Property Ratings at Spire San Diego
I lived here for 18 months and found more than 30 issues. Each of them would be enough to have a count down for my lease to end. The biggest issue with this place is that it seems the place, facility, staffs etc. were designed for a much smaller community. Maybe for 100 units instead of 900. Here I will only talk about two main deal breaker issues: 1. The parking: The parking has 2 gates. More than 95% of the times the gates were broken. The parking had no security camera and there was barely any security guard there. Besides, East village is one of the sketchiest neighborhoods in SD. All these make the massive 5 level parking the heaven of thieves and hobos. I was lucky that only my bike got stolen in the parking. I witnessed over 20 robberies, especially from storage units. I asked many times why at least they don't add camera to the parking and as usual they did not care. 2. Elevators: In my 18 months of residency, I think there were less than 10 days that all elevators worked. There were 4 elevators, usually one or two of them broken and one reserved for move. So there was only one or two elevators for 50 levels. On average it took me 10-15 minutes to catch the elevator. Many times it took much longer. One time I missed my flight because of the elevator. Also because of poor parking design, you should add another 5-7 minutes of drive from your car to street. So on average I should have included an extra 20-25 minutes to all my drives. And this was for the times that I was lucky! Because they are significantly understaff, you barely will receive reasonable responses from the staffs. The best that you can get is: "talk to the management". And the management never respond. I would say this place is only suitable for people who are extremely obsessed with the view. Other than that I don't see any value. And you should keep in mind that only around 30% of the units have good view. You should do your own research and pick the units with good location. In most cases they do not show you the actual unit, so it can be misleading. Also, in my 18 month of residency, they never cleaned the windows. So your nice view is going to be compromised with the filthy window. The only positive experience that I had was during the move out process. The procedure was surprisingly smooth and relatively fair.
This place is awful, don’t let the makeup on the pig fool you it’s still a pig. The management team is terrible. They took away the elevator for the floors up to the fifth floor. You can never get ahold of management if you have a question or concern. If an appliance breaks good luck you won’t be getting it fixed. Actually anything in general will not be fixed. I moved in and my found my window was broken and wouldn’t close, 4 months later it’s still broken and won’t close.
Broadway Towers is run by Spire. They will swipe your card and take the hold out for an apartment, but they won’t return it to your card if your not approved or denied. THEY mail it in like a month. It’s been 4 months now and no check. accounting department at spire insisted they mailed the check (regular mail) and because i never received it. Not their fault. So they want to charge me $35 to stop payment on a check i doubt they ever mailed. Spire tell people who put deposits down, they will be mailed ou, MAYBE in a few months and if you don’t get the check, they will be charged to issue a new one. ANY place who does business like this is not worth moving into. Imagine they can’t figure out how to return money to your card. ONLy take it. Spire needs the $250 this bad, SO cheap.
First off, our apartment was gorgeous and the views are spectacular. However, the appliances break easily and are poorly installed. Management is unresponsive at best, and denies you access to amenities or spends over half of your security deposit to "paint the bathroom ceilings" at their worst. While CA had difficult restrictions for everyone, Pinnacle International really went out of their way to make sure home felt as much like jail as possible. Despite employing a small army of security guards, they still did not manage to stop any of the three robberies we were victims of. Please do not live here. They do not care about you as soon as you sign your lease.
The leasing agents and door people are great, but the management is awful, especially Chad, who rudely walked away from me when I bought him trash from inside the pool today. The parking levels are dirty and unsafe. The police is onsite regularly. I have opened service requests and nobody has showed up or contacted me to get them resolved. Mask wearing is not enforced, not even in the elevators. The pool is always filthy, I'm not sure it's safe to swim in it.
My wife and I moved in a year ago when the building was brand new and since then our experience has been great, staff is accessible and super friendly! There's 24 hours of security and concierge to make your experience even better. Now the views you get! Nothing can beat the view from Spire looking towards harbor drive and coronado bridge! The city of SD is all under you to watch its beauty at every hour that changes! Sunsets are breathtaking and I would def recommend people to move in here
