Centerville is a large suburb located about fifteen miles south of Dayton along Interstate 675. Primarily a residential community, the landscape of Centerville is largely filled by low-key neighborhood streets, with a handful of shopping centers positioned on the north and south sides of town. Residents enjoy easy access to the amenities and attractions in neighboring Kettering, including its huge stake park. The area is packed with public parks, and the combination of high-performing schools and a low crime rate has helped make Centerville one of the region’s most popular options for families.

Property Ratings at Steeplechase
I would strongly advise anyone considering living here to think twice. We are going into month 3 and I still have nicotine dripping from vents. Everything I own now smells. The area director tried to put blame on a single neighbor who no longer lives there.

Needs more attention in regards of cleaning the community, old buildings with noisy neighbors, sometimes I feel that the guy living above me will fall down in my living room. One of our bedrooms is next to the hallway, we don’t sleep in it because everybody is slamming their doors. Not mentioning the maintenance that would take forever that’s if you got lucky and they decided to take a look on your request.

Lived here over a year. Apartments are ok but the new staff is very unresponsive. Multiple calls during multiple days, left messages and no answer.

They Just recently got a new company managing them and they've been so helpful with our move in information so far, my sister has lived there for about a month now and loves it, they have worked on fixing everything they can for her
I have never left a bad review before but I will do it for the lack of follow up from the office manager and the maintenance supervisor at Steeplechase and from their corporate office at Roco. Our AC unit failed last summer. We were told that the unit would need to be replaced but they haven't received the funding from corporate. They never received the funding so we had no AC last summer. 5 weeks ago I went to the office to ask for an update on when the new unit would be installed. The manager said she would call me back. I have gone in the office weekly and have given my contact information but still to this date no one has called me back. 2 years ago when we signed up the complex was managed by the Conor Group and the service was phenomenal - phones were answered within a few rings and maintenance requests were completed on time. Employees were on performance bonuses and it showed. Unfortunately, we got unlucky at the worst time when Roco took over. The office staff has since changed numerous time, phones are not answered and no one follows up. The neighborhood is quiet and safe but it's hard to justify renewing for another year and paying $8K when basic needs are not met. Roco clearly does not understand the importance of retaining their existing customers.
have lived in this apartment complex for almost 4 years, and am moving out this summer. In October of 2017, a note was left on all of our doors letting us know the property was getting sold. I wasn't worried because I was convinced it couldn't get worse than the Connor Group. I was wrong. The company that took over, ROCO Real Estate, is a fairly young and inexperienced company by industry standards, and it shows. The property has been through 3 managers, 5 or so office staff and 3 maintenance men since the end of October. This makes it impossible to get anything done or to have any sort of consistency in the upkeep of the property. There are things I requested be done in DECEMBER that are still outstanding. They haven't kept the residents up to date on policy changes, changing things like UPS/USPS package acceptance, rent due dates and office hours without any warning. The office hours on the door don't even match the website. Each manager has asked for time to get used to things, and for us to be patient, while the maintenance requests pile up. It's been 5 months and things just aren't getting better. The apartments are not very nice for how much I pay, and the First Billing Services bundle is ridiculous. I was told that when the Connor Group left First Billing Services would go away too but it hasn't. The complex used to feel really safe and the location is great, which is what has kept me there for so long. But it's going down hill and fast. ROCO Real Estate should not purchase properties they aren't ready to manage - it's not like they are in a retail business - they are in a business where people are paying them to manage their HOMES. When you don't remove snow, fail to keep the hallways clean, issue erroneous eviction notices, allow mail to pile up all over the floor of the building, have no control over the property in general - you are impacting people -people with jobs, families, lives etc. When you start not to feel safe or comfortable in your own home, it's more than a management problem. They should do better or find something else to do with their time. Being from the area, and knowing what else is out there, I encourage any one reading this to live literally anywhere else.
Like dog poop? This is your dream community. look somewhere else, you can do better
We love the pool, billards and 24 hour gym and basketball court. I never have to go any place when inviting family or friends over because of all the good things to do in the club house.
I love the location of the community, very close to everything around. The clubhouse is nice and I like that there are things to do there. Very quiet community. The apartments are spacious and the staff is very pleasant.
We moved in 6 months ago and love it here. The office staff is always pleasant and helpful. The maintenance department replies quickly to all issues and keeps the grounds clean. The community is quiet, even with a lot of children living here. All residents are respectful of each other. The location is perfect - it is close to everything you need. The only issue I have is I wish the clubhouse would be open to residents after the office closes.
Leasing staff will is very friendly and courteous. Always will to help you out. Repairs are completed in a timely manner. Highly recommended.
I moved to Steeplechase in late June of 2017. My initial experience was excellent and has continued to be the same during my first 3 months. The staff is great, very helpful and professional, always greeted with a smile when entering the office. The community is very well kept and and accommodating for myself and my two children. I would recommend Steeplechase to anyone looking to move into an apartment complex...first class!
Love to live here. People are kind xD And love this floor plan is nice too and quiet!
These apartments and the location are just about for everyone. This is my second time leasing with Steeplechase. Office staff is friendly and eager to help anyway they can.
I love living here from the modern design to the friendly staff ,they take time to know you . The best part is the clubhouse with the basketball court inside and pool outside its literally the best apartment in the arena !!
this place is not bad i like it because it peace and quite and friendly people leasing agent is awesome
It's not a bad place management is okay friendly neighbors and pet friendly maintenance is awesome that guy is to cool but honestly you get what you pay for here it's not bad though.
A short drive to mall and restaurants. The community is clean and quiet.
come at you with threats of steeper price increases if you don't sign a new lease early. Signed the new lease and they still increased the price after living here only a year. tried to work with them on options for me to sublease/get someone to take over my lease so i could save significantly more money in a house with room mates but they unfortunately don't have a buy out option and don't let you sublease so im stuck for another year. They told me they might be able to work something out and that they would touch base with me after they asked higher ups for an exception but weeks went by and each time i asked for an update they said they didn't ask yet....next thing i know my new lease started. Wasted 2 months waiting for them to do what they said just to hear nothing...won't be coming back and would recommend anyone that lives here have a room mate because you will spend at least $1,000 a month when it's all said and done if you are on your own.
Steeplechase is a safe and inviting community. The steeplechase staff are always willing to help and are very friendly. Maintenance is quick to respond and helpful. I love how the community is dog friendly and my neighbors are respectful and friendly as well. My apartment is spacious and updated for the price compared to surrounding apartment complexes. I am very happy with my experience living here.
A quiet and friendly place to live. Staff is quick to respond to any apartment issues as they arise and are always friendly and polite in my experience. I've lived here for just about two years and I have had no major complaints in regards to Steeplechase and the services they have provided me during this time. 5/5
Great location and quite clean property. office staffs are wonderful they take care all issues pretty quick.
Like honestly, Beautiful assistant named Shereen, Great help and great assistance ! Wouldn't have made the final decision without her!
I have just recently moved in and I really enjoy Steeplechase. Shereen helped me with everything over the phone, as I moved from another state. My son loves the amenities and I feel very safe here, the staff is really busy, but yet they work really hard! Not knowing Ohio very well safety was a huge concern for me, I feel very secluded and safe here. I looked at other apartments in another city in Ohio with the same price ranges that can't even compare. So glad I made this desicion!
You definitely get the most bang for your buck living at Steeplechase Apartments: a luxury apartment and the staff is always around to perform maintenance if anything goes wrong. The apartment complex is also in a good area as you're five minutes away from any store or restaurant you can think of. I highly recommend you give them a hard look because you'll be hard pressed to find another place that offers as many perks as this place.
Friendly staff, private bathroom, washer/dryer hookups, and a dishwasher. All around nice apartments
We moved in a few months ago and so far so good. They have very nice amenities and the location is ideal. The area is quiet and management has been nothing but awesome and pleasant. The only complaint I would have are the thin walls but that's to be expected in apartment living.
The staff is super friendly! The pool is also very nice and open later than the office. My favorite parts of the apartment include the walk-in closet with extra shelving, the nook for a small dining table (mine has a great view of trees) and the private, large balcony that also has a great view of the trees(!!!). My apartment also features new appliances and a washer/dryer hookup (make sure your appliances are small enough to fit). The apartment is super close to the high school and multiple shopping and dining locations. After a few weeks of living here, I can say I'm so happy I chose Steeplechase!!!
What's great is the very quiet neighborhood. Driving into the estate, I feel a sense of privacy, I know that I live in a welcoming, clean neighborhood. The apartment is actually pretty nice. Moving in was delightful, but I did notice that it seemed like they rushed repainting the apartment. The fridge was a bit dirty. The only heartache about moving in though was management. They require a walkthrough, which is usual. However, I was told I had to wait for a walk through, since they had an appointment around the time I moved in. I remember asking how long it would take, their response was "five minutes". So ya couldn't just take five minutes, walk me through my apartment? Would ya like me to tell ya it'll take five minutes to pay my rent? So we rescheduled at 1PM. Crazy thing is, the walk through didn't happen until 1:30PM. Left a bad taste. That doesn't set a good example, you expect me to pay rent on time, but show up late to a five minute walkthrough? On top of that, the AC didn't work, had to get service done, it was fixed in five minutes, which was good. I also didn't receive a mail box key since they lost the previous mail box keys. The apartment is what you truly make it, you're allowed to do whatever you please to the apartment. The on site amenities are awesome. Pool, gym, basketball, volleyball, that's pretty cool. Everyone is super friendly. One thing I can seriously complain about are the bundle pricing. Internet, cable, get's bundled at $100. Not cool. We're moving to a time where all you need is internet, I could be saving about $50 - $60 if I had just internet. Utilities get bundled at $60 to $80, not including electric. So in total you're looking at paying $160 -$180 a month in just utilities. I should really just say internet and cable, which the bundle is not optional or negotiable. You HAVE to have the bundle no matter what. Even when I went to pick up my cable/internet from TWC, the rep said I was paying way too much. LOL! It's a good thing I'm making good money to afford this place. If you really think about it, it evens out with the on site amenities and quiet, peaceful neighborhood. If it wasn't for the tough start with management (which management has gotten better since I've shown frustration.) or the bundle prices, this place would get a perfect five stars. If they raise the rent prices when I'm thinking of renewing the lease, I'll be looking else where for sure.
I loved the apartment so far! Friendly staff and any issues that I have are taken care of in a timely matter!
I recently moved into Steeplechase and LOVE my apartment. The Steeplechase staff has always been extremely willing to help with any issue or questions I have had. Maintenance requests get resolved within 24 hours on most cases, great layout of apartment, and a great clubhouse/pool. Overall, very happy I chose Steeplechase over other nearby complexes.
For the three years that we have lived here, it has been great! The apartment was clean when we moved in and the layout is awesome. It's a quiet complex and the open space is great to walk your dog. Jessica in the office is very friendly and very helpful with anything you need.
We've lived here going on 3 years now. Never had any major issues. If anything does happen the maintenance staff is pretty quick in getting it handled. Jessica in the office is always super nice and friendly when we come in and is always willing to help with anything.
This place is awful! My experience with this company was all negative.
Been here since May 1st, couldn't be more pleased. Wonderful staff, made the whole process of apartment renting easy. Everything was laid out, no hidden cost. Great area, very safe, wonderful school system and close to everything! The apartments are extremely nice, the grounds are well kept and anytime I've had maintenance issues, it's been resolved in less than 24 hours. Love being here!
I've seen a lot of places in the area and this is by far the best. Rent is affordable and all the amenities make it amazing. The staff and other residents are very friendly and always willing to have a conversation about anything and everything. Highly recommended living here!
I have had the best experience at Steeplechase. I moved from another state and did everything over the phone. The girls picked the perfect apartment for me and it was exactly what I wanted! It can be very scary to move into an apartment that you have never seen. Thank goodness I trusted steeplechase, because I love my apartment!
I lived here for 4 years. After 4 major floods due to leaky pipes in the walls (keep in mind I lived on the second floor) and 1 fire (on the first floor), destroyed furniture and clothes, etc. I am very disappointed in this complex. All they care about is draining your wallet. They lump everything into one payment through a third party billing agency which sounds good, but it is actually a way they have orchestrated to make more money for themselves and you have no way to negotiate different pricing because your lease locks you in. The worst is their TWC contract which forces you to pay a crazy amount for internet and cable (which they increase in amount at their own discretion). I love the staff, they are super nice, but The Connor Group who owns the property is sneaky and sly.
The floor plans are nice, if dated. The apartments are quiet. That's about the nicest I can say about them. If your apartment needs service, just file a service ticket. Or two. Or three. However long it takes them to actually fix the thing properly. Their prices are outrageously high for the area, and they use strongarm tactics on getting you to renew your lease—sign now and they'll *only* raise your rent 10%, but if you wait you'll have to raise it 20%! The utility bill is ridiculous as well—over $150/month, and expect them to come up with an excuse to raise it by $10-30 every April. Oh, and when you do finally move out over their extortionate rent hikes, have fun paying a bill for so-called "damages." Expect it to add up to a month's rent if they haven't found a new person to lease the place. Avoid at all costs.
I moved in a few months ago, and I have had nothing but a fantastic experience. The office staff is absolutely wonderful and extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The apartments are clean and spacious, with updated appliances. The community is safe and great for young professionals. I highly recommend it to anyone!
Beautiful place go live with lots of amenitied. Unfortunately they raise the rates every year. The school system is second to none though, so we continue to re-up our lease to keep our kids in this school system.
And this place has gotten better. I had a nightmare of a move-in with the old management. However, since the new guys took over things have gotten better. I now feel like it's home. It's a great community for military and non-military families. I will say that the bundle bill they force on residents is unreasonable and pricey. I would rather choose my own tv/internet provider, because that bill plus what I have to pay in rent is a bit much. Other than that, they do have a pretty sweet rec room and clubhouse with a pool, and are pet friendly.
Walk in the footsteps of the former owners, literally, as you move through the large floor plans. Let the history sink in deep...ly into the carpet fibers and bald patches of plastic mesh that were available to Jurassic residents. At this apartment complex they really roll out the red carpet for you! *red carpet stains cannot be guaranteed. Variance in color will occur based on previous tenants questionable sense of hygene.*
