Property Ratings at Square One Apartments
Good luck renting an actual apartment! We applied, submitted all of the paperwork and waited. Called several times to get status updates and none was ever available. Application is handled by a third party, who apparently doesn't give the apartment office any information either. We were told the process would take 5-7 days. It has been a month now, and we still have no answer. In addition, we were told in our first call (the day after we applied) that there were no apartments available, although several still show as available on the website. THEN, we just received a bill for charges due at move-out. WE NEVER MOVED IN!! Shady, shady, shady. They're happy to collect your non-refundable application fee, knowing full well that they have no actual apartment to put you into when you apply. Two stars for affordability compared to other apartments near Southern university, and the office staff who were very kind and did try to help. There are far nicer apartments for the same price a few miles away, and you can qualify same-day with half of the fuss!
I like it here at Hooper Pointe- the size of the apartments are great and the staff is very helpful and are making the property better and better. They said lots of great changes coming to make the property even better and I'm excited to see it all happen. Five stars
The apartments are getting better. Improvements are being made and I can tell the new management cares about us. im excited to see what they do and new stuff their adding. My children love the playground and have friends here from school.
The staff was very welcoming, answered all question I had with attentiveness, clarity and patience. It's one thing to have great place to stay but its another when you have a staff that stands with integrity at your side.
I recently moved to Baton Rouge and was told about Hooper Pointe by a friend. From day one the staff has been incredibly helpful and attentive. They feel more like family. I love my apartment and the space I get for an affordable price!
This place is a nightmare. I lived here from Sept 2016 to Dec 2016. I was released from my lease due to it failing Housing Authority inspection 3 times! The carpets smell like a dirty nursing home, there was mold in the apartment they would do nothing about, They give contract cleaners the keys to your apartment and tell them no one lives in the apartment that they can just go right in, maintenance doesn't exist, and I am still trying to get my deposit back from the so called management. As other reviewers said pest control is a joke roaches and rats run rampant. The garbage dumpsters were always full and there was always piles of garbage around the dumpster. The pool was always closed and the water was always green and slimy. As for wheelchair accessible...just barely would my small one fit through the doors of any room in the apartment and forget about going into the kitchen and turning around in a wheelchair. You can't even open the oven door or fridge door if you are in a wheelchair. A/C and heaters hardly work mine broke the first day it got below 50 degrees and I spent the final week I was there without any heat even after maintenance came to look at it. The photos of this place are from right after it was built and don't show the dumpsters or the trash compactor overflowing with weeks of garbage or how there was always trash on the tiny playground. I never saw the picnic area or grills the supposedly have and was actually told I couldn't even grill near my apartment by management on my own grill. People speed through the parking lots like they are out on the interstates without a care for the kids that are running around. And the young kids run wild with no supervision, knocking on peoples doors, riding mini gas motorbikes across the grass in all the common areas. The loud music every night even as late as 3 am and complaining to management gets you nothing but excuses. The security gate is also a joke as I never once saw it closed and police were in the parking lot almost daily. Oh and lets not forget the mass eviction notices EVERYONE gets every couple of weeks even if you pay your rent on time because management is too lazy to actually only print out notices to the people who actually didn't pay their rent!!! Save yourself the stress of dealing with this place and find a different place to rent!
Management changes often! The grounds are unkept and breeze ways always have trash and leaves. Pest control is a joke! My apartment has roaches, from the neighbors unit. I was told that Orkin would spray, they came out to spray and the roaches got worse. I had to do my own pest control. Maintenance does a poor job with keeping the grounds! There's a high turn around with employees, you never see the same faces. I would not recommend these apartments to anyone! Don't let the photos fool you! Take it from a dissatisfied former tenant!
This place is borderline horrible because the floors creek every other step you make and the walls are so thin until where you can hear every conversation your neighbors are having and even the music they play when u are trying to sleep!!!
