So first of all - I'm a procrastinator to the nth degree. 2 years later and I'm getting to it. We lived at Shelby Woods from 2017-2020. Initially, our first apartment was not a good experience because the old complex manager lied stating we were in a quiet area when we in fact right NEXT to the highway and it was anything but quiet. But then Sarah was the new complex manager and she was the blessing this place needed. She was so helpful in all the ways; found us a secluded area apartment (bc we loved the area and didn't want to leave), she helped us out when neighbors doggos were a little too obnoxious, and if we had any other questions - she was always an e-mail away. We do miss the wood floors and granite counters compared to what we have now. In todays market, it is a bang for your buck, and the area is safe and tidy.

Pros: •Has good features within house; kitchen, bathrooms, in house laundry. •Safe community and located near a ton of parks and good schools. •Has garage. •parking is convenient for self and friends/family. •management is on top of complaints/issues with apartments. Cons: •maintenance crew on site doesn't really know what's going on at times. •Noisy, can either hear neighbours through the walls or the highway outside, can never have windows open. •Get ready to haul everything up and down stairs. A lot of the units are second story so you will be doing a lot of stairs. •Outside isn't really taken care of anymore due to new ownership. They try to but there is trash from garbage cans and highway all the time. Noone picks up outside and lawn company does a poor job and misses a lot. •You will be paying a lot in rent and utilities. •you live right next to a swamp so summertime you will be swarmed if you are near it. •People do not pick up after themselves here. Cigarette buds, broken glass at times, trash from bins can blow around when it's windy. •poor job at taking care of snow in the winter or they overkill it and there are salt piles everywhere. I would recommend if you are going to spend this much you might as well buy a condo or small house. It is convenient not having to do anything outside like lawn care or deal with snow. Don't expect much since this is still considered an apartment complex. Village green bought out the last owners and doesn't do as good of a job. Have lived here for 2 years.

New management- raised rent by $325/mo. for that they trimmed the bushes and put down mulch. The walls are thin, the maint. staff favorite saying "can't do anything about that". The furnace is so loud that in the winter I have to turn off the heat to hear TV. No weedkiller, no spraying for mosquitos nor ticks - on a wetland-- so plenty of both. Lots of promises on what they are GOING to do but nothing being done.
I just moved to Michigan for work from Windsor Ontario, Canada. Sarah was helpful at getting me approved with a brand new US SSN, and was able to use my Canadian history to help with my approval process. Moving in was a great experience, place was in great shape and move-in ready. Any very minor issues Jeff promptly addressed and they do professional work. Sarah helped answer a lot of my questions, and being my first time living in the US from Canada, she helped make the transition easy with new banks set up, and we had everything lined up ahead of time before I even moved in. The property is great, I don't hear any of my neighbours and everyone around is friendly and courteous. Would highly recommend
I just moved a week ago and I absolutely love my new place, I looked into many apartments and Condos before meeting with the staff at Shelby Woods North and I was not completely sold on everything that I was looking for, within the first few minutes of meeting with the staff here I knew that this is where I wanted to be, the property manager assisted me every step of the way with from patently going over all the floor plans to helping me transition all utilities, moving can be very stressful and it really felt great to be welcomed to the new community, the property and Condos are beautify, the price for the amount of square footage is also great, I'm very happy to be apart of the community.
We just moved in, and love it here! It is beautiful, well-maintained, and peaceful. We were living nearby and paying several hundred more in rent. The rent here is so reasonable, and the quality is better than our former apartment! The layout is spacious with plenty of natural light, and my husband has more than enough room to use his workbench in the garage. Our little dog even loves it here. There are plenty of sidewalks and trees for nice long walks. Sarah, the property manager, is amazing. She truly cares about you and making this the best experience possible for you. I highly recommend coming to see for yourself. Shelby Woods North really is a great place to live!!
I have just moved into Shelby Woods North from out of state and the apartment is very nice. The property manager Sarah has gone above and beyond to help make my transition as easy as possible. I have lived in several apartments, but have never met a property manager as professional, courteous and helpful as Sarah. The maintenance supervisor Jeff was also courteous and quick to respond in dealing with a minor repair. There are many nice apartments to choose from, but a great staff can make all the difference.
We lived at Shelby Woods North for two years, before moving with the military, and had a wonderful experience. Our apartment was very spacious and overlooked a large wooded area, giving us a rural area feel. Maintenance was exceptional, Jeff and Logan really know their stuff and fixed things the same day. Management was very easy to work with and went above and beyond for us even after we moved out. We couldn’t be more pleased with our time there. Thank you for a great time Shelby Woods!
These apartments are hands down the best value for the dollar in the area if you want a luxury apartment with a garage. The apartments are very spacial with a home like feel. The maintenence staff always completed all my requests in a very timely manner and were very courteous. The office manager Sarah is hands down the best office manager I have ever dealt with. She is awesome! Returns your call, takes time to explain things to you, and is on top of it general. 10 stars to her. I shopped the market extensively when looking for a home in the North Macomb, East Oakland County area and they have the best prices for everything you get. I would highly recommend any friend or family member to live there.
My daughter and I recently moved to Shelby Woods North and we are SO impressed by the staff, the apartment itself, everything! We were previously at another complex and had the opportunity to move here. I am so glad that we did. I love the fact that the walls are not all white like some other places have. Little things like that make it feel more homey. Any maintenance issues we had the guys were quick to resolve and even helped us figure out how to hang our picture with the hooks they suggested we use. I was worried with moving from an apartment where I had a lot of noise issues but all of my worries have quickly diminished. I am so glad we decided to make Shelby Woods North our new home!
My name is Samantha and I lived at Shelby Woods North Apartments for one year and a half. I absolutely loved my stay here. The apartment I had was classy, tasteful and very beautiful on the inside. When I had maintenance issues they were handed promptly and completed satisfactory. I loved it so much here - I recently purchased a condo in the same community. The office staff treated me extremely excellent - friendly, polite, honest and respectful. I encourage anyone whom is looking to rent - this is where to go! I had a hard time leaving my apartment - as I loved it so much. I had an end unit and it was peaceful too and did not hear my neighbors one bit. Nice community with great people. Very happy with my experience and love it here!
I was the first renter for my unit and loved it so much I rented it for the last four years. The up to date energy efficient appliances kept my utility bills reasonable. The bedrooms are a good size but my favorite was the huge master bathroom. It’s in a nice quiet community. I also enjoyed being about 15 minutes from anywhere M59, M53 and plenty of alternate routes to get me on time to work, Church, gym, restaurants, movies...
I have been living here two years the apartments in the common areas are well-maintained. The staff is very helpful with any problems and or questions you may have , And I really quick to rectify any issues I would recommend these apartments highly.
I have lived at Shelby Woods North for almost 3 years now and have loved it! The management office has been great in follow-up and efficiency. The lines of communication are always open with them and they respond to you within the day, which has been a true benefit with my schedule. They have been more than willing to accommodate and work with me for anything I had brought to their attention! In addition, they are diligent in maintaining the luxury aesthetic of the area, I have been very impressed with the maintenance upkeep (snow, lawn), keeping all residents within lease agreements and ensuring the overall area is kept up. You don't find this everywhere you go, which is one of the main reasons I truly appreciate this residence. The living spaces are beautiful! Spacious, luxury appliances and granite countertops, which is something you can barely find within a reasonable cost! In addition, they thought outside the box in making each residence feel like a true home based on layout and other in home upgrades. I cannot express how much of a luxury residence this has been! Three years here for us and counting. Great management, great neighbors and the property is kept up. Any guests we have over say they can't believe how nice our home is. Husband and wife management team are approachable and friendly and things get done quickly. The people here care and respect you and that's rare these days. They are stuck with us here, because this is home now.
we were asked to do a review of our experience at Shelby Woods after we moved out and we figured its the least we could do. we only moved from there to purchase our first home or we would have stayed. i will miss having someone to do all of the maintenence for us and the guy is really nice and gets things done super quick. management is great and they will work with you through everything and are always available and approachable. we will miss the great community and the homey feel and the great way we were treated even when moving out. this is really a great place to live.
Moving from Northern Michigan to such a crazy area was hard for us. It was difficult to get calls back from communities we were interested in seeing, no one was ever in their office, or we were always told that an advertisement we so online was no longer available. One frustrating day, we saw the sign for Shelby Woods along the highway, and my wife convinced me to turn around. We spent a long time looking for the property because driving by it, you don't realize they are actually apartments because the community is honestly spectacular. You wouldn't think they'd be for rent. We walked in and met with Nicole the property manager. She was so nice and knowledgeable, that she made it easy for us. I think even if we wouldn't have liked the residences we'd have moved here anyways, simply because she's the only one that acted like she cared. We spent over an hour touring the property and talking about our move, our interests and what we were looking for. They were nice enough here to even recommend other properties because we really wanted a 3 bedroom. Nicole kept telling us we should at least look at one of their floorplans that had an extra loft space in it, and we agreed. We are so glad we did. The space was perfect for us, because the loft area is more than enough space for my office and we didn't forfeit the second bedroom for our child or give up our desire to have an office. The units are so nice, I figured we were being shown models. To our surprise, Nicole told us what we saw is what we get. And we needed to be in within 2 weeks, and she called two days beforehand to tell us the unit was ready and we could take a look at it before our movein date. We didn't even have to come back, which is great because we lived almost two hours north. All of our paperwork was done online and she walked us through everything. They even had private representatives from the AT&T call us to set up service so we didn't have to sit on hold and we got way better pricing for living here. We have been here over four months now and love everything about it. Our work orders are done the same or next day, and Kelvin who does maintenance is so friendly it's hard not to like him. We just wanted to thank everyone at Shelby Woods for making this move so much easier on us. We are so happy we accidentally stumbled upon you, because we love our little slice of heaven surrounded by all this wildlife, in a city that otherwise seems overwhelming.
My husband and I moved from out of state because he's in the military. We had no chance to look at the unit we rented before moving in. I was really scared moving across the country to a home we had never seen before but we were both so happy!!!!! Nicole is amazing. No one else took the time with us that she did and that is why we chose to move here. She was so friendly and helpful and made the move so easy on us. I was really not expecting anything this beautiful and it is the nicest place we have ever lived. My husband still comes home every day with a smile on his face saying he loves it here. We really love how nice our neighbors are to and the garages are awesome.
Absolutely beautiful & the client service is A . You truly do get the very best of both worlds here at Shelby Woods. I have been living here for over 3 years and I just cannot say enough. Not only is the community quiet, the condos are designed tastefully and beyond clean. They have the absolute sweetest maintenance team, not that I ever needed them, however they truly are willing to do anything you need if needed. I wouldn't live anywhere else in the metro Detroit area.

I lived there for a year and would not recommend this complex to anyone. They were very rude at the end of our lease and the day we were moving out they called us wanting to know what time we were moving out and wanted to have the handyman in the apartment that same day. It was rude. Also, we accidentally left one cupboard in the kitchen with some dishware in it and instead of keeping it for us (would have picked up that same day) they threw it out... We were rushing to get out of the apartment so we forgot something.. Give someone a break!!! And you can hear everything your neighbors do and the highway traffic noise is horrible.

The end of your lease was the day prior and it is policy that keys are to be submitted no later then the start of the business day on the 1st. I did push back the scheduled crews when I saw that you needed more time that morning and when keys were submitted in the afternoon, we thanked you and did not charge you any additional rental fees. We apologize if there was any miscommunication and wish you all the best.
I have lived at Shelby Woods North for over a year and have had nothing but great experience. The staff has been so friendly and if I had any issues they were taken care of in a timely matter. I was having issues with my garage multiple times and they took the time to get it repaired and installed a complimentary keypad for any inconvenience it caused. I signed a year lease because I was planning on buying when the year was up. I love the layout of my unit and actually looked at buying the condos in the same complex. I couldn’t find a place I wanted to live with the short amount of time I gave myself to look so I decided to stay another year at Shelby Woods North. Shannon
Have been in the apartments 2 years and love it. Nice quiet homes,with great neighbors. Everything is kept clean and updated. Apartment is big and have not had any issues. Staff is available for any questions you may have. Great place to live.
I stayed at Shelby Woods for a year while we built our current home. The experience was much better than expected. I was nervous coming from a big home and have never rented. The management staff took care of everything we needed in that time period and the luxury finishes made it feel like home and were what we were used to. Service team was helpful and we both feel ( my husband and I) that if we were ever in need we would have a great temporary place to stay!
