Property Ratings at Stonington Estates
The building is fine but the management is the worst. We went without a hot water heater for a month. I was called at midnight to let a neighbor into my apartment to turn off my water. When I was later asking about why it’s not getting fixed with any sense of urgency, the property manager hung up on me for being “too emotional”. The property manager is also rude in text messages. They tried to blame a sprinkler leak on melting snow (I did not live on the top floor) and after it was repaired they left a hole in the ceiling. My dishwasher leaked frequently and when they finally looked at it they said it looked like someone was cutting the seal with a knife (as if I was trying to sabotage it). And best of all when I moved out they said I should be getting my deposit back within a week then a few weeks later I got a letter saying they’re keeping it to replace all the carpets. When I sent an email to the landlord inquiring about why the carpets were deemed unsalvageable I was sent a blank email. I tried asking again only to receive another blank email. My final attempt did not even get a reply. I always paid early and did my best to respect the apartment.
Overall I'm very happy living here! Area is quiet, which I like, building is clean, great parking and perfect location! I've had a pretty good experience with the staff here. Moving is never easy, but they made the transition over from my last apartment much easier. They're hospitable, and responsive. Something I had an issue with at my last apartment!
Thank you for the great service. Your fast processing really made it so smooth to find a place. I am happy with the location, the price and building.
I lived at this apartment complex for a year. The management staff is not very responsive. We ended up waiting three months plus for an issue with our fireplace to be fixed. The landlord is often not in her office and seems to have too many issues going on to effectively manage the needs of the tenants. When the management changed, the new owners claimed that they did not have any record of us paying a security deposit and did not contact us about the deposit or send a damages claim until 60 days after we moved out and constant phone calls and emails to management to find out what had happened. We left because we were given 18 days to either move out or pay an extra $200 a month for granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, which we did not want. It's an apartment, not a home. The walls are very thin and we lived next door to a very loud neighbor who neglected her child and management didn't do anything about it in spite of two or three calls to the local police department. First impressions are very deceiving - you can find a quieter, cheaper place somewhere else.
I have been looking for a place near Foxwoods and so far this is the best one of all. I love the apartments and the building is quite and beautiful. I think this is the one.
I have been here for a little over a year now and I can say that new management change was one of the best things that happened to the building. When I moved in last year, I quickly became disappointed of the previous management team. The transition of new management took place near the end of my lease and I was really contemplating not staying. Since the moment the new management team took over, you could see the difference in how they treat their residents AND the property. Shortly after, they had an open house party for all the residents after they did their first apartment upgrade to show us what we had to look forward to. Well as you can see, I'm still here. I decided to stay and I can honestly say that I'm very happy with my decision. I'm happy with the improvements and the staff. I feel like I'm finally getting what I've been paying for.
I lived at this building for almost two years but due to work relocation, I had to move. The location is excellent in my opinion, I was near everything I needed but without the noise of the city. The building is fairly new and always clean. They had a management change but I never had any problems. I had a small issue with my dishwasher but they took care of it right away. I live by myself so I wanted something where I would feel safe and that's how I felt living there.
New Ownership and management have done a great job. The complex is clean and everyone is friendly. I would recommend this to anyone. So close to everything... very safe.
The apartment size, amenities and location are perfect for me. The complex has recently undergone a management change and, from what I've experienced with the new management so far, they are much more attentive and caring than the last. They're diligently working through the change and doing everything they can for the residents.
You can hear conversations from other units above and below. Every foot step, putting away dishes... If I had the tv loud enough to hear it someone would bang on the wall/floor above. Property managers were switched twice during lease. Both simply kept filing noise complaints and threatening eviction. One also failed to reimburse rent for two weeks without heat and hot water as they were without adequate maintenance at the time. For the money, you can do WAY better. Worst experience ever.
I will start by saying the building and units are well maintained. The apartments have an open floor plan which is nice and they are a decent size. Unfortunately the walls are incredibly thin. You can hear everything from closet doors being opened and closed to dogs barking to, if you're like me, your neighbor snoring which woke me up constantly and resulted in me rearranging the bedroom which didn't even solve the noise concern. There is also an incredibly loud hot water heater located next to the bedroom which would kick on frequently. In the winter the parking lot was a solid sheet of ice and even after residents left to go to work, there was no effort made to plow out between the spots so you were walking through piles of snow until everything melted. I really wanted to like this place, and when I had 2 months of no neighbors, I loved it but overall the walls are way too thin to even consider living here long term.
Though there is not a lot of storage room, the apartment is beautiful and spacious. Prepare to downsize on the things you would typically put in a storage closet because this place doesn't really have one. I had to use window curtains to create a door for the closet by the front door. Overall it's a pretty nice place to live in and the walls are not very thin.
Stonington Estates is a great place to live, while also being pet friendly as well!
