Each apartment has a stacked washer/dryer set. Upstairs units share large outdoor decks while downstairs units (flats only) have private patios outside the bedroom. The Highlands/Perkins neighborhood of Baton Rouge is located just south of downtown, nestled into the curves of the Mississippi River. A relatively upscale area, Highlands/Perkins offers a range of mid-rise apartments and single-family homes that showcase the best the Bayou State has to offer. A convenient location just across Interstate 10 from Downtown Baton Rouge means residents will always be close to the action. The neighborhood is also home to Louisiana State University, and there’s a welcome youthful energy courtesy of the campus and its students. There are diverse cuisines to explore including Cajun and Creole foods near the university and just off the interstate. Breweries have sprung up near the river and there are well-maintained parks to explore both near the water and closer to Downtown Baton Rouge.

Property Ratings at Southgate Condos & Southgate 2 Apartments
My son has lived at Southgate 2 Apartments for 2 years now and has loved it. The location can't be beat! It's walking distance to the LSU campus so an easy stroll to classes and athletic events. The property is also well kept and management is great. It's privately owned and Heidi and her team do a fantastic job taking care of residents on a very personal level.
Don't expect a security deposit back no matter how clean the apartment is when you leave. They'll charge $135 for any amount of cleaning, even if it is simply dusting the blinds. They also charge $100 to steam clean the carpeting on the stairs which are no more than 80 sq. ft. Make sure you note any amount of dirtiness when you move in. I left the apartment cleaner than when I moved in and was still charged because I didn't note some things beforehand. I lived there for 5 years and caused no problems or damage in the apartment. They don't do anything for their tenants. The apartments have also become overpriced recently, they will add $20 or more to your rent every time you renew your lease. You can do better than southgate 2.

Strict screening guidelines and excellent facilities upkeep help us promote a comfortable & safe living environment. Prior to moving in, all residents receive a list of everything they need to do for a full security deposit refund, with cleaning charges clearly printed on the list. Upon receipt of vacate notices, residents are again given the cleaning list. Deposits are refunded fully or in part, depending on the condition the apartment is left in. Rental rates are increased as market rates increase, and not at each lease renewal. For value & convenience, Southgate Condos & Southgate 2 Apartments are just the right place to live!
