Property Ratings at Sterling Glenwood Apartments
Just moved in to my newly renovated apt. and it is VERY nicely done. All of my initial concerns were handling promptly and with a positive attitude. Very professional staff and beautiful grounds. Compared to other properties in the area, I am impressed! ML
I will preface this review by saying that Shante rocks. Every interaction with her was pleasant & enjoyable. D was a very dedicated maintenance man when I needed him. I lived here for years before the management changed. Before this, it was a bustling community with a mixture of tenants. It was difficult to find a parking spot because of how full the building was. Now, the parking lot seems like a barren wasteland. I never had difficulty getting a good parking spot the last year I lived there. There have been a few safety concerns that arose over time. It's not uncommon for the police, CCBI, or both to arrive multiple times a week. I work early in the morning, & thrice there were HOMELESS PEOPLE SLEEPING IN THE LOBBY. One morning I had a gentleman wandering the halls approach me asking for a ride. There was a tenant who terrorized the building, screaming at people in the hallway, as well as trying to fight her neighbors. Another tenant would openly talk about his court dates, his weapons, drugs, etc. Every month there is a pest fee added to your rent, but nary an exterminator appeared in about a year. I was starting to get roaches when I left, so I guess that's what the pest fee was. The laundry rooms straight-up suck, between the dryers not drying after multiple loads to the washers not reading the laundry cards. Maintenance walks around a lot talking on their phones & talking to their friends. As stated above, D did a great job once. However, I once put in a ticket & it was not fixed for 4 days because they...didn't have a key to my apartment. And they...just...didn't tell me? They ended up taking my key to make a copy. My last gripe was that when I was moving out, we were told we couldn't park the U-Haul in front of the building or use the elevators in the lobby, despite this not being a rule for the entire 4.5 years I lived there. At the end of my tenure, there would be multiple U-Hauls at once with people moving out. I'm not sure if the change was to hide that so many people were moving or if there were other, more...sensitive & charged reasons. In conclusion, tenants are moving out at an alarming rate. The weekend I left, there were 3 other units being vacated. Since then, I have heard that there were upwards of 5 additional tenants leaving over the next few weeks. I hope management can get it together to save what was once a great building.
These pics are so old! (Except the one renovated unit.) They're from before the current company took over and the entire staff quit. Now the common areas stay dirty or out of use, the pool area especially - its bathrooms are disgusting and never stocked. The coffee bar is no longer stocked and the "clubhouse" is full of stained furniture that never gets cleaned. The staff is unresponsive when you have an issue or concern, and law enforcement is called on residents at least twice a month. Great location but it's not worth it! (Oh and there's no central a/c)
I'm a current resident and the property have went downhill since the new management. They are extremely rude the roaches are outrageous you honestly see at least 10 in your bathroom, kitchen and living room everyday the pest control does not work at all so you are basically wasting your money on it that they add on to rent and Do not get me started on maintenance they do not do their jobs and whatever they fix well most definitely be broken within a week.... If they even come to your apartment at all... Please save your money and move into another apartment in the area Sincerely: a resident that cannot wait until the lease is up

Thank you Latashia! We are glad that you are loving it here and we hope that you enjoy your new home!
I have loved living here for the past almost 2 years! I have always had the absolute best experience with their kind and extremely helpful management team which just made my first apartment post-grad such a smooth transition. The rooms are absolutely adorable with the cute colored porcelain tub that matches the floor and toilet (I got pink and felt like I was a Pink Lady)! You get a beautiful contrast from the old touches like that that they kept as well as from the new renovations such as a garbage disposal, light fixtures, kitchen floor, dishwasher, stove and countertops! Oh did I mention they have Google Fiber as well!?!? Everything about the unit is fabulous and the lobby looks like the entrance to a fancy hotel with a side room you can rent out for parties or to just hang out with other neighbors. The gym equipment is crazy nice and has saved me from myself more times than I can count from the constant and delicious food trucks they have come once or twice a week! If you have any trouble with anything in your apartment the awesome maintenance staff was extremely nice and would be there like lightning! Also the location is literally bonkers you get Crabtree Valley Mall LITERALLY a hop across the highway and you're already on Glenwood Avenue so it takes 7 minutes to get downtown, to Cameron Village and to Five Points. I have never been in a place that was more connected! I never worried about anything there and the team at Sterling Glenwood is one that should get awards for all that they do! I highly recommend this place and thank you all for being so wonderful to me these past couple years!

I recently moved to Sterling Glenwood Apartments, and I have never been so happy! Every morning I wake up with a smile on my face! Living here is a dream come true. It truly is a gorgeous, one-of-a-kind building, and I honestly feel like I'm living at a resort hotel! Everything is so modern and trendy, with a retro twist. There really is nothing else like it on the market. High-rise living that I can actually afford. I LOVE having a lobby where I can socialize with my neighbors. I also LOVE the view from my apartment, as well as the luxury swimming pool! I am minutes from downtown, and practically next door to Crabtree Mall. Everyone who comes to visit me is shocked and astounded by this place! So, aside from all of the awesomeness that I've just described, the best part of all is the Management team....namely, Julie, the Property Manager!!! I am not new to renting, and I am telling you, Julie is BY FAR the BEST PM I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She is professional, caring, expeditious, kind, considerate, and an excellent customer service provider!!!! She truly goes miles above and beyond the call of duty, and she treats her residents like royalty! I just could not be happier about where I live, and I couldn't have chosen a better place to call home. If you're lucky enough to get an apartment here, you won't be sorry!!!

Thank you very much for your kind words, we so much appreciate your positive review regarding our team and community. Very happy to have you as a resident!!
I first lived here in 1991, loved it then and now I've lived here for two years after the remodel. The remodel is well done with amazing outdoor space. I take my barbecue to the pool area enjoy a swim and watch one of the two outdoor TV 's in front of the fireplaces while cooking hamburgers to enjoy with my friends and neighbors. I enjoy Highrise living with secure entry and the great neighbors that I call friends! I live in a building with over hundred neighbors and the safety I feel is important to me . If your looking for boutique courtyard living this may not be for you. If your looking for a big city feel inside the belt line with an affordable price then you found your home.

Thank you for your review, we are happy you like your apartment and the community.
I live in a one bedroom apartment at Sterling Glenwood Apartments in Raleigh, NC. I moved in Feb. 1, 2015 and have had an excellent experience there. When I moved in, there were a few things that caught my eye right away. First, the living room and bedroom were huge. I have a king sized bed and there is tons of room left for my other bedroom furniture. Second, the appliances were all new and up to date and the apartment was freshly painted. There were a few things that needed fixing, like a loose cabinet door and the staff jumped on the problems that same day and fixed everything. The whole apartment complex has been renovated with a new entry way and meeting place, a new state of the art gym, a new and beautiful swimming pool, and currently, new carpet is being laid in all the hallways. If you want to live in a newly renovated, well managed Apartment complex, that is 2 minutes from Crabtree Valley Mall and 5 minutes from downtown, then Sterling Glenwood Apartments are for you. My rent is a little over $800 and is very reasonable for the excellent location. Oh, and yes, they do allow pets!!

Thank you so much for your candid and positive review. Our entire team appreciates this very much.
The apartments are very nice just wish they had a washer and dryer inside the apartments rather than in the hall
Property Manager at Sterling Glenwood Apartments, Responded To This Review
We appreciate your comment. Sterling Glenwood is a classic 1960's midrise building, and while we have made significant interior and exterior improvements and added many new amenities, we are not always able to everything. We hope you consider leasing an apartment with us!
Julie is very friendly and top notch to work with. Apartment building is being upgraded. Looks nice.
I first lived in Beckanna in 1990 it was my first apartment away from parents. I have returned and been here for six months. I disagree with the reviews I read on other sites. There were mostly regarding the previous management staff. I am pleased with the whole staff , professional , responsive and organized and that's all I can ask for. The building is currently under renovations and remodel and the new gym is going to be spectacular. New pool is under construction. I find the residents are friendly a nice mix and I have a number of new friends made here and we get together on spontaneous occasions and have a good time. Is the building perfect no, Is it brand new, no, Is it safe. Is it loud, on occasion I hear some through the front door but never bothered me. There are over two hundred apartments here under one roof , that's what I was looking for and the ITB was where I wanted to be so as far as the value, cant beat it. I have referred two friends that are looking and may be neighbors soon. If you are looking for a quiet , quaint, garden style apartment then this building is not for you. If you are looking for a open minded , all welcome, reasonable apartment inside the beltline and you like living in a highrise then I think you should look.
