If you're considering Stuart Woods, please read these details. I am not an employee, and there is no incentive for this review as I've already moved out. I had the pleasure of being a resident of Stuart Woods for 18 months, and I have to say it was the best renting experience I've had in 20 years of moving around the U.S. for work. The leasing team showed me many apartments that met my criteria, and they didn't upsell or try to push me into a bigger or more expensive option. The lease process was easy - all digital. Maintenance: Their maintenance team was responsive and efficient; once, the Whirlpool dryer in the unit would not start, so I used the resident ap to submit a request in the morning. The SAME DAY, a gentleman arrived, came in and diagnosed it, and left for a few minutes to get the part needed. He returned and fixed it within an hour, totaling less than 4 hours. One other time I had a request, and again, same day it was handled. Value: I found the cost to be very reasonable after visiting 6 other nearby complexes. My utility bills were low even in the heat and cold while using the HVAC liberally. Noise: The walls are thick, and the ceiling between floors is concrete, so I almost never heard a neighbor or the unit over mine. My unit had large windows and a sliding door facing a forested area, which was wonderful. Clean: The cleaning crew cleans the stairs and entranceway daily, and it always smells fresh. Pest Control: I never had an issue with pests, and an Orkin employee treated the apartment regularly, leaving a card on the counter if he came and treated when I was out. When it snowed, the parking lot and apartment roads were cleared very quickly. Being critical, I will say that the unit I rented had some older appliances, the bathroom fan was a rather noisy model, the AC unit could have been quieter, and the shower head wasn't the best, but seriously, that's all the negatives. The package concierge worked and felt safe and secure even at night. The gym has nice equipment and is fairly large. Both pools were nice, and if one was a bit crowded, I went to the other. The walking paths and common areas were well kept. The security guards patrolled regularly and parked on the property in their company vehicle; one guard came over and asked if everything was alright as I arrived back from a long trip after midnight and was unloading my vehicle. I will rent here again if work brings me back to the area.

If you're considering moving to Stuart Wood apartment think twice. The management here is incredibly rude and unhelpful. They don't seem to care about the residents or the issues we face. The apartment conditions are awful—it's extremely noisy, and there are constant problems with bugs, roaches, and slugs. When I first moved in the carpet and flooring were in extremely dirty condition and the HVAC had a powerful smell. I've had slugs in my kitchen multiple times, which is absolutely disgusting. Despite reporting this issue several times, the management refuses to believe it and hasn't done anything meaningful to resolve it. Living here has been a terrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We moved in five months ago and found German cockroaches. Stuart has failed to deal with this issue, neglected to let transfer units, and now wants to squeeze us for $6000 for requesting to leave. Find a better place to live, save yourself.

Between the rats, cockroaches, and mold... maintenance is just the least of your concerns. The thin walls are heavily painted with cheap paint that rubs off on everything, you can hear your neighbors do anything and everything, and the weed is a big problem. If your unfortunate like me, you get a place near the playground, all you will hear is kids screaming from 3 pm till midnight in the summers. You'll be happy when it rains so the kids don't go outside but when the mold starts to grow, you'll wish you never said yes to this place. Just keep looking for a different place, this ain't it.
I can’t believe nothing is being done to control the mice, insects, and mold. Don’t move here. I have already noticed breathing difficulties from all the mold.

We were very disappointed with this move. We have been here less than a month and already have a rodent problem! Maintenance and pest control have not been successful helping us and it has been weeks. We have had our car towed because reserved signs are not visible. We have had to make multiple maintenance calls because our washing machine, toilet, and air conditioning were all dysfunctional. We already had to have our locks changed because of the mailbox being unsecured. Many of our doors don’t close all the way. It is useless contacting maintenance because there never seems to be any way they can help us. So disappointed.
For the first time I have lived here in five years, I had to deal with the leasing office staff for an issue. The assistant property manager said to my face "You are wasting my time, I have work to do". I don't believe how are these people running a apartment company here. This would be my last year living here after that experience. Please avoid this place at all costs.

Being here a resident of almost one and half year i have experiences dealing with the management they are not polite, impatient towards the tenants , Especially Mohmmadur tries to murmur in between the conversation when speaking with the management a rude guy in the management probably lacking the skills of social and conversational etiquettes.i have seen another review on him about his behavior its not only me who is complaining about him so the management should think about it. So the next thing is coming to the Assistant Manager she needs to look around whats going on with the service when she gets a complaint or deals with it she is trying to push the mistakes on the tenant and wanted to charge them for. This is what happened we have took a new lease and transferred to a new apartment where they said the apartment was cleaned but no infected with "BUGS " i captured and showed it to the management and started the treatment for the brand new apartment where it should be clean and tidy but not we are IT Employees where we could'nt have time to look into these matter alot busy with our hassels all the time we need assistance and support from the management but we cannot expect much from them which is their duty. So Professionals who are working in Reston , Herndon think twice and make sure you people are good to enter the apartment before you sign the lease they are ready with all the documents when you get a problem trying to charge you i'm warning especially families you don't want to mess with these. These People are crooks!!! They are known to find any and all reasons to keep your deposit and then some. When requesting photos of damages they said you caused they have a camera that takes horrible pictures and write your apartment number on a piece of paper. The apartment number in the pictures you can tell was changed on the card. When the lease is up make sure you do the walk through with them. When needing any repairs or when them come in for their routine checks I suggest you be present when they are there because they have a tendency to leave doors open and unlocked. Repair people also have entered the apartment without knocking.

We lived in Stuart Woods for 3.5 years, and could not have had a better experience. The community is beautiful and well maintained. The staff hosts regular community events, such as a holiday dinner or summer cookouts. There are beautiful trails in the back, and there is also a little gym with a few treadmills and weights, which I went to regularly. Our apartment was very sturdy and well built, so it was easy to maintain and we never heard noise from neighbors (note – we were on the top floor). The appliances were not high-end, but they worked well, and the few issues we had were quickly taken care of by the maintenance crew. The water pressure was great, and we never had to worry about hot water. The price was reasonable for the area (which is a very expensive area to live), and while it did go up every year, it was not by much, and the apartment was very clear about expectations in advance. Parking was never a problem for either ourselves or guests, and the complex offers a free shuttle service to the metro station as well. Overall, I loved my time there, and I was sad to go. But I would highly recommend living there to anyone.

Stayed on 15 month lease. Nice apartment, Location was good. Except had a worst experience when moving out: Returned the keys on March 1st week. Leasing office told inspection will be done and final bill will be sent to my new address. The bill came on Apr 1st week. other than last month utilities/cleaning charges. saw an additional $643 for Replace carpet. Went to their office and enquired. The information got was there was 4 stains found (difficult to identify from the carpet picture that leasing office showed us) and they cannot do patching and replaced entire living/dining room. The leasing office told they cannot provide the information when the carpet was last replaced. (may be we stayed only for last 15 months and they do not want to provide the information). Important lessons learnt: 1) When moving in and out, take picture of the entire apartment. 2) Always PRESENT when the inspection is done. (we might have avoided getting the carpet replacement fees). 3) If you get the bill, do not even bother going to leasing office and enquire. It is waste of time. The leasing office will always try to prove their point on the charges and politely tell us pay the fees or it will be reported to collection agency.

This apartment has it all. It is safe. There is bus stop opposite - it is easy to go to the Reston town center transit station. A free shuttle to Wiehle-Reston Metro station. Health care centers in walkable distance (opposite to apartment) and a number of shopping centers near by (1 mile radius). They have a tennis court and volley ball court. Also a beautiful walking and biking trail nearby. It has it all. The staff are courteous and maintenance calls are attended very quickly. Best place for pets. They have it all!!!!
