The mix of cosmopolitan flair and low-key atmosphere once led LA Weekly to speculate that North Hollywood just might be the best place to live in the Los Angeles area. This community has become popular among artists, writers, filmmakers, and actors seeking balance between easy access to Hollywood and a quieter, more suburban home environment.
The local food and bar scene is robust, and the bohemian vibe of the NoHo Art District attracts all manner of offbeat creative types. Uncommon among Los Angeles-area communities, much of North Hollywood is quite walkable, with food, drinks, galleries, and performance venues just a leisurely stroll away from one another. Thankfully for renters, all of the perks of this location come at a relatively affordable cost. Most renters pay an average of $2,282 to rent in North Hollywood, about $500 less than the Los Angeles average.

Property Ratings at Studio Heights Apartments
I had a fantastic stay at this apartment! It was clean, well-maintained, and had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable visit. The location was perfect, close to great restaurants and convenient shopping centers. The manager was very responsive and helpful throughout my stay. I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!
They only accept correspondence via WRITTEN letters so there is no paper trail of their wrong doings. They refuse to open the gym (its probably their own personal storage unit smh). They refuse to fix the SOFT SPOTS in the hallways. I wish we read the reviews before moving in. The tenants are also coming together to SUE if they don't address these issues... so don't waste your time moving here. By the way, those who left 5 starts are obviously friends of the owners or management lol there's no way anyone would rate this place 5 stars.
Property Manager at Studio Heights Apartments, Responded To This Review
This is in response to your FALSE review statement. You wrote this false review because after you flooded units below with your portable washer that you were not allowed to use it inside your premises you got caught lying to us and misled us. Our fitness room was closed because of Covid-19 State of California emergency and after it was removed by our Governor, it's back to its normal hours of operation. In addition, we had never advertised you about our fitness room in any way nor any of our lease agreements contain any wordings about it. Also, you stated don't waste your time to move in to this property, why haven't you moved out? Non of those people that left five stars were our friends and an again you stated False information.
The building is in that triangle of Studio City, North Hollywood, Toluca Lake so it can't decide what it is. Close to several freeways and the Universal City metro station, which is very helpful. The area around is lovely, with walking distance to downtown Toluca Lake shops and a nice residential area to the East. The building itself is very secure- too many locks to unlock when you have bags in your hands though. The only complaint is the temperature of the water in the showers- it is never the right temperature and is very annoying. Also be careful the first time you turn on the air conditioner: you could actually lock it if you switch the temp handle too fast! That is what happened to us. We finally contacted Mel the super when it became to hot to bear and were told that we had locked the system by pushing the lever too fast. And he is my only other complaint. Don't know if he has issues with women but is very condescending to myself and my roommate when we have issues that need to be fixed, like the shower temp and the AC. Hate dealing with him, but we love the building and the area! Lovely building neighbors and pretty quiet area.
Pros: -Only three blocks from Universal Studios and the metro train -Walking distance to a few shops and restaurants -Only a 5-10min drive to Hollywood - The building is well kept despite its age -The price is the cheapest in the area -The rooftop has a hot tub and overlooks the valley and Universal Studios -There is two car tandem parking as well as street parking. -Each floor has its own laundry machines Cons: - Not every apartment in the building is kept the same. You may have one with carpet and one with wood floor. The walls are thin so if the person the floor above you has wood expect to hear footsteps from time to time. -The appliances are relatively old -Central air is advertised but the AC units are old and some rooms may not get as much air as others. Our unit broke three times and is still having problems. -The "gym" leaves much to desire as it is small and only has a couple machines. Final word: Its a good apartment for the price and location. If you can handle a few hiccups from time to time because of the age of the place you'll enjoy what it has to offer you.
