I'm reading the other reviews and I am very confused. This review I am going to leave is going to sound like I am exaggerating, or even straight up lying. This was the absolute worst living experience I have ever experience in my life. To begin with, if you want to live here make sure to expect to never have internet a majority of the time you stay here. I complained (and my roommates) to the office over 10 times about the issue. Almost every time they literally told me to call the internet company and figure it out myself. When the internet company arrived they were confused as to why Spyglass made me call instead of them. The internet still didnt work. The Spyglass employee that came to our apartment to look at the internet a week before the lease was over was dumbfounded. He told me the office had no idea the internet was this terrible and that the manager, Lauren, did not even believe the entire year. The internet was SO TERRIBLE my roommate, who works online, had to move out because his employer said the internet he had was too bad. In addition to the absolutely horrible internet, there were numerous very large cockroaches in our apartment throughout the year. I literally woke up with one on my hand one night. At the end of the lease, when we ever ecstatic to get out of this hellhole, Spyglass decided to charge all 3 of us a total of over $900 for ruined carpets and walls that needed to be painted. Here's the twist: the carpets had NO damage anywhere on them and we had painted the walls ourselves before we left. NEVER LIVE HERE IF YOU EXPECT TO LIVE IN A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT THAT PROVIDES INTERNET THAT WORKS. DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU NEED INTERNET AT ALL. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE OTHER REVIEWS DO NOT MENTION THIS!!! thanks for listening to my ted talks

Dear former resident, Thank you for your feedback, as we use comments such as this to improve our processes. Regarding internet connectivity, Lauren and her team are aware of the issues you mentioned and have been in constant communication with Cox Cable to improve service for our residents. Thank you again and we truly wish you the best in your new home.
Terrible place, never had I gotten roaches so much in an appartment. I called over 5 times and got smerky remarks like I was lying but I was just asking for a bug exterminator! At least 10 roaches everytime it would rain would somehow get in through the cracks and rotted wood that I also asked to get replaced. Not to mention roaches get into your food and it completly ruins my comfort. Not only this but black mold started growing above our door which is a serious health hazard and the maintance guy just wiped it off with a cloth and didnt do anything else and it grew back again! Terrible gross experience, made me feel like I was in a trailer!

I'm a freshman student, I've been living in Spyglass for almost 7 months now and this is what I can tell you: At least my apartment was renovated the summer before I moved in (stove, fridge, etc.), so I was lucky. My apartment looked EXACTLY like the model, same size, same rooms. Of course, the doors are scratched, my bathroom door doesn't close, the air conditioner was dirty, the washer is old... well, you know, it's not perfect. But they are very diligent with maintenance requests! I have to give them that. They cleaned our A/C and have come before to fix other stuff. They clean the outdoors every Friday and the property always looks nice. Roommate matching for me was great, my roommates happen to be very respectful and we always help each other clean. I have to walk all the way across the apt. complex to throw out trash, but it's not the worst thing ever. The fitness room is decent even though it's small. The pool is nice and also the hot tub. The bad stuff: I would like for them to make more activities to meet other people because they do, well...none. I would like the gym to have more stuff or to be bigger. They charge us extra every month for utilities. The first two months (which is when we were cooking the most, almost always in the apartment, using the A/C the most, etc) they didn't charge us and then suddenly they started charging us extra-money which doesn't make sense because now I'm almost never in the apt.,plus, we try to save electricity and water. Overall: l've liked living in Spyglass. It's not perfect, sometimes it's too quiet, sometimes something brakes, sometimes your downstairs neighbor tries to burn your building but... it always looks good, it's clean, it's the safest place around, it has spacious rooms, it's close to the mall and some supermarkets, every apartment has its own W&D, it's easy to take the bus from here, everyone has a private bathroom, it's pet friendly, etc. I would recommend it.

When I first started looking at Spyglass, it was myself, my freshman year roommate, and my partner. By the time we signed on for a lease, there'd been multiple different times I'd looked at the model--it was gorgeous, it was furnished, it was organised well, and it looked brand new. If you've seen the model, it's gorgeous and has been recently renovated. I hope you're not too attached to the model. We moved into our apartment to overspray on most surfaces, there was a dent in the bathroom door, one of the lights was melting through the plastic, there was food caked all over the inside of the dishwasher, the TV was broken, the side of the banister was cracked, the AC was an analog system when were told it'd be an electronic, and the carpet was ripped in places. It was a letdown from what we originally signed on for. When we talked to the woman in charge, she was incredibly condescending and very rude to us. She assured us that this was exactly what she showed to us, just an older model--older, as in the fact that it hasn't been changed much since the 80s, unlike the model. In the time we've been there, we've also encountered two leaky faucets, carpet that stains at the simple touch of shoes or feet on the floor, walls so thin that I can hear literally every single word of the screamed argument from the people next-door to us. And whenever we've dealt with the property manager, she's been exceptionally rude. The place has poor organisation and move-in day was a disaster from the lack of knowing how to handle things, the handing out of keys that was just this vague line, they didn't have people with their paperwork and lot paperwork for others and just no one knew what they were doing--I can't imagine the nightmare that checking out is going to be. In addition, I've heard from a lot of former residents that they charge you an arm and a leg for everything. I know we're not getting our security deposit back and there's a good chance they're going to charge us for everything else, too. And, of course, they just hiked the rates on us when this apartment is hardly worth what we're currently paying now. In addition, we've never missed a payment, so there's no reason why they should hike it as far as they did--inflation didn't even raise enough to justify that. All in all, I would not recommend this place. There are better places that are cheaper and have nicer staff. If you're looking for a place in Gainesville to rent, don't pick Spyglass.
The model was lovely--I would know, I spent several times looking at it when I was playing dosiedoe with different roommates. But getting to the apartment was a bit of a problem. One of the lights was melting through the plastic, the TV was broken, the dishwasher had food in it, and there was overspray everywhere. But the maintenance people were very happy to help fix everything that same day. It's well-located to the mall and the drive to Archer isn't bad, either. There's the 20 right outside the complex which is really useful and runs frequently. I would recommend this place, but be ready for a few inconveniences.
Lived at Spyglass for a year and the one thing no one can argue against is that the customer service is exceptional. The only thing I didn't like is the appliances. It feels like everything is from the 1990s. But you'll never have to worry about problems because the maintenance service is superb. Within the next business day you can expect to at least hear from the maintenance crew if not have the problem solved. I wish they would update the appliances and save me some on utilities. The pet friendly and quiet neighborhood is ideal for a great study environment. Proximity to the University campus is not great but buses are consistent. If you are looking for a comfortable and quiet place and dont mind the commute then Spyglass is a great place.
I've lived at Spyglass for two years and it was a great apartment to start off apartment living in. Even though I was in a 3/3, I enjoyed my own bathroom and large walk-in closet, as well as a washer and dryer in the apartment. The staff was always helpful and I never had issues with maintenance.
Great location in a beautiful gated community. Easy drive or take the bus to colleges.
