Outer North Charleston sits at the center of the city of North Charleston and lies just under 13 miles to the northwest of nearby downtown Charleston. An easy 20-minute drive via Interstate 26 takes residents into downtown Charleston and its multitude of restaurants and bars. The Charleston Air Force Base resides at the center of the outer North Charleston neighborhood, and due to this proximity, many current and former military personnel make the neighborhood their home. Home styles typically range from either mid-1900s ranch styles to between one- and two-story homes built in the 2000s.
Outer North Charleston residents enjoy easy access to international travel via the Charleston International Airport, which is located within the neighborhood. The North Charleston Coliseum, Charleston’s only coliseum and largest performance venue, provides residents with loads of entertainment.

Property Ratings at South Pointe
The apartments are situated nicely in a generally quiet area, decent amenities, pretty spacious units. Trees make the spot look cozy and nice. Domestic situations from time to time bring out the cops. Disputes settled and then it's quiet again. So be aware of that. Does not exactly ruin the experience, though, because it's not everyday. But your experience living here WILL be ruined with ROACHES. I don't care how clean you keep your place, roaches will be there. This place was getting regularly treated (and the issue still not resolved, but better) with pest control services before Covid-19 and two different services were used. After Covid-19 set in, treatments stopped which made the issue much worse. You could only request treatment thru the office and they might as well have been treating with water because the chemicals used didn't do much. Then they started with a new pest control company And their treatment is supposed to last up to 3 months, but less than a week after the treatment saw bugs and now it's a ridiculous amount of roaches everyday. What they need to do is treat outside around the buildings and then treat indoors. This area is INFESTED with roaches. I hate walking into my kitchen because I know I'll see them. I bought a new lining for my door to maybe seal it and keep them out. That didn't work. I keep my place clean and spray bug spray often to act as a barrier to kill or deter them. Not working as much anymore. I will not be here forever and I'm glad. The roaches have RUINED my stay. I used to like it here.
Don’t move here unless you like being friends with German roaches!!!! Can’t wait until my lease is over other than that the neighborhood is decent.
My time actually living here was fine. It's well insulated so I never heard neighbors. The staff was polite while I was there. It wasn't until I moved out that the problems began. Before moving out, I spoke with Laura in the office who said as long as I did a walk through, I should get my security deposit back minus any damages if there were any. If I DIDN'T do a walk through, I would lose a $125 cleaning fee. I did a walk through, the only thing noted by the guy who did my walk through were small charges for a lost key & stove drip pans. A month later I got my security deposit back, $125 was taken out for cleaning. I called to ask why, Denise didn't have an answer for me but let me know she'd find out & give me a call back. After a WEEK of attempting to get in touch with someone and ZERO calls back, I finally spoke with Denise who first said that EVERYONE loses the cleaning fee. I state this was not on my move out walk through & that they owe me this money back. She still says there must be a reason. They call me back later that day & state that they had to have the carpets cleaned.... I HAD ZERO CARPET IN THIS UNIT. None. It was all tile or laminate. At this point I'm well aware they're trying to pull one over on me & find any excuse to keep my money. Denise hands the phone to the gentleman who did my walkthrough. He suddenly remembers I had a dog & that the money was withheld to clean up dog hair (which is false because I cleaned my apartment thoroughly before moving out to ensure there was no hair) but that the receipt from the cleaners does not cite that as an issue. He also lets me know that he had no idea what was going on and was literally handed the phone to "take care of it" as he walked through the door. I finally talk with Laura. She states that everyone loses this $125 cleaning fee, despite the fact that it is not stated upon leaving a deposit, in the lease, or upon move out that this is a standard fee everyone loses. She also states that my $300 nonrefundable pet fee does not cover hair damage (so they just pocket that as well as there was no physical damage done by my pet). She refuses to give me my $125 back & says the next person I need to speak with is the Berkeley County Court office then promptly hangs up on me. It wasn't until I got my lawyer involved that I finally got my money back. If you have lived here & they took this money from you with zero reasonable reason cited: THEY OWE YOU MONEY. If you're considering living here: DON'T.
have lived here for 3 years. Very quiet neighborhood friendly staff close to trident technical college Walmart, Target Mall with in a few miles from outlet stores airport. Great location with easy access to north Charleston, downtown, west Ashley.
