The Loop serves as Chicago’s downtown district and is home to many of the city’s most famous landmarks: the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower), Buckingham Fountain, and City Hall, to name just a few. The skyline is dominated by skyscrapers representing well over a century’s worth of architectural designs and styles, from the earliest Victorian-era high-rises to ultra-modern glass towers and everything in between.
What’s it like to live in the Loop? The neighborhood is loaded with everyday attractions like the lakefront, which gives the neighborhood stunning waterfront views. The dining scene is incredible, with world-class food of every description readily available anywhere you look. The nightlife incorporates everything from dives and corner taverns to swanky nightclubs and cocktail bars. Renters pay a premium to live here, but they get to enjoy all the benefits of having the very best of Chicago right at their doorstep.

Property Ratings at Student | ARC
For someone new to the city, the location and abundance of pre-paid utilities made transition very easy. The staff members are very nice, the unit comes with a large TV... Despite this, I would have made a different decision if I could. Beyond the issues of unethical management, for me, rent here was simply not worth it. It didn't take long for me to find out that being in the center of the city is not actually the place to be. There are so many areas of the city where you can find much cheaper rent in even more lively, friendly neighborhoods. You might have to move-in some furniture, perhaps even pay select utility bills, but it will still be cheaper in the end. And since public transport is so abundant here, you probably won't find yourself travelling much more. Also, trains/street traffic/construction probably won't be a constant sound.
I recently moved here from Los Angeles because of a new job in the area. I was looking for a place to stay that had utilities included already, and this was the only one that I thought was reasonable. I never really saw the building or apartment in person until after I signed my lease. To my surprise it was everything that I thought it was going to be and more. The whole building was remodeled from an old office building, but it still has a lot of character. The fact that this place is furnished is awesome, but when I was able go to the roof and see the lounge and all of its amenities was when I knew this was my home. All the amenities in the apartment are clean and modern. There really isn't anything bad to say here. 24 hour door man, electronic locks, trash service, cable, large tv, and awesome views of the city.
