Property Ratings at Sterling Village Apartments
I had several issues while I lived there. First off, my apartment smelled like cigarettes and I asked the leasing staff to rid the odor from my apartment. They finally removed enough of it the second time I asked to the point where it was livable. Then, I began hearing welding noise outside of my apartment. The apartment complex did not notify the residents, but the stairs did not meet the fire code for safety so they had to get them fixed. The welders worked every day with their car size generators and I asked the leasing staff if they could work somewhere else since the noise was unlivable for me. Then, the leasing staff said “everyone else has to deal with it, so why can’t you deal with it?” Seriously? How rude! They should have apologized about the issue. But they were too lazy to do that. The third problem I dealt with occurred when I returned from out of town. The leasing staff left a notice to vacate my apartment with only a 1.5 month notice to move out. I had already moved 7 times in the last 2 years, so I was not ready to move yet again since I had moved so many times already. I asked them if I could move to another apartment in the complex since I liked the space itself and I was tired of moving and they said that they couldn’t since they mass vacated a bunch of residents. When I asked them why they were mass vacating residents, they said “well we don’t have to tell you why, we just send those notices out to people…” Then, with a simple google search, I found out that Sterling Village apartments were planning on renovating their apartments and did not have the integrity to tell anyone about them. If you cared about your residents, you would not keep stuff like that a secret. Instead, you would send a courtesy email notifying your residents of what’s going on in the apartment. The leasing staff failed to properly address this situation and properly communicate with their residents. It showed they’re unprofessional and lack respect for the residents. Lastly, when my dryer stopped working, I asked maintenance to fix my dryer. They came over two separate times to attempt to fix the dryer and failed to fix it. When I told the maintenance guy about the issues upon move-out inspection, he argued with me and said “well you can’t win them all…” Seriously??? The people at Sterling Village are so rude and unprofessional to their residents and clearly don’t care about them. I’m so glad I don’t live at Sterling Village anymore… I’ll say that much.
Visited the community everything looks great , the office lacks communication and the proper use of rental terminology . There is a a big difference between holding fee, application fee and security deposit . The lack of knowledge on how to conduct themselves. Office star claims they have been trying to contact for weeks and not a single email . We decided to accept jobs out of state so we were unable to move to location, blessing in disguise. So reached out and all three times the property manger used different words for security deposit , holding fee and an application deposit . Stay away from this place they will rob you blind
We will begin our 4th year at Sterling Village in September. We are older and decided we no longer needed to do yardwork and deal with the constant repairs and updates an older some needed. After visiting about 12 apartment communities we decided on Sterling Village. There are so many reasons I believe this is one of the best apartment communities in the south county. The staff are friendly and even know our names. Some have bee employed with the company for 15-30 years. The grounds have mature trees and plants. It is well-kept and clean. The area is quiet. Although the railroad, traxx, and frontrunner tracks are nearby you can't hear them. One of the main terminals is about a mile away. Although the complex is older (+20 yrs), The units are kept clean and well-repaired. I understand they are doing some kitchen and entry updates. All of our ugly aluminum blinds were replaced with 2" non-aluminum blinds. Whenever we have had a maintenance problem and have reported it, within 3 hours a maintenance person has contacted us. The problem is taken care of immediately if they have parts available. if not, repairs occur in a timely manner. The pool is large and very well maintained. I can honestly highly recommend Sterling Village.
When your A/C stops working, the policy here is that they allow maintenance 2 hours to respond, and they reserve the right to not repair it unless the temperature in your apartment is over 82°.
Property Manager at Sterling Village Apartments, Responded To This Review
We are sorry that your air conditioner wasn't working properly. There are times when Maintenance isn't able to immediately address your issues but they work very hard to respond to all requests as quick as possible.
The area is convenient being near walmart, the traxx and also where i work but service is slow, and the appliances are worn and need to be fixed time and time again.
A couple of roommates and I decided to rent an apartment at Sterling Village starting last year. So far, everything has been great! The apartment is spacious enough for the three of us and two cats (they're pet friendly); with high ceilings and a huge patio. The community is maintained well, with lots of trees for privacy. Our apartment came with an attached garage included in the price of our rent. It's so nice to carry in groceries right through my garage! They also have extra parking throughout the community, I usually don't have a lot of trouble finding a place to park. I definitely recommend Sterling Village if you want an apartment with a lot of space and a garage included. The staff is also pretty nice and helpful
