Richlands is a small, rural community in eastern North Carolina, roughly fifteen miles from Jacksonville. Historically an agrarian community surrounded by farmlands, Richlands has developed a more suburban atmosphere: quiet neighborhood streets lined with charming homes now fill most of the town’s landscape, and many folks who work in Jacksonville (including Marine Corps Air Station New River) choose to live in Richlands and commute.
