Property Ratings at Stark Crossing Houses
My husband and I were optimistic when we moved in, but we were repeatedly displeased by how we were treated by the staff and management. In part, we moved to Crossgates because I am autistic and have a sensitivity to sounds, so I was not interested in living in a complex that catered to college students. Crossgates is advertised as a family-friendly complex with strict noise restrictions. The staff was aware of my disability and was seemingly sympathetic to my situation. During our first 6 months of living in the complex, I had made complaints to the front office about people playing loud booming music in the parking lot, without response or action. One day I noticed that one of the booming vehicles was the office employee whom I had contacted about my complaints. After 1 year of living at Crossgates, we received new downstairs neighbors, each of whom had loud sports cars. Their push to start engines literally rattled windows. After some time we had reason to believe these same neighbors were drug dealers, and we began to feel unsafe. After reaching out to the office multiple times about our neighbor's behavior, they explained to us that they also suspected they were drug dealers. They also stated that they did not intend to proceed with any action and that we, the tenants, were responsible for providing enough evidence for eviction. This process took months and all the while, we were concerned for our safety. Finally, a couple of months prior to moving out, I had a conversation with the assistant manager where she explained, that due to the nature of our notice to vacate, we were not responsible for paying the last week of our lease. When it came time to pay last month's rent, they failed to honor that agreement and demanded the full payment. They claimed that since they did not document the conversation, it never happened. This unnecessary false promise was the nail in the coffin. These are only among the headaches we had to deal with. Additionally, speaking with other residents, they had other managment related complaints.

We are upset to see that you had a negative experience as that is something we were not aware of prior to reading this review. Providing the best customer service and a prompt response is something we strive for and hate to see that we were unable to meet your expectations. Please contact us at (662) 268-4950 so that we may have an opportunity to address your concerns. Thank you.
We lived at this complex for 2 yrs. Our experience was great UNTIL THE MANAGEMENT CHANGED. Harsh emails often sent to tenants threatening fines for various behavior (instead of addressing tenants directly. Garbage cans for dog waste are always overflowing. Maintenance issues are only ever patched, never fixed. The actual issue is repetitive and never solved. The construction work is never cleaned up and the areas are covered in garbage from fast food over the past year that they have been renovating. In addition we frequently had to have our tires patched (3 times) over the past year because of the parking lot. If you email or call the staff, they are very unlikely to respond at all. When you do have a conversation with them face to face, they will only say what you would like to hear. Do not believe any of them at their word, and if you have a conversation with them, be sure to record it. Any commitments they make, be sure to have them write it down (possibly notarized). They only see you as an opportunity for financial gain and not a person searching for a home.

Trisha, we appreciate your feedback and hate to see that you had a negative experience. We must receive a written 60 notice from all residents that move out as mentioned in the contract. Due to Fair Housing Guidelines, we are not able to make exceptions on this. We hate to see that there was a misunderstanding and/or miscommunication. Please give us a call at (833) 229-5229 so we can work with you further.
I moved out in the beginning of January 2018 after 1 year. Crossgates Apartments orally informed me that I will receive a full deposit back. I never got any until now (mid Sept. 2018). My wife and I went to talk to the management staff multiple times. They always promised that the issue will be solved and we will be contacted! WE NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK. I even contacted Heritage Properties (which manages Crossgates) to solve the issue. They promised that the problem will be fixed and I will get the deposit back. I NEVER GOT ANYTHING BACK... I will wait for another month and start taking legal actions if there is any... Anyways..... I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT SUGGEST THIS APARTMENT TO ANYBODY.
