaches greet you in every inch of your apartment. i had to have them come out and do multiple treatments. my walls leaked due to poor and unserviced water drains on the roof. there were just problems after problems. staff inside of the rental office very rude and sarcastic as if your living conditions are a joke. i have since moved after my lease was over a little over a year ago but after hearing from a current tenants all of these issues have not been addressed. they know their tenants have roaches they even know who’s causing them but won’t do anything unless the tenant calls in for treatment
I’ve been a renting from them since 2012 and this year I’ve finally MOVED OUT !! They don’t fix NOTHING MOLD IN BATHROOMS & MOUSE !!! Always claiming they’ve switch companies and management is a disgrace. You know the saying you get what you pay for so honestly I’m glad I’ve moved. Car broken into 9 times and they are so unhelpful at all.

My apartment complex is to noisy, the walls are peeling in the living room, the kitchen, and bathroom.. no security....the rental office stated that they do not paint apartments until tenants move out...
At the south pointe apartments i feel as through the staff can do better as in their work. When someone first move in they should not have several problem wrong with their apartments. Such as the paint job, the holes behind the refrigerator and oven should be filled in before anyone move in. They should so better work on south pointe apartments.
I love this complex. It has improved very much. I love that all the utilities are free. Would love to move here soon.
This place is so stupid. The maintenance don't fix anything. Its so small. No kitchen space. They don't give you new carpet. They tell you that you have to go to Lowe's and fix things yourself. Its cheap but I guess you get what you pay for.
