Hugging the Congaree River and stretching east, Columbia is a sprawling city with a history dating back to colonial times. Nicknamed the "Capital of Southern Hospitality," Columbia is a welcoming, warm city -- it is also a college town, home to the University of South Carolina. The university is located downtown, covering over 359 acres. The historic, top-ranking university dates back to 1801, but the oldest structure in Columbia is the Seibels House, built around 1796. It currently serves as a house museum.
While there's plenty for college students to do, Columbia provides a variety of activities -- whether you're a golfer, a shopper, or a foodie. Kid-friendly activities are everywhere, from the gorgeous parks to the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. The downtown district provides a variety of shops and restaurants along brick-paved sidewalks, and the river and nearby lakes provide opportunities for boating and fishing.

Property Ratings at Station at Five Points (Student Housing)
My daughter lived at the Station for 2 years and the first year was fine, but then a new management company took over and the second year was awful. The "gated" parking lot, which you pay for, had no gate for the entire year. It was impossible to get anyone to answer the phone or respond to an email. When she moved out they sent an email saying they would inspect as soon as you leave, then refused to do so. They were very rude when I spoke to them and extremely unhelpful. We had hoped to stay in one apartment through college as we live far away, but instead had to find new housing for Senior year. If I could give them 0 stars I would.
Property Manager at Station at Five Points (Student Housing), Responded To This Review
Hello, I apologize for the issues you may have experienced. The gate was repaired many times, but then unfortunately hit by multiple residents after repairs. We upped our security and towing in the garage due to the gate being open. As for not being able to reach us, our standard is to answer all phone calls during office hours and to also respond to all emails prior to the end of the day, so we are a little confused by this statement. Our inspections were completed on the last day of the lease for all residents, which was July 23rd. Thank you!
The location and amenities are great for students. Maintenance issues are fairly common, but the maintenance team responds quickly and is very friendly!
Especially if you are moving in from a different state, this place is a great and cozy place away from home. ! Location is central to local eateries and grocer AND the staff is super chill, sweet, and always putting on fun events! 10/10 recommend

Property Manager at Station at Five Points (Student Housing), Responded To This Review
Hello, thanks for taking the time to write this review. We are so sorry that your experience at Station at Five Points has not been a positive one and want to work with you to address your concerns. Our parking garage are run by our vendor, who tow to ensure that there is enough parking for our residents as well as authorized guests. If someone does not have accurate parking identification, they run the risk of being towed. That being said, we do work overtime to ensure that our residents have the correct information about towing and parking, and that all residents understand our rules and regulations in regards to our parking garage. As for any complaints about any on our staff, I strongly urge you reach out to me, personally, so I can quickly address your issues with our Property Manager. I feel comfortable speaking for our entire management staff when I say we would never want any of our residents to feel uncomfortable, especially in their own home. If you are willing to meet with us in person or over the phone, we are confident we can work through a lot of these issues together. We sincerely want you to have the best experience possible and we’ll do what we can to help. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks! - Your Station at Five Points Team, (803) 937-4599, ccroft@peakcampus.com.
Lived here for two years and it was HORRIBLE! Don’t be deceived by all the photos you see and the location (near USC and 5 points!) Maintenance left our dryer broken for OVER a month in the fall and the again in the spring, there are roaches, it stinks of trash, just very poorly maintained in general and as someone who has lived here for TWO calendar years I would 100% recommend exhausting ALL other options first! The place is RANCID! I had to give it one star to post this review, wish I would give it ZERO stars! Save your money and live literally ANYWHERE else! IN ADDITION to all this, I would NOT trust the good reviews you see as they ACTIVELY give away prizes to residents ($5-$50) gift cards for writing them reviews and showing them, so do with that what you may and if you decide to live here… I wish you the best of luck, you will CERTAINLY need it!

Hi Kamira, I hate to hear that this has been your experience at Station at Five Points. I reached out to you to get more detail on your experience, so that we can make improvements moving forward. We do have pest control that is available on a weekly basis, and all common areas are treated on a quarterly basis. As of this week, we are implementing valet trash that should alleviate trash buildup in the compactor spaces. While we do run contests for feedback, we never require a certain score of review. Therefore any feedback is rewarded. We love hearing positive feedback, but we also want to address any areas that we have fallen short. I hope that we are able to connect in the near future.
Mice, insects, rats . You name it all a problem here at stations . Management has change three to four times in my 12 month lease. Even the leasing consultants leave . Only two janitors for seven floors of housing and one maintenance man recently hired a second thanks a lot expect . Trash back ups and slow work orders would not recommend at all. Location is nice yes, downtown is nice yes , but the overall experience as a resident you will regret

Legit the worse place to live at. Homeless people sleeping in the stairwell almost every night, soooo many maintenance issues, things breaking down such as appliances, air conditioning and parking garage gates, fire alarms going off at 2 in the morning, no security or security system broken so anyone can come in or residents get locked out, you don't sleep bc it's loud at night with ambulances and fire trucks driving by late at night, legit they cut off the whole complex water for 2 days without any notice to residents and no explanation, dog poop on the floors. I had to switch rooms bc my first room was so gross was not cleaned beforehand and didn't even have a sink. Don't live here it's not worth the money!

Thanks for your suggestions! We appreciate the recommendations and will discuss in our next team meeting. Feel free to stop by the office anytime or reach out via email/phone - and if there is anything I can do for you, let us know! Thanks! -Management
Everything about the Station is trash. There is trash, vomit, and poop in the hallways that is left there for weeks and not cleaned. The trash chute rules are ridiculous, stating that they will fine us for not disposing properly, yet there was a condom on the handle of the trash chute, left for a whole week while trash piled up. The management is awful, they brush off every complaint or comment, and the custodians say they have come and fixed problems when nobody has come at all. When I moved in the room they gave me was disgusting, hair in the bath tub and all, they moved me to a different apartment with the wrong room and still not cleaned. The rent is way to high, with a bunch of hidden costs that you would never see coming. The tanning bed they offer has not been cleaned once, there is lotion marks and hair all up in it. The walls and windows are paper thin and any conversation can be heard through them. The printer they offer has been out of ink for weeks, and when I told them about it, they said "I know". The elevators are disgusting with crude pictures scratched in the walls and things smeared all over (looked like poop to me). All in all, DON'T LIVE HERE, its not worth it

Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback about your experience with us. We would like to have a better understanding about your experience. Please reach out to us at (803) 820-0376 at your earliest convenience.
My daughter, a sophomore at USC, was excited to move from her freshman dorm room to what seemed to be a great apartment complex. Wow, what a let down this has been. To start with, the TV provided with the apartment didn't work when she and her roommates moved in. It took about a month for management to provide a replacement. On a more serious note, the access control for the door from the parking garage to the 6th floor apartments didn't work for nearly two months. Anyone could simply open the door and enter the building. My daughter and other residents repeatedly called the front desk to report this situation and was told that it would be repaired. As with the TV situation, property management showed no sense of urgency. This past Saturday, my wife and I visited my daughter and had to be careful not to step in any of the numerous spots of vomit on the hallway carpeting. As of Monday, despite numerous calls to the front desk, it still had not been cleaned up. The latest issue is the "testing" of the fire alarm system. This has been going on for two days so far, and for hours on end each day. My daughter was told that this would be going on all week. In an effort to see if I can find out why this is happening, I tried calling the apartment and the Atlanta home office of the apartment complex's owner/management company (Peak Campus). Good luck with that! You simply cannot get a person to speak with, just a menu of some options that all end with "leave a message and someone will call you back." Here's the shocker -- no one calls back. This is definitely a one-and-done situation with this apartment complex. In a nutshell, my daughter and I STRONGLY advise anyone considering this complex, or any apartment associated with Peak Campus, to look elsewhere. There is a reason for all the negative reviews.... they are well deserved.

There are various maintenance issues I've had that have taken forever to fix. The trash area is disgusting. Our keyfobs stopped working so I have to walk all the way down and around the building to get to my room. Only plus side is it's close to five points.

I went to stay with some friends and had a great experience at Station. My friend left me her key and didn't tell me where her apartment was, but the front desk clerk Dillard helped me find my way no problem. He also gave me details about everything else the Station had to offer. I took full advantage of the pool! The outside area is kept so nice and neat!

I've lived at Station for almost four months, and have had a great experience. I transferred to USC this spring semester and, not knowing anyone, I was glad I was matched so well with my roommates. The only issue I've had is a burnt-out light bulb, which I reported to the staff, who fixed it right then.

Hi, we really appreciate your positive review! Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you; we are more than happy to help!
Overall, this is just a terrible place to live. There were issues with management on the move-in day, the property manager has changed multiple times throughout my time here. The staff is hit or miss, sometimes you will find someone who wants to help but usually, they couldn't care less. Expect to pick up your packages days after they arrive because they simply do not "log" them once they come in. The noise where I am typically isn't bad, sometimes people will yell from their balconies but overall it is nothing you wouldn't experience with student living. The hallways are disgusting, I don't think they have a cleaning service to vacuum the hallways. The trash room is always gross, it seems that they only empty the trash chute once every few weeks and it piles up almost to the ceiling. The rates for next year are increasing but nothing has been done to improve the property. The fire alarm has been broken for months, always going off in the middle of the day and in the wee hours of the morning, waking everyone up to evacuate thinking there is a real fire. Maintenance never shows up and when they do it is for 5 mins. Honestly, the only plus to this place is the location. It is close to everything.

This has to be the worst place that i have ever lived. The management is absolutely embarrassing. I truly believe that this is the most poorly managed complex. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. THEY NICKLE AND DIME YOU ALL THE TIME. THEY WILL TOW YOUR CAR EVEN IF YOU LIVE THERE. SAVE YOURSELF ALOT OF STRESS AND MONEY AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE. I PROMISE YOU WILL REGRET SIGNING A LEASE HERE. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THERE DOING. AWFUL.

Renting at this location has been a huge disappointment. For one, the staff and manager are very unprofessional and inexperienced. They also misrepresent what is included and not included in the fees. They showcase the parking among in a list of items that are included with the apartment, but then charge for the parking which is a significant expense at $50 per month. When some residents had not budgeted for the parking, they were directed by the management staff to park at the grocery store nearby. Subsequently, the cars were towed by the store. This happened because the staff directed residents to do so. Several of the appliances are broken. They easily charge residents for violations that are not substantiated and when residents try to speak to the management staff, the staff is not available or does not answer concerns. The bottom line is that the management staff is horrible and there are hidden costs that can be very hefty.
