Property Ratings at Spring Garden Apartments
Since new property owners in September 2022 renewal leases have increased over 10% yearly. The maintenance response time is horrible. And customer service is rude and inappropriate. Looking to move out asap.
This company bought the building I rent in. As soon as my lease was up, they raised the rent 11.5%. The started to re-do the empty units that people moved out of due to the rent increase. The new units are almost double what the old residents were paying. Why such a high increase, in my opinion the increase is to offset the financial cost to do the upgrades. We not only lost amenities such as a gym and a pool. To now have to pay an unconscionable rent increase is affecting the 85% of the buildings elderly and disabled people who are on Fixed incomes. These tenets have been in the building well over 20 years. Rent increases we are used to was 5%. They have done this with many rental properties all over New Jersey. They come in and out of my unit with no notice and no maintenance tickets being left on my door. I know they are coming in because I had to purchase a security camera. They moved my motorcycle so they could cut down a tree in the parking lot with no notice. They came into my apartment and pulled my couch out into the middle of the room and left it there. They have disconnected our doorbells; our washers and dryers are not in our units and we pay to use them. So, they now charge a $25 water fee that is not written in our lease anywhere. The washers and dryers are constantly "waiting on parts". They only do upkeep (landscape) to the front of the building, leaving the tenants with a dirty unkept parking lot that is embarrassing to look at and come home to. I look out of my bedroom and only see dirt, leaves, rocks, trash, dumpsters, and buckets of tar from patching the lot. The parking lots patches only go to half of the lot because they ran out of tar. Request for new rugs after living there 7 years was denied. The reason for the denial I quote, we do not replace flooring in occupied units. So, must I vacate and move back in order for the unit to be "unoccupied"? Don't deal with this company if you want to keep your sanity because they will duck you and give your made-up rules for them to deny request. Terrible to its tenants. No compassion whatso ever.
The apartments are very nice and very maintained. Outside is kept somewhat cleaned but could be cleaner if the residents would help by respecting the earth and throwing it in the proper place. Over all it would be a nice place for myself and family if it wasn't out of my price range.
