For all intents and purposes, Kansas City, KS is very much part of the Kansas City, MO community. In some parts of town, you can cross the state line without even knowing it. As a result of this closeness, the two Kansas Cities share many cultural resources: NFL and MLB games, Crossroads Arts District, the American Jazz Museum, and the National WWI Museum and Memorial are all located in Missouri but easily accessible from across the border.
So what’s the benefit of renting an apartment on the Kansas side of the state line? Closer access to a more relaxed, rural lifestyle. On the west end of town, Kansas Speedway hosts NASCAR Sprint Cup races, and the Major League Soccer franchise Sporting Kansas City plays its home games at Children’s Mercy Park (in fact, Kansas City bills itself as the Soccer Capital of America). Minnesota Avenue downtown is known as the “Avenue of Murals,” thanks to the large works of art decorating many of the buildings along this road.

Property Ratings at Southridge
Don't live here unless you want filthy neighbors who will give you bugs and in turn the management will do nothing about it. We have had bugs the entirety of our lease and have made countless trips to speak with management about the issues we are facing. They constantly fall flat on all of their promises to try and get it resolved and have done the bare minimum leaving us in a disgusting living space. We have worked with now the SECOND management company running this place who has brought no further help at all. They don't even clean out the space well before you move in due to their lazy workers. This has been the worst renting experience I have ever faced. DO NOT RENT HERE!!!!!
If I could give this place Zero Stars I would. Trust me when I say run, this place is hell on earth. Management is rude, and will laugh in your face if you have questions, they are greedy and will add fees to your rent without notifying you first, and getting any maintenance done is gonna take your whole lease. When we moved in are apartment was still a mess from the person before us and they didn’t even offer to clean it before we moved in.

Hello, we're sorry to hear that your experience was not what you were hoping for. Please reach out to our office and we can look at any fees you think may be mistaken and also get your maintenance concerns addressed.
If you ever come to a property and they tell you No Applications Fee, run. I believed them back in March, it is now September and I still never got my $50.00 refund when the old Management Company knew they were supposed to refund it. Guess the new company didn’t care.

If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. Trust all of the negative reviews you see. I signed a year lease here and only lasted 2 months before I was fed up and paid the fee to break my lease. THE COCKROACHES ARE RIDICULOUS. They are EVERYWHERE, and when I contacted maintenance to ask for my unit sprayed, they said they can only spray twice a year and instead put down 1 sticky trap in the kitchen. Less than 12 hours later, the sticky track had no room left on it because it was already full. I went out and bought bug bombs myself since the management is incompetent, bug bombed twice to kill any eggs, packed up all my belongings and lived out of plastic containers in the living room until I could afford to break the lease. The building always reeked of weed and sewage, the walls are paper thin so you can hear your neighbor beating their wife and their kids screaming, but when you let management know, they tell you its "none of their business"... (ended up calling the cops myself). As if the roaches, spiders, screaming neighbors, and awful smells wasn't enough, when I first moved in, my cat kept messing with the bathroom cupboard. I eventually laid down and looked underneath, there was a DEAD CROW. I called maintenance and they came and got it the next day, and said it was probably the previous owners pet. Mind you, I'd lived there for about a week, so for it to be the previous owners pet, that means when they "cleaned" the apartment between tenants, they failed to miss the DEAD BIRD. That was the first straw, and the last being that management refused to do anything about the roaches. For the last month I was there, every time I killed a cockroach, I left the dead bug where it was and kept a tally on the fridge. Left it that way when I moved out too, I hope you guys enjoyed cleaning the 207 cockroach bodies :) If you can live literally ANYWHERE else, do exactly that. Also, directly to Southridge management, don't bother responding to the review about how you guys are disappointed to hear about my negative experience. Instead of apologizing for your flaws, FIX THEM.

I have lived here about a year, and can say this was one of the worst apartment complexes I have ever lived in. I thought all the reviews were being dramatic, but my AC never got fixed after 10+ service requests, garbage disposal broke constantly, the walls are painted dark grey, so it feels so depressing. My move in date got moved back 8 times, leaving me homeless for 5 days because my other lease ended. There are constantly homeless people in the parking lot, gym/laundry room do not work, pools aren’t open and my packages constantly get stolen. Please don’t move here for your own good, trust me on this one.

I have lived at Southridge for about 3 years. This complex has been through more property managers than seasons its experienced. I once had a property manager more concerned about taco party than my apartment flooding. The "upgrades" done to the apartments, don't repair the pipes, I have experienced five different floodings during my time; three of which has fully flooded my floor. Two floodings happening in the walls of an apartment building that was "new". One scenario, emergency maintenance would not respond while the second floor bathroom was flooding which was flooding the bathroom below. After not being able to contact maintenance, we called the fire department to break the door down to shut down the water. THEN maintenance showed up and blamed us for "not calling him first". Enjoy house centipedes in the buildings. Being purchased under new management, lawn care has decreased. Some areas between buildings are just muddy. You are unable to use the sidewalk during rain. Get use to the sound of barking dogs (oh and a neighbor at a house nearby has a rooster occasionally, take a guess how I know). My vehicle was damaged early July, and was told it would take a week or so to hear back from the "third party security company". I have yet to hear back as we enter mid August. Packages have been stolen from my door 3+ times. So be sure you plan on being home the day before, day of, and day after a package is expected because it will get taken from your door in hours. No matter if you document in the shipping to leave at the main office. Maintenance has entered my apartment without notifying me 24 hours, with the main office unaware. The only positives are the occasional nice to work with manager (while they last) and the area of Roeland Park.
After living here for two months, my bathroom ceiling started leaking and it took them till March of 2020 to fix. We moved in June of 2019. The maintenance came to look at it and say they would be back, but never returned. The ceiling leaking caused damage to our bathroom door to the point where it was falling off. Also, it caused black mold to the door and the wall of the bathroom. We had take the door off because it wouldn’t shut and put up a shower curtain in place of it. We currently still have mold. We have talk to the people in the leasing office, but they never know anything. They give that generic smile and act as if they are concern, but they really don’t care. They make you feel like you’re crazy. The sink in the bathroom keeps clogging and the dishwasher never worked in our apartment. They have rodents. Laundry has been unavailable since we have been there. We have go to the laundry mat in Mission to wash our clothes. We had to put our own light bulbs in. The ceiling in our bedroom looks like it was leaking before we got there. You can the spots on the door of closet, bathrooms, and shower. I would recommend never living here because these apts are the worst I lived at. They just want your money. One of their worker said that they didn’t have the money for a new door. If I could give them no stars, I would. The parking is bad because sometimes we have to park around the corner from our apartment instead in front.

My roommate and I have been living here for 8 months. I honestly don’t even know where to begin. We have mice and roaches, both of which we’ve asked management for help with to no avail. The shower water temperature constantly changes from whatever you have it set at to freezing cold to seriously scalding hot and after several fruitless maintenance requests and discussions with neighbors, seems to just be part of the lovely experience of living in this dump. They constantly shut water and electricity off in our building for 30+ minutes at a time with no notice except a text saying they’ve already done it. Maintenance requests are marked as complete with no one even entering the apartment (between my roommate and I, one of us is almost always home). We got no heads up regarding major construction that took months that made us take a detour through a neighborhood to get to a back entrance to the complex to even be able to get to our apartment. On the note of the construction, it started every day anywhere from 6-7 am making getting sleep impossible. Also, someone’s car alarm goes off nearly nightly for hours at a time and requests to management for help go unanswered. The laundry facilities are DISGUSTING, half the washing machines sit full of water at all times, and you’ll be lucky to get a single load done for less than $8 with all the times through the drier it takes to actually dry your clothes. One of the two pools was closed all summer and the tennis court and playground are unusable, overgrown monstrosities. Our shower was broken for over 5 days and only got fixed after we went and got a leasing agent to call the maintenance workers directly and it took 4 calls to get someone to agree to even look at it. Things constantly break and my roommate and I dread even putting in a maintenance request we know will never get any attention. My car got towed despite having an in date registration and I nearly had to pay the $275 fee in addition to Ubering to downtown Overland Park to get my car back. If you’re already a resident and call the office because you’ll be sent to voicemail and never get a call back. The only redeeming point that makes me okay giving the place one star is that the leasing agents are at least apologetic and try to be helpful if you talk to them. Other than that though, avoid this place if you can it’s a disaster. The only thing getting me through the remainder of our lease is looking at all the other places I can move as soon as it’s up.

Let me say I love living here! Thanks to Halie I get to continue to enjoy my home. She has been nothing but a BIG help with EVERYTHING! Apparments dropped the ball but did everything in their power to make it right. Thanks guys
It’s all up to the tenants to turn in other tenants for doing something wrong. Problem with this is you might get shot or your car messed up. There is a gang of kids that do damage. I said something and my car was keyed. Office Manager is rude. You tell the Office about a problem and nothing gets done until you contact the owners. Sure they have cameras all over but they won’t look at them unless you have a police report. People do not clean up after their dogs and half of them are not leashed. Office Staff and Maintenance needs to get out and look at the buildings so they can see the issues. When Worchester first bought the complex they where doing great things to clean it up. Now things are only half done. Most buildings got new A/C & Heaters the others are still using units that are 20 years old. I am an unhappy resident.
I was attracted to these apartments because of the two pools. Sadly only one pool was open this summer. It was the small pool which was ALWAYS over crowed with kids. The bigger pool was never filled with water. That was disappointing. Also the moved the washer and dryer out of our unit so now we have to carry all of our clothes all the way to another building. That was not the brightest idea. I keep my apartment clean and have already seen two mice. I stay on the first floor. The people above me stomp so hard. I cant sleep. There is not much crime which is always a plus and the location is very convenient. Just a few things they should work on to make this place 5 stars !
This is one of the few places that allows leases of less than a year. That's what led me here, and I am very grateful for that, but I really wish I had another choice. The office has been less than helpful with most things. They said that there is laundry in every building. The washer in my building has been out since I moved in a few months ago with no signs of getting fixed. The first day I moved in, the laundry room flooded and completely soaked my apartment. Maintenance did nothing besides stop the leak. My carpet was a swamp for days. I had issues with my air conditioning as well. I called maintenance/the front office nine times over two weeks, and it still didn't get fixed. When maintenance does finally come out, though, they are very helpful. Also the apartments themselves are not the best I've lived in. I can hear ever footstep the neighbors above me make, and people are often smoking marijuana in the hallway of my apartment, which makes my apartment smell not how I'd like. If you have any other options, I really suggest you look into them.
Well, what can I say? Words can't describe the utopia I feel about this place. The property management must be doing something right! It's a vacation everyday when I come home. The neighbors are friendly. The prices are incredible and the covered parking is a must. I can't wait until the pool is open. It's going to make this place feel like a resort.
we live here currently. most of what they have posted as amenities are false. we've been here a year and the pools were only open 2 months, the "playground" is an unkempt swing set. the tennis court is cracked end weeds growing over. the fitness center took a year to open and was never announced to residents that it opened. the management is awful and can't answer the phone. it's taken them a year to fix a hole in my ceiling and every problem you bring to them they tell you to wait and dismiss the request or just don't answer at all. do whatever you can to stay away from here. 0/10
New management working on improving the buildings and grounds. Good move in specials. Close to highway 35 so makes a easy commute. Not far from the plaza and Westport. Check it out 913-262-1166 Say jimmy Blanch reffered you
The apartment complex is okay. They are gonna start trying to make approovements
They are cute apartments but they had needed some repairs. Everything is getting fixed though from the new maintenance team! I'm 10 minutes away from pretty much everything! Work, downtown and shopping! I really enjoy my one bedroom apartment!
