With its charming and historic downtown, brick-paved sidewalks, and rolling green hills Jackson is a hidden gem. It is located off I-40, roughly halfway between Memphis and Nashville. It is the county seat of Madison County, and it is home to several colleges and universities, including Jackson State Community College, the University of Memphis at Lambuth, and Union University. It's also the location of the Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame and the Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum.
When Jackson residents want to shop, they have plenty of options: Shoppes at the Columns is an outdoor shopping area filled with well-known stores and restaurants. Old Hickory Mall, an indoor shopping mall, is located off Old Hickory Boulevard and is surrounded by smaller strip malls. At Fairgrounds Park, residents can peruse the items at Friendly Frank's Flea Market. For fresh produce, they head to the West Tennessee Farmer's Market.
In a state famous for music, Jackson holds its own.

Property Ratings at Stonewater Place Apartments
My family relocated from Georgia to Tennessee in October 2019. We moved into our apartment on the 8th of October with high expectation of luxury. “NEGATIVE!” The introduction of the complex was totally the opposite of the inside of the apartment. It was not ready for move in; microwave had a broken handle; animal hair in the refrigerator, on the side of the oven along with crud and food; oven was not cleaned on the inside; chip grout in between the tile; air filter not replaced; a very strong stench in the master bathroom (biggest issue). I cleaned for a full day before we moved into the apartment. These issues were brought to maintenance attention on the 9th, and a few days later I went to the office with the complaint. Maintenance did not resolve major problem. Real issues with integrity, luxury do not live up to the performance. Apartments are spacious, but a lot of dead space, not functional for a family (not enough closet space, space should have been utilized a lot better), too many keys to use, and it's not gated. The only good thing is the garage and location. PLEASE COME AND INSPECT BEFORE YOU LEAP!!
Property Manager at Stonewater Place Apartments, Responded To This Review
We are disheartened by your review and invite you to reach out to us with any concerns you are having so that we may remedy them for you and make Stonewater a place you are happy and proud to call home.
When handed the keys to the place it had just been completed. No final cleaning was done. Drywall dust and dirt everywhere. I thoroughly cleaned the place at my expense and didn't complain. When it was time to move to my next location, I left the place much cleaner than it was when I moved in. The office was too busy to do a final walk before I left, so I started my trip to Florida. After calling a couple times, I was told no deposit money will be returned due to cleaning the place, a broken blind (which I will take responsibility for), and an awful smell that required the removal of the carpet and sanding of the concrete floor. To this day, I have not received any pictures or receipts as requested to back up that exactly $800 was used to prepare the place after I left. I would not recommend living here unless you enjoy being ignored and wasting money.
I moved into this apartment complex when the first phase was barely completed in 2013. The apartments are beautiful with tile floors, granite countertops, and fireplace. The private garage has been the best feature for me. I lived here basically problem free for the last 3.5 years. The owners were awesome handling all the office details and new apartment maintenance. In 2014, an office / property manager was hired, who continued the same practices. She was great at being professional, friendly, thorough, and helpful in the office, maintaining rules / safety, and getting any maintenance / repairs done. The only problem experienced has come with the new manager now, Phyllis. She is not in the office when she is supposed to be, leaving a sign on the office door that she is on the property (when she is not). She has exhibited questionable professionalism, by giving tenant information (without tenant knowledge) to other tenants. She imposed a $50 extra space parking fee ( that does NOT guarantee a space when paid), and threatened to have my vehicle towed from my own driveway. I hope the tenants (each and every one) will start receiving the same professionalism that was originally in place here.
I relocated from Pennsylvania, and actually looked for apartments online. When my daughter visited the apartment for me, she was so pleased. The apartment is so spacious, and has such nice features. I love the tile floor, granite counters in kitchen, high ceilings, fireplace, spacious pantry and large rooms. I love that I have my own garage, and a storage area inside the garage. I moved from a 4 bedroom home, and did not have to get rid of as much as I thought I would in order to fit into this place. Phyllis, the property manager has gone above and beyond, letting my movers in when they changed the delivery to when I was at work. She is so friendly and helpful. I also appreciate how professional and friendly the maintenance man, Billy, was as well. I have been able to take advantage of the 24 hour fitness room, which is wonderful to have for convenience. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.
The apartment is very nice and spacious. The included one car garage is a very nice feature. I looked all over Jackson and this complex is the only one that offers a garage for no additional charge. It also seems like a nice quiet place, which is a plus. The only thing is the office manager Phyllis, seems to tell more information about the tenants than I am use to or comfortable with Overall I like the apartment. Also, I read the other review (Wonderful Service and Quality Property) and it seems to be a staged review, or written by the manager. A little over the top for a real tenant to have written it. Still a nice complex.
I am relocating to the Jackson area and this community is by far the best I looked at. The new apartments, huge, spacious and filled with upgrades at a reasonable cost sell themselves. What did it for me was the customer service received from Phyllis, the property manager. I was able to seamlessly navigate through the new tenant process from afar. She is informative, very kind and on the ball! By the time I arrived, all I had to do was pick a unit and sign the papers. As we were riding through the property, it was refreshing to see the other residents genuinely having wonderful conversation with her and welcoming me. Sometimes, you can tell, that this is forced, but not here. It is secure with prominent members of the city government and community as residents. I also had the pleasure of meeting Bill the maintenance man. Again, very welcoming and letting me know he and his team are available immediately if any issues arise. I can't wait to officially move in to this beautiful, wooded, and serene property. Thanks again Phyllis for the hospitality! I highly recommend this up and coming community!
