Property Ratings at STERLING PLACE
The apartment complex does not care about the people living there. I have been here less than a year and during that time there have been numerous car break ins, and some people have had wheels and other parts stolen off their cars. When told about the problem the complex shows zero empathy and it is clear they do not care. They refuse to take the simplest measures to protect the residents. They will not even put up cameras to cover the parking areas. Besides the break ins at this complex the maintenance is horrible. They either will not fix the problem, or they will fix it so that it just breaks again shortly after. Avoid at all costs.

I've lived at Sterling Apartments for the past year and had a great experience! The location is very convenient, close to downtown Columbus and downtown Dublin. The staff is also great! -Connor

Hey Connor! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave us this review, we are so glad to have you as a resident here!
Staff just don’t care about you, they had 5 days with cold water, they took a lot of time to fix something that they should have fix the same day. It happened in winter and they didn’t care I had my 2 years old. Don’t rent here, just the worse complex with the worse staff

Hi Kathleen! I am sorry you had a poor experience with Sterling Place! We do have almost a whole new staff now, I would love to chat with you to help resolve any outstanding issues. Paige P. Community Manager
I am a current resident who will be vacating soon due to the inhabitable conditions of this apartment unit. I’ve experienced nothing but issue after issue since I moved in and I’m breaking my lease because I cannot deal with these issues anymore. There is water damage in the windows and my window frame are broken, causing bugs to fly into my unit. I had to tape my windows up just prevent the bugs from getting in. I asked management to fix to and I was informed that they would not be able to give me an eta on when they would fix my windows due to the contractor they do business with. My bathtub was not installed properly and it makes creaking noises when you stand in it. There is mold on my bathroom ceiling in my shower so between both issues, the bathroom is not a pleasant place to be. The vents in my main bathroom and bedroom does not circulate air properly. If I sleep with the bedroom door closed, I will be sweating within the hour and my air has been on 65 degrees since and that barely keeps the room cool. Within the first week, the frame from my stove fell off while I had food in the oven and I had a difficult time taking my food out. When I called maintenance, they informed me it was not an emergency so they clearly do not care if the unit would have burned down. The cabinets were not finished and the wood looks like they purchased scraps to finish the bathroom cabinets. There is possible mold and water damage in the cabinets as well and the rust on the handles are disgusting. The exterior walkways are filled with bugs and spider webs and no one tries to keep it clean. I came home today and found a lump in my ceiling due to a leak that occurred upstairs and water fell all over my floor. No one called me beforehand to inform me of anything, I had to call to find out. I’ve only been in this unit since May and I’ve experienced nothing but disappointment. Frankly, I don’t believe they deserve the fee in order for me to break my lease let alone the 60 day notice. Paying the last two months rent for a place that has nothing but unfit living conditions is horrible. If you don’t have to live here, please don’t. Maintenance does not care and neither does management.

Hi Alicia! Thank you for taking the time to leave us this feedback! I would love to get these issues resolved for you, I will send you an email to discuss the details. Paige P. Community Manager
The red flags were there before I even moved in. A couple days before my originally scheduled move-in date I got a call from the leasing office saying my unit would not be ready in time for me to move in because somehow it was taken off their maintenance schedule. I still moved in a couple days later than the initial date because at this point I had no other options. When I got the keys and went in for the first time I discovered the maintenance work that had been done was less than minimal. The place seemed as if it hadn't been cleaned at all from the previous tenant, I had to call emergency maintenance on my first night because the washing machine hadn't been connected properly and flooded my kitchen as well as the kitchen of my downstairs neighbors, and a bunch of various little things like broken light fixtures, doors that wouldn't close, uncovered electrical outlets, etc. It took maintenance over a month to respond to those requests. It's now the middle of summer and my AC has stopped working. I filed a maintenance request over a week and a half ago and have heard nothing back yet. It's regularly reaching 85F+ inside the apartment. My lease says non-working AC when above 80F is reason for an emergency maintenance request. Emergency maintenance has been non responsive.
Think long and hard before you rent here because the price is high and the experience is anything but luxury. I have lived here for 3yrs with 2 different management companies. The current management company, gold oller, has made the complex go far downhill. It takes forever for maintenance requests to be fixed, even if they are emergencies. I have had a leak and a hole in my bathroom ceiling with the exhaust fan literally hanging off since February. My air conditioner stopped functioning for weeks and I had to withhold rent to get the office to send maintenance to fix it. I had water stains in my kitchen ceiling that they just had someone spray paint over with white paint - no leak addressed or damaged sheet rock removed. The already high rent does not include community utility fees and cable/internet packages they add on to your bill in addition to those you pay separately. Living here has been a total headache and for the price you can get significantly better experiences elsewhere.
Outstanding costumer service, the staff are definitely great vibes and they’ve made my move in process a smooth transition! Excited to be here.
The first unit we moved into had many bug traps with multiple bugs inside of them (even a few roaches). We were told this was protocol and pest control had taken care of the issue but would be back in 2 weeks to double check. Also when we moved in, there were multiple other issues such as terrible water damage to the molding and walls, mold in the bathroom cabinet, the air conditioning did not work properly for at least a month, and our kitchen counters looked like a tiger had scratched them completely up. We lived in this unit for 2 months and the entire time it was INFESTED with roaches. Pest control came out at least 10 times and the problem was never fixed. We ended up transferring units but we had to move to a more expensive unit. They only waived the transfer fee. We decided it was worth the extra money to have a renovated unit with NO bugs. The unit we have been in since has been much better but the complex as a whole definitely has many issues. It's very spacious and has its pros but just make sure if you move here to really take a good look at the exact unit you will be moving into. I can tell they are doing their best to make upgrades which is nice but just be cautious.
To be frank, I find the property too expensive for what we get. While it is aesthetically pleasing the building has been found to be more distressed than originally noticed. The interior continues to present both minor and major problems, more so than previous apartments I've rented in similar price ranges (multiple inconveniences in the short time we have been here, the most severe being a water leak), and ridiculously high fees tacked on to our rent for water and trash. Thee trash changed with such infrequency that is constantly over flowing despite costing me twice as much as previous places and there is only one compactor for the entire property. It looks like such a nice property and it is very beautiful on the surface which I can still appreciate at times; however, underneath it has been rather disappointing and not worth how much they charge after all the ridiculous amount they charge in added fees not included in the rent.
The staff in the office was nice and helpful for the few days I was there. I wasn’t moved in my apartment for a good 3 hours and there was roaches crawling on the counter top of the kitchen. I’m sad to say for as nice as the complex looks I didn’t expect that at all. Just relocated to Columbus and that was the worst experience ever. I moved rt back out my apt 2 days later after moving in because that was unacceptable. The property manager was very nice and respectful about everything however for the price a month there should be no pets problems especially roaches.
Quick to respond and the staff are very caring. When I had an issue with AC Tim was very quick to have it fixed, now that it's getting cooler out and I don't need it now as often it was nice to know that on that one random hot day it was a priority.
Property Manager at STERLING PLACE, Responded To This Review
Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us!
I have lived here for less than 1 month and let me tell you... it’s been awful. I have never had so many things go wrong so fast. There were so many issues right off the bat, from the dryer not working, leaks in the ceiling, doors falling off, broken cabinets, paint chipping, and normal wear and tear. Management rarely answers the phone and doesn’t attempt to address the issues in a timely manner. In fact, my dryer is still broken and they won’t even return my calls. The walls are thin so you can hear everything going on above you, and there is only 1 dumpster in the entire apartment complex. They use cheap cosmetic upgrades to distract you from the fact that these units are falling apart.
Do not move here if you are not planning to lease a top floor apartment. The walls are very thin, and the complex is designed with the largest apartments on top. The complex rents these out to massive families and only cares about the money and not making a good experience/thinking about others in the surrounding area. The new management moved in a family with 3-4 kids and 2 restless dogs (noise from 7am-2am=5 sleep hours). I am now finishing my lease overlapping with my next lease so I have somewhere I am paying for that I can fall to sleep. Management was unwilling to be empathetic and negotiate a lease change since it is a 'legal binding contract' but offered to take 'legal action' on the people above (they do nothing wrong/abnormal, but their situation should not have been moved in there to a top floor). Positive: maintenance is usually amazing. They usually do a job job, but one time our garbage disposal needed replaced and they didn't fix it all the way and it caused a leak. Other than that they will work for you. There is dog crap all over the walkways that never gets picked up and managed. I think an experience here can be decent if you get a top floor apartment, but that is about all I would recommend. You will be very miserable if you buy any other apartment where you have people above you based on the apartment complex design and structure.
I don't know how those fair reviews were posted. I wanna talk about the real experience that I had during my stay: 1. They charge more than $120 utility fees on top of the rent which includes water, sewage and trash etc. 2. The maintenance team can never get the work done especially the dishwasher, toilet and AC, heater. 3. The leasing office treats you warmly before you sign the lease. Once you signed the lease, they will never care about you and will never respond to you. 4. Some critical issues with the old design of heater: the design of heater makes it far not enough to warm the whole apartment during the winter season!!! You need to buy extra heater yourself since the apartment will be extremely cold in winter!
Everything about this apartment complex is mediocre. First the upgrades they have made are new appliances. That’s it. They threw paint on the cabinets and a sticker on the floor to look like wood. The apartment itself is just run down. Definitely older Bc i have slight cracks on my wall that creep up to the ceiling. And most of the apartments bedroom windows face the inside of the exterior building. So you hear all the foot traffic and the lights are blaring in your window. Maintenance takes 48 hours at least. Management gives you all these promises but always fall through. Snow removal is good for the roads but as far as sidewalks go it’s terrible. I have a dog and this isn’t the most friendly dog place I’ve lived. To exit the main road can be difficult at rush hour times I’ve waited at least 5 mins before it was clear before. It definitely needs a traffic light. Would i live again, yes but for a couple of hundreds dollars LESS than what they are asking. Honestly, there are better places out there. Save your money and live somewhere else!
I lived in a lot of apartment complexes over the year and the management that took over is what finally convinced me to move out. I have never been treated worse in my life. The buildings are old and they are only concerned about "upgrading" the small things like paint and appliances. They ignore the real issues like water heaters that constantly leak (9 different leaks in 18 months before they replaced the one above us) and a heating system that "was not designed for Ohio's extreme temperatures" (actual quote from the manager). Our apartment barely got above 60 degrees in the winter, but maintenance refused to fix it. We had $300 electric bills because we had to keep two space heaters running in the bedrooms just to be warm. Maintenance requests are ignored or only half fixed. For example, water leak? They'll be right over to punch a hole in your wall/ceiling and stop the leak. Expect to wait 6-8 weeks before they come and cover up the holes. They will also not do anything about terrible neighbors. I'm not talking about a loud party occasionally. I mean people who have knock down, drag out fights at 3am 1-2 times a week. Despite calling the cops on multiple times, a resident being arrested a couple of times, and showing the management the police reports we were told to deal with it. I could go on and on, but I hope you don't need further proof. Please think of your health and safety and rent someplace else.
Worst staff, lies on top of lies. They will sugar coat anything just to make you sign a lease. Rent is getting higher and higher for very cheap upgrades. Not worth it at all. Better off going some place else. Dont be fooled!
I've been a resident since October of 2016 and I've seen great improvement since. The staff is friendly and the upgrades are beautiful. The apartments are spacious and the environment is clean and quiet.
I have been living here for just about three years. I rarely like to do any type of reviews, but this I feel is necessary. Move in! With the new ownership and management, you will be pleasantly surprised how great this place is and to come home too every night. Between all the upgrades (via roof, apartment updates and parking lot), you will simply call this place home like I do myself everyday.
I have lived here for a year and just resigned a new lease. The staff that I have dealt with is kind and willing to help. The maintenance team is usually pretty good about getting things fixed. They have done a lot so far in updating the complex. The location is nice because it is so close to so much. I am an outdoor kind of person so for me the biggest perks are the huge balcony and all of the open space around the buildings with trees and ponds.
Great place to live for the last several years! Plenty of space that allowed for natural light to enter the apartment. The staff have continued to be informative throughout the new management process.
I've lived somewhere new every single year now for the past five years. Sterling is the first place I've ever renewed my lease. They've done a great job at taking over the "less than adequate" condition that the previous owner's left the place. Brooke in the front office has been very helpful and is always willing to go out of her way for the tenants. It's been a great stay and I'm excited to see the rest of the improvements that are on the way.
I've lived in this place for 1,5 years and I really like it, especially the big balcony. The new management is taking good care of the complex, and Brooke is very helpful.
In the almost 2 years of living here, I've had a positive experience. Maintenance issues have always been taken care of within a timely manner. The new management has come in and made a lot of improvements, many of which were much-needed. Brooke in the office is really personable and helpful. Overall, I have enjoyed my time in this community.
I have lived here with my girlfriend for three years and have enjoyed it a lot. Great location, amenities and very dog friendly. Good price if you are moving in, but rent increases are big. If you can afford it, it’s a great place.
Have lived in the apartments for three years, and we have seen a significant improvement since Connor Group took over. The office staff is fantastic, and the location is great, however the price of the apartments has increased significantly since we moved in, and the most with the new management. Only good things to say!! - but the $$ increase is the reason for only 4the good rating. Unfortunately we will be leaving due the large increase in rent, but if you can afford it we would definitely recommend it!
Very close to everything I need, (shopping, movies, working out etc...). The staff was very flexible while working with us and they accept pets! Nothing but good things to say.
Super friendly and helpful. They really made this process easy for us. Great location!
My experience so far with Sterling Place has been amazing! My family and I are moving from Louisiana to Ohio and we had limited time to find our new home. As soon as we walked into Sterling Place we knew that we were home! Brooke was so helpful and kind to us as well as the rest of the staff and that sealed the deal on signing a lease here. We were looking between two places, but you cannot put a price on customer service and Sterling Place excels in that area! We are looking forward to our move in day.
Sterling Place Luxury Apartments feel like a best-kept secret! Beautiful area- with trees, ponds, fountains, pool! So quiet back here, all tucked in, and yet extremely convenient to everything- 315, Sawmill, Riverside, 270. It's a central location- perfect for getting anywhere in and around Columbus. Close to great grocery stores, and wonderful restaurants all around, as well! Staff is attentive and friendly. They have really worked recently to renovate and update the entire complex. New paint, new roofing, beautiful landscaping already in place! It's going to be gorgeous as it warms up this spring! Apartments are well laid out. New washer dryer, gas-burning fireplace, balcony with room for tables and chairs. It has been perfect for our family. Also it's dog-friendly, with places to walk your dog, plenty of doggy stations throughout the property! There is also a very nice workout faciliity, and a beautifully appointed common area between the pool and the offices! Make this your home!
I have rented a one bedroom deluxe for the past year and have had a great experience. I love my apartment! It's a very cute set up and perfect for just me. The gas fireplace was amazing in the winter. The leasing office staff are all very friendly! They have done so many renovations over the last 6 months... the complex looks amazing. My friends are always impressed when they come to visit!
I have only been here for a week or so, but so far am pleased with everything. There were a few minor hiccups getting moved in, as the apartment wasn’t quite ready, but every member of the staff has been wonderful to work with. Brooke was my leasing agent, and could not have been more friendly and efficient.
Sure everything isn't going to be perfect but with some work you'll enjoy living here. The area is great with friendly neighbors and management.
I just moved in to a one bedroom loft on the third floor and absolutely love it! The community is extremely quiet and peaceful at all times and it’s by far my favorite place to live thus far. Neighbors are extremely friendly yet not nosy and the staff is extremely helpful. I am extremely happy in my decision to move here!
After a long day of hopeless apartment hunting I stopped in to check Sterling Place out. Immediately knew this is the one. Compared to all the apartments in the area Sterling is a no brainer. Pet friendly, decent sized rooms, huge windows, washer and dryer, fire place and upgraded kitchens and bathrooms were all selling points for me. The only thing I wish there was another closet or 2 in hallways for extra indoor storage and another trash compactor.
Apartment is nice and the appliances being upgraded in the Spring. One of the places around here where you're able to own pets. Location is great. Staff is friendly and helpful too.
I've been living here for about 7 months. The staff is friendly and the recent upgrades make the apartments look excellent. Any issue I've had was resolved within a couple of days.
The staff were very helpful and gave us options to meet our needs. The apartments are very nice and close to a lot of great restaurants/shopping. The neighborhood is great in general, and the atmosphere is calming. The apartments also have new steel appliances, and are upgraded.
I’ve looked at several apartments throughout Columbus, and I have to say Sterling Place is by far the best value. The apartments are really well kept and the updates they’re making are amazing. My experience with the leasing office has been a smoothest experience I’ve ever had. Alexis in particular has been super helpful and responsive. Couldn’t ask for a better place or management!!!
I visited Sterling Place last week to view the one bedroom loft. Alexis was very helpful and friendly when giving me the tour. She answered all of my questions, and I absolutely fell in love with the layout. The complex was taken over by new management a few months ago and the renovations are in process. All of the units are getting brand new cabinets, carpets and appliances. I can't wait to move in!!!
Great place to live. Friendly staff, great location. Currently under remodeling by new management.
Really nice apartments, good price and in a good area.
I recently moved in here. Brooke was super helpful with the whole process and I love living here so far! I have a great dane and it's challenging to find a place to live that has such a great pet policy!
First of all the, the entire staff has done an outstanding job. Everyone has been very friendly and responsive to us. The new roofs and painting make the complex look a lot better. However, the person that made the decision to do this during the winter should be demoted! A few things that need done. Repave the entire entrance into the complex leading up to the club house and other areas that need it. Address signs need posted with arrows pointing which direction to turn. I have watched fire and police pull up with no idea which way to turn. Side walk snow removal has been very poor! Not done on a timely basis, not done effectively, and more salt needed. Overall we are very happy with everything and everyone !!
After telling the property manager Joe and even offering to provide a copy of my bank account statement showing my rent being pulled from my account on Jan 24th(bill pay through my bank which mails my check in) because it wasn't "cashed" I'm being charged over $100 in late fees for February rent on Feb 8th. I even offered to cancel and reissue the check. They have lost my payment 4 times, and a couple times have later found the check in their office. Their core values are to "do the right thing" however they are doing the exact opposite. I have had multiple issues with maintenance (including heat) not being fixed in a timely manner (over 2 weeks). Right now I'm stuck with a lease, however I intended to move out as soon as possible. Never been treated so poorly.
I’ve been here for over 3 years and am planning to renew later this year. If you are looking for new - this is not for you. But if your looking for a place that has the feel of home in a quiet location and a staff that is attentive to to your needs in a prompt manner, you might want to consider Sterling Place. Big improvement with the change in ownership.
I’ve lived here for over 3 years and just love it since the change in ownership. New staff is friendly and attentive to any issue that might arise. The exterior upgrades have given the complex a fresh upgraded appeal. I’m looking forward to renewing my lease later this year. Great location!
I have lived at Sterling Place on Bethel for 5 years. I love my unit! I love all the extra storage! I have a carport and a garage. My only concern (only during rainy times) is that the garage is not water tight. Love my unit!
Since the new owners have taken over, this place has became an amazing place to live. Office staff is very great to work with, the upgrades have been great and the maintenance staff has went from a sore spot to an attribute. Have already recommended many people to live here and will continue to do so!
The newly renovated apartments are really well done. Updated and feel brand new. And the complex is very conveniently located to anything you would need. Nice and attentive staff.
