Property Ratings at Southgate Gardens
I lived here for 3 years and had a renovated apartment. The apartment was beautiful but the roof would leak and they never fixed it. It wasn’t that bad though but it stained the walls. They were quick to fix issues overall. Now that I moved out in July 2023, they are not only trying to keep my deposit they are also trying to say that I owe them rent because according to them I left August 2023 and had not paid rent. I think this is dishonest and a way to make money. They know I relocated and unable to take them to court.
Don’t come here with the expectations of having a pool during the summer. It may stay open for 2-3 weeks. Can’t keep an office manager because the higher ups are idiots. Maint does nothing without reporting them to the city. Instead of fixing issues and making the property look good they spend money on a dog park that’s big enough for one dog. Add trees to the property to keep kids from having a place to play. No updates. Apartments are dated at least 20 years. Apartments flood when it rains. Can’t have anything outdoors. Haven’t cleaned or pressure washed in years. No pine needles put out in years. Absolute waste of money! Stay away!
I moved here in Feb. I have loved it so far and the apartments are actually really spacious.

We love the place. It’s very spacious and neutral colors. The neighbors are very friendly and respectful. The only thing is, it says washer and dryer included and microwave. When we moved in, neither one were included. Also, when we first moved in, we had some issues with the kitchen sink and disposal, but it got fixed very quick.

I moved in the beginning of March and it immediately felt like home. The office manager made everything easy and is very nice. My neighbors are friendly and quiet but they do look out for one another. The rooms are very spacious, no tiny apartment for me! You are minutes from Walmart, Foodlion, Sheetz, Planet Fitness, pretty much any where you want to be in Thomasville. Most importantly is that I feel safe whether I'm in my apartment or in the parking lot.
My boyfriend and I decided to move here after 8 months of being together and this was my first experience being away from home, as nervous as I was, Caroline at the front office was super helpful and made the process easy, and put it all in a way we could understand. We rent the 1 bedroom 1 bathroom and I am IN LOVE with the closet space. It’s like a little room for all my belongings and even my makeup vanity! which i love! Definitely a perfect place for families, or just individuals.
Staying at southgate has been a great experience overall. My wife and I just moved in April 1st 2019. Caroline at the front desk was timely and attentive to our needs! It is the nicest and best priced place we have found in thomasville and it is close to everything! We have truly enjoyed our time at southgate! They also fixed our mailbox lock within day of us calling. We highly recommend southgate gardens as a place to live!
My kids and I have lived in Southgate Gardens for four years and we love it. We have lived in a 3 bedroom and a 2 bedroom. Both layouts are very spacious. It is super close to grocery stores, Wal-Mart, gas stations, restaurants, and I85. The office is always easy to deal with, and are timely with maintenance requests. The neighbors are super friendly and the complex is pet friendly. The property itself is well kept and feels very homely. Its a beautiful safe place for my kids and I to take little walks. We love the games the office does to bring the tenants together. Parking has never been an issue. The pool is perfect for summer months when the kids and I are home during the day.
Southgate Gardens is a wonderful place to stay. I have had nothing but positive experiences since I have moved in. The landlord is so nice and understanding. She does little games with the community for small rewards such as hiding the duck within the apartment complex. When you find it turn it in and you get a cash reward. I’ve meet 2 other families while looking for the duck. Southgate gardens is a wonderful place for a family. I have a 3 bedroom that is very spacious, and when I need something fixed maintenance is always right there trying to fix the problem. I love it here and would recommended it to all family and friends.It is a kid friendly environment.
We have lived at Southgate Gardens for 3 years and have loved it! The area is perfect... a nice, clean, safe environment. Neighbors are quiet and it is pet-friendly. It is close to everything: Walmart, restaurants, Planet Fitness, doctors, dentist, etc. Parking is never a problem and the swimming pool is a wonderful place to relax during the summer months! Management has been very helpful with needs and is prompt to address those needs. Maintenance has also addressed concerns. I would highly recommend Southgate Gardens as your next home!
Great place to live! I've lived here for 10 years. This is home! Close to everything, keep clean, and the grounds are beautiful. The manager is very nice and on top of things.
We have absolutly loved living at Southgate Gardens! We love the small town feel of Thomasville but not too far of a drive to the big city of Greensboro. We feel very safe living here. The neighbors all look out for one another and everyone is very friendly. It’s also pretty quiet here at Southgate Gardens which is really nice. They allow animals which is a huge plus. Shortly before we moved in the complex had TONS of rose bushes planted and they’re all very pretty and makes the place look great, the grounds are pretty well maintained as well. Everyone makes their front door area there own, and I think that helps a lot of people make it feel like home. They also have lots of space for your dogs as well!! The Landlord is very nice and is always in Monday-Friday which is always nice Incase something goes wrong or you have a question she’s here and you can speak with her directly. I would recommend Southgate Gardens to anyone looking to move to Thomasville.
Very happy with Southgate Gardens. I’ve lived here for around 4 months and I love it so far. It’s a very safe and quiet area. Close to everything - Walmart, restaurants, etc. Management is very helpful and attentive. Maintenance has been on top of any problems we’ve had. Parking is great and always spots available. There is a swimming pool, which I’m sure will be great come summer. Application process and moving in was very easy and stress free. I would highly recommend coming to Southgate if you are looking for your next place to call home.
Hello my name is landa and I live at south gate garden apartments and I have a AMAZING landlord i love living here the rose bushes are just beautiful that's what caught my eye before i moved here is the rose bushes they are beautiful so if u want a quiet and relaxing place to live come by and give southgate gardens apartments a try i promise u want be sorry thank u i give the place 5 stars my children love it here and the schools are good too thank u
We've lived here for about 4 months, and have been very pleased with it. The application process was very easy and fair, unlike many other places. Management is amazing and always a pleasure to deal with. We've only had a couple of minor maintenance issues, but maintenance was very fast and efficient in fixing the problems. The neighborhood and community is very safe, so it's a great place if you have kids. It's also very peaceful. There is also a pool (we moved in January, so haven't used it yet, but it looks great!). The management office provides a great selection of DVD's that tenants can check out for free and keep for 3 days. It's close to everything in Thomasville - Walmart is a 2 minute drive, restaurants galore, banks, etc. Everything is literally a 5-10 minute drive away. Searching for a new house or apartment is stressful, so if I were you, I'd stop searching and come to Southgate!!
Maintenance sucks.. he's rude and its takes forever for them to fix the simplest of things. There's things I've needed fixed for over 6 months and still nothing has been done, and I've repeatedly requested for these things to be fixed. On another note, the last bad storm that came through, caused tree limbs to fall, and they are still laying in the parking lot.. almost a month later. Not a good place to live, for the outrageous price nor trouble with how they are going about maintaining this place.
