Largely due to its relative isolation from other major metropolitan areas, Sioux Falls has developed thriving local culture with robust shopping, dining, and entertainment scenes, delivering homegrown cultural resources that would be the envy of any city its size. The local rental market offers a diverse range of options -- the historic homes and apartment buildings of the City Center are popular among young professionals seeking to participate in the thriving downtown community, while the quiet suburban environment of the Shindler neighborhood tends to attract folks seeking a tranquil home life. No matter where they live, all residents enjoy the benefits of an exceptionally low crime rate, which sits at roughly half the national average.

Property Ratings at SOUTH POINTE
We have lived at South Pointe for over 2 yrs and have no complaints. I am stunned by one review becuase that has NOT been our experience. Management is very responsive. I have never seen a bug problem any where in the building. Yes, I have seen the police here, but the one problem apartment we had seems to have been dealt with. Any time you get 140 plus apartments, you are going to at times deal with problems. I do NOT hear anything through the walls and the halls are NOT smelly. I would recommend this complex.
I do not recommend these apartments unless you have no other choice. They allow just anyone to live there. I heard police officers chasing our neighbors outside our window quite a few times. Packages always got stolen, and the cameras they have outside don’t actually work. Every time we opened our windows or deck our whole apartment would smell like whatever our neighbors were smoking that day. Walls are very thin, I could hear our neighbors fighting every morning. Hallway always smelled bad and was dirty. There is a big bug problem, you can see them in the hallways and in the units themselves especially the kitchen and bathrooms. Everything is very old and just never felt clean due to things being repaired by covering it up with paint that started to peal off after a few months. A few times that we had concerns and called the office they would either not answer and never return our call or wouldn’t have a clue on how to answer our questions and give us a different number to call. The only nice thing was the indoor pool, which eventually grossed me out from how dirty it was and having to watch groups of young kids come in without adult supervision. We asked to be there for the final inspection and of course they did not contact us for this so about two weeks after move out we received a $30 check back from our $1,500 deposit due to all the random fees and “issues” they found after we moved out. Not worth it!
I still currently live here, sadly. They got rid of a perfectly good manager Anna. And replaced her with a very rude lady from another complex. Also The windows and doors don’t seal good at all every morning I wake up there is ice on my carpet and my inner windows. By noon the ice melts all over my walls and carpet. Security glass doors have been broken into and shattered twice. Cars get broken into a lot here they have “prop” cameras none of the security cameras work so it’s basically a free for all. And now they are about to raise the rent here at south pointe since it’s such a “nice” place to live. I would suggest to keep your options open there is a lot more apartments worth the money. I would stay clear of these apartments. PS don’t comment under this post saying your so sorry to hear about my experience, instead do something about all this rather than typing your response.
Last few years there saw lots of police calls, deck parties, vandalism and even fights. Office staff changes constantly - usually every 3-6 months. Records aren't kept for each turn over. Need to enter your unit constantly: smoke-detector check, annual inspection, semi-annual inspection, inspection 2 months before end of each lease, rayon inspection, furnace filter change, air conditioner check and etc. Depending on the office staff they may, or may not schedule with you. Even if they do schedule, they often miss the appointment. They have shown up a week early, and a week late. If you work nights, they may insist on entering even if you're sleeping. If you don't answer the door quickly, they might come in. They have entered while I'm in the shower. Same with me getting out of bed to answer. A lady with their office staff woke me up at 9am: literally knocking on my door with no appointment. Insisted I needed to open the door for something "important". When I opened she tried to hold my hand and make advances. If your neighbors aren't polite and let their doors slam, it shakes the whole building and sounds like a 15" sub-woofer. They told me they would not charge me for cleaning at move-out inspection, then charged me for it anyway - even in rooms where they repainted and replaced carpet. You might get lucky and get a few months with some good office people, but they never stay long. Horrible leadership at the top. Owned by Hayloft Property Management.
I did a interview and was very impressed with how the regional manager cared for the welfare of her other employees. Also the grounds look to be well cared for. It was evident they care for there clients also.
