Galindo developed during the 1950s and its ranches and bungalows reflect the style of the time. The mature trees shade the streets and add to the neighborhood’s established appearance. Galindo extends north from Ben White Boulevard to Oltorf Street, roughly two miles southwest of Downtown Austin. A great option for students, St. Edward’s University is less than a mile east of Galindo and the University of Texas at Austin is about five miles northeast.
Diverse and family-friendly, Galindo is recognized for its good schools and excellent location. The neighborhood has one large park, South Austin Recreation Center, which offers a tennis center and a walkway. In the northeast corner, just outside the boundary along 1st Street, Gillis Neighborhood Park provides a swimming pool, hiking trail, and a playground. While Galindo is mostly residential, you will find a variety of shops and restaurants in the community, especially along 1st Street.

Property Ratings at Stoney Ridge Apartments
CROSS POSTED: Packages are stolen from doorsteps and management proposes no solutions to solve it. They send out alerts to let everyone know that it’s an issue but don’t add any security measures like locking the back gate at night or increased security. They know people like the location and they don’t take any active strides to address tenant concerns. In trying to remediate my situation, I was told that there are also no cameras installed to monitor these types of behaviors. It is a great location, but if something happens to your stuff or your safety is compromised, the building and management company have no structures in place to help you. I have sent several emails to staff and left voicemails regarding recurring issues and I have never gotten a response unless I call AGAIN. The management is HORRIBLE. They will send you 3 emails a day when you're a prospective tenant and then radio silence once they get that first rent check. When you go in person they are just as unhelpful and, honestly, give a rather indifferent attitude. If I could do it again, I wouldn't live here. The units are alright, but in considering just how unsupportive the environment is and how many times police are called to the complex (at least 3-4 times a week), I can't say I'd recommend it. There are much better complexes in the area, and honestly, adding 5 minutes to the drive downtown is worth it so long as you have added security since Stoney Ridge will offer NOTHING if something happens to you.
I had a horrendous rat infestation in my apartment when I lived there and they wouldn't take care of it! They were in my kitchen at night, they were always in my kitchen and pantry when I would come home. They didn't at all seem motivated to fix the situation.
If you just need a place in the area that is somewhat affordable... this is your place. Otherwise... highly recommend NOT living here. I don't like posting bad reviews but if I could go back and never have signed a lease here, I would. Here is the laundry list of reasons why: 1. Not safe - they don't patrol or have any security, it isn't gated, lots of times lights are out around the property, and non residents from the streets wander in. Additionally, if you are on the first floor, be prepared to have things stolen from your patio and packaged to be stolen from your front door. My bike was some how taken from my patio and it was locked up. 2. Flooding - If you are the first floor... you may have flooding in heavy rain. I had this happen to me and they didn't even have maintenance on call that could come that evening while it was happening, had to wait it out until morning and block it off myself. Additionally, many of the buildings are in areas with walkways that flood. I was told when moving in that they would be working on fixing this problem... never did. 3. Management is quick and happy to respond when you reach out for something that isn't an issue on their behalf. But if it is... you can expect to be ignored. I had maintenance enter my residence without my knowledge or permission for a request that was not filed by me. Basically someone dropped the ball and put in a request for the wrong apartment. Given I have pets, I never allow entrance if I am not home. When I reached out to management (On 4 separate occasions) to discuss this, they ignored me and to this day have not said anything. 4. Noise - these apartments are old with paper thin walls. If you live with anyone above you, it will sound like they are going to fall through the ceiling anytime they make a move. So be prepared to live with constant noise from anyone walking above you. Pros- Rent affordable, location is descent.
The maintenance crew is great and the office is open 7 days a week with a super friendly staff. Thus the star. However don't be fooled. Although there is a laundry facility on site, the machines don't work. Every Saturday I try to do laundry is just another reminder of this FACT. Complain every Saturday. Every Saturday my complaints are written down. Every Saturday I get an apology and told it will be fixed. Every next Saturday we start this song and dance again. I've lived here 2 years. That's 96 apologies and 96 reaffirmation that NOTHING has been done.
Stay far away from this place! Units are old and falling apart, maintenance can't/won't keep up with repairs. There are only 4 washers and dryers for a large number of units (100 or so) and one washer is always broken so really only 3 washers. The kitchen counters are crumbling to dust, and floors are warped, peeling up. Office staff are not very friendly, or professional. They nickel and dime you to death (valet trash, mandatory renters insurance, water). Rent is high for what you get. The only positive is the location, but there are much nicer apartments in the area the same age that are well maintained and more reasonably priced.
Great location, outdated but pretty nice apartments, unorganized apartment staff.
Things that are great about this apartment : location, price, and..location. The apartment is older, has 4 washers and dryers for like a thousand residents, the staff is not very attentive, and it takes about a month to get your maintenance request put through.. BUT the price and location are the things that definitely keep me here!
