In 1913, the adjoining cities of Winston and Salem officially united to become Winston-Salem. The city sits in the center of North Carolina, bordered by the Blue Ridge Mountains on the west and land that leads to the Atlantic Ocean on the east. It's 130 square miles houses nearly 360,000 residents, and make up the region called the Piedmont Triad, along with the surrounding cities of Greensboro, Charlotte, Asheville, Raleigh and Wilmington.
As the county seat of Forsythe County, Winston-Salem has a long history as an active, robust municipality, especially in the central district, which comprises many individual neighborhoods. Like many adjacent towns, the South Downtown Winston-Salem community has undergone a substantial amount of redevelopment in recent years.

Property Ratings at Stratford at Hillcrest
RUN, DON'T WALK. Apartment smells like mold, no response on complaint, mold smell still there. Took 3 months to get fan installed that they promised on move in, took three months to get my dishwasher fixed THREE MONTHS WITHOUT A DISHWASHER! Refrigerator from the 1980s provides a solid lump of ice after making knocking racket. Water use creates a delightful knocking noise at the water heater for the duration of the water use. Dog crap EVERYWHERE. Price is exorbitant and the renewal price is criminal. All of my work order requests were deleted because they had too many work orders to handle so they JUST DELETED THEM!! You hear every pindrop noise from the upstairs neighbors.

Thank you! While your review is anonymous, we treat it just the same as any other resident concern. This feedback gives us room to review our maintenance process, ensure that our service associates are being responsive, and that repairs are being handled timely. We would like to dig in a little further here to understand your situation and first wanted to get in touch with you. That way we can reference your resident records and see what happens. Sometimes we can get multiple requests for a single issue, so our techs will close the duplicates and focus on fulfilling the original or latest one. While we're not excusing your concern or discounting it, we would like to make sure that every step we took was productive and ensured great customer service. Where we fell short, we will improve. Please reach out: we'd love to continue this conversation with you knowing which apartment you were in and what we can do better in that situation.

This is now WORST place to live. Didn’t used to be. New management is awful. Good luck getting in contact with them after you sign your lease. Management will not enforce rules that are clearly stated in lease. Tenants who live anywhere near the pool are often keep up until 2am with the noise of people screaming or blasting music at a pool that “closes at 10pm” according to the lease. They also don’t have a courtesy patrol officer like advertised on the website. Messages in the portal are never returned. Even going in person to talk to staff or management is useless. They will turn you away and tell you they are “too busy” to speak with you. The grills don’t even heat up to 300 degrees and they were supposedly being replaced 3 months ago. One treadmill is always down for repair and there is a good chance your car will be broken into. Please do yourself a favor and call customer service as if you already lived here before signing a lease. You will then see that you’ll never be able to speak to someone in this office. Just some outsourced employee who’s writing a “note in the system”. Trust me the new management is awful. LOOK ELSEWHERE

I love the apartment complex and the general area. My experience with the staff has not been the best. They are very unprofessional and not prompt with concerns.... Only prompt with certain residents.

I have lived here at Stratford for about 3 years- I have no legitimate complaints. Apartment Onsite Staff are the best! They honestly do their best to meet the tenants needs, answer questions etc. Super friendly :) As far as maintenance- from my experience they have been amazing as well—Professional, friendly, punctual and knowledgeable of the trade they are in. The property itself is well kept as far as property management can control- The negatives with property such as animal waste, trash, dumpster misuse, leftover drug paraphernalia and some loud neighbors are all things that need to be improved but this is something Tenants need to improve on - and is beyond outside managements control. We all need to pick up after our pets, if you have trash put it where it belongs- Just be courteous to fellow humans and this would be a perfect place to live for a long time to come. The area for me is awesome- I can walk my dog on well lit streets, There is a grocery store, restaurants and a sheetz across the street that we can walk to. Amazing location. Nice people, Al in all Blessed to be here
This has been the worst place. Don’t get fooled with their front staff. Athena presents herself well. However what she sells is not what you’re going to get. We are very disappointed with the rental conditions and the culture of the place. We had multiple nights with no sleep due to extreme noise from apartment above us. Multiple calls to the leasing office and police with no success. Poor insulation esp. in master bedroom causing condensation on inside wall and build up of mold. All of us developed respiratory issues. In summer people at the pool with inappropriate behaviors yelling profanities, no culture. People not picking up after their dogs and office not doing anything about it. Overall, highly NOT recommended. This is a health hazard! If for whatever reason end up living here make sure you have all of your complaints in written form because many of our call with complaints we’re not acknowledged and there is no evidence that even happened except for those when we called police.
I have been here almost 2 years. This place is nice and quiet; I am in the middle of shopping centers and restaurants. This is a great place to live. The only downside is your rent go up every time you renew your lease.
Pretty big apartments, nice big kitchens perfect for cooking. Plently of parking around all of the buildings. Also has multiple dog waste baskets around the complex. My only complaint would be that their is only one dumpster for the whole complex and its far away and not well lit.
Location is the primary reason I chose this apartment. It feels like living in a safe small town, but within minutes you have access to a multitude of shops, eateries, and even downtown. Close access to I-40 makes commuting for work hassle free. Plus the apartment is wonderful. My one-bedroom is spacious with more storage than I could have hoped for. Plus the pool is open year round and has grills for the residents with propane that is kept stocked. The few issues I have had have been fix rapidly by the maintenance team. I could not have picked a better place to live.
