Even before Erie was officially founded in 1795, the city’s location made it a desirable destination. The miles of shoreline, the beaches, and the beauty of Lake Erie continues to attract new residents to the city to this day. If you are one of the many moving to Erie, get ready for an adventure. Erie is known for outdoor activities, such as swimming and boating, and is home to the best freshwater beach in the country: Presque Isle State Park. The park features 13 beaches, a marina, and 21 miles of trails. The park also contains the Presque Island Lighthouse, built in 1872, and the extensive Tom Ridge Environmental Center.
Presque Isle State Park also offers year-round activities, from summers spent canoeing, swimming, water-skiing, and hiking to winters where ice skating, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing reign supreme.

Property Ratings at South Shore Apartments
I lived there for 16 years and the only reason I left was because I purchased my own home. Otherwise, I would still be a resident. The office manager, Denise, is outstanding. She handles things quickly and efficiently, she is personable and knowledgeable and I cannot complement her enough on her management skills. The maintenance man, Randy, is equally as impressive. That man can fix anything. In 16 years, I have had a couple issues that needed maintenance and it was handled immediately. Denice and Randy are both very nice to the residents and they are what makes that place exceptional. The grounds are clean and well-kept, it is safe and quiet. I would not hesitate to rent there.
South Shore Apartments has been my home for a little over two years. The one bedroom units are large enough to spread out in and are very reasonably priced. The second and third floor apartments have a small balcony that can easily fit two chairs and a small table - great for enjoying the nice weather. Residents are typically quiet - a good mix of ages, starting to trend towards younger adults who have busy schedules. Maintenance is there to help in a timely manner, but I have never had a problem with my apartment. The sidewalks are well kept during the winter and they have someone plow the parking lot as well which is a huge help on those snowy Erie days. There are also plenty of parking spaces for residents and guests. These apartments are just far enough from downtown (10/15 minutes) and are about 5 minutes from the local Giant Eagle, Panera, Applebee's, Walmart, and fast food chains. It is a great location if you are looking to be close to the city while enjoying the peace and quiet of the Harborcreek area. I would highly recommend these apartments. Give them a call to check for availability because it changes so rapidly - anytime someone has moved out their apartment is filled quickly! In the past the landlord has kept a list of interested tenants.
