Legendary Americans from Frederick Douglass to Woodrow Wilson have called Dupont Circle home at various points over the past two centuries, and it continues to be a highly desirable place to live. The historic architecture of the neighborhood (particularly in the Victorian-era rowhouses) contributes to a distinctly European flair in much of Dupont Circle. This, combined with the presence of numerous foreign embassies and countless international restaurants, creates an unparalleled cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The dining scene also includes a vast selection of more traditional eateries, low-key coffee shops, and convenient grocery stores, giving most folks the option to pick up a quick bite to eat or a week’s worth of necessities with ease. For off hours, museums and galleries are close at hand, and the eclectic nightlife offerings span from alternative rock venues to glitzy clubs to high-end cocktail bars.

Property Ratings at State House Apartments
Management does a great job. Maintenance is always responsive.
When you sign up for this apartment, you get the essentials. Ideal Location. Amazing Staff. Low Cost. You'll get no frills (with the exception of a great rooftop view), but apartment is perfect for those getting their start in DC and who don't need fancy gyms or appliances. Every time I've had an issue (3 times in 2 years) I've reached out to management and I've had my issue addressed in a matter of hours. Highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for starter-apartments in the Dupont/Georgetown area!
The building is infested with cockroaches. The reviews below must be paid or management. Maintenance has no idea what to do about this problem and they only have Orkin on site once a month, even if you have an emergency with roaches crawling all over you. Also, there is frequently one or more elevator that does not work.
When I was looking for an apartment for DC, my experience was greatly enhanced by the State House Property Manager, Preston was so helpful and friendly. The building has a warm and friendly vibe and I always looked forward to coming home and really felt like I had a home in DC. The management are incredibly (shoutout to Preston and Miguel) are responsive and friendly to needs and will always look for ways to enhance your experience. Overall, a very comfortable and satisfying place to live. I
I moved into the Statehouse a few months ago and have really enjoyed the complex so far. Yes, it is old and could you some updating, but the rent is so low and the location is ideal that it more than what it lacks in other areas. My only complaint is that the kitchens in each unit arent very big - but I knew that going in. I have quickly made friends with 8-10 other units on other floors and it's becoming home. Great for young professionals, grad students, and those moving up in the world. Price included every utility except for cable/internet and parking... you seriously can't beat this place; I recommend it to all my friends.
I have live at the StateHouse apartments for a few months now and I have been very satisfied thus far. Location is ideal for me. The 24 hrs front desk staff are cordial, friendly and very helpful. Management seem competent and proactive. my neighbors on my floor are awesome and nice. I am looking forward to living here for a long time. I would recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic place to live in the DuPont Circle area of Washington, DC to visit State House Apartments and check it out for your self. You will not be disappointed to did so.
I really enjoyed my time living at the State House. The apartments are modest but the building is well run and you can't beat the location. You also can't beat the prices considering that the State House is literally two blocks from DuPont Circle.
I love my studio here. I have lived here for over a year and plan to stay another two. It's so close to the metro, and I can get to work in 15 minutes door-to-door. Management is amazing and is very responsive to any issues. The front-desk staff is professional and takes their jobs seriously in collecting and managing packages and ensuring non-residents do not wander around the building. While it may seem small, you can do a lot with 450 sq-ft. studio, and I have separate living and sleeping spaces. I previously lived in a place in NoMa that had a gym and pool, but I never had time to use either. If you want to be in a great location for a great price, then I really recommend State House.
I have been living in the State House for a little under a year and am overall disappointed with my choice. I have had multiple issues with the on-site parking, the fire alarms are highly sensitive and go off nearly every time I cook something in the oven, and most recently I have had cockroach and water bug issues in my apartment. Management does not seem interested in resolving my issues. The building is extremely old with constant repairs going on that never seem to fix the elevator or water issues. I would not recommend moving into the State House. The price is not worth all the hassle and issues.
Although this place needs updated, desperately, the location for the price totally makes it worth it! You cannot find a more affordable place in Dupont in the mix of everything. You are within walking distant to EVERYTHING! Food, the Metro, Shopping, etc. I love it. I wish the place was updated and had central heat and air BUT for the price you can't beat it. The staff at the front desk is also friendly and helpful.
